Chapter 141 Interrogation (1)
Chapter 141 Interrogation (1)
Iris couldn't help but look at Lai Ho weirdly the moment she saw that he was unconsciously bounded to a metal chair.
Now of course, she wasn't surprised to find out that there was someone locked down in Ronald's basement without her knowing.
Oh no, not at all.
In fact, she would've been more surprised if Ronald didn't do something this malicious while he was out and visiting the capital city.
It was in Ronald's nature to start fights with people who he believes are beneath him, pretty much like most other rich second-generations out there, and prove to them through any means why he was superior to them after all.
It's just that... how did he actually manage to kidnap Lai Ho to begin with?
Lai Ho was an expert practitioner of martial arts after all, and unless if Ronald hired other master martial artists or cultivators, which shouldn't be possible for him to do right now given his current monthly allowances, it should've been absolutely impossible to kidnap him.
But regardless of the reasoning, since Lai Ho being here was troublesome enough already, and he will definitely cause even more of a nuisance for Ronald the moment he wakes up, Iris decided to just dispose of him right here and now and then move on with her day.
Just as she was about to pull her dagger out of her hand though, she heard Ronald's footsteps coming closer to her.
So Iris turned around and greeted him again.
"Young Master." Iris bowed respectfully.
"Sup... what were you about to do with your hands just now?" Seeing from a brief glance that Iris was about to pull something out of her hand just before she had turned around and greeted him, Ronald couldn't help but ask.
"I was about to pull out my dagger and mutilate his body up, Young Master." Iris didn't hesitate to tell Ronald the truth whatsoever and stated.
"Uh, what?" Ronald couldn't help but blurt out.
Does Iris have no morals at all or something?
Sure, she might have a mindset of an assassin and all of that, and sure, she might be heavily in love with him now, but at the end of the day, she's still a heroine, or a protagonist, or whatever the hell she is now!
Can't she at least think things through, or even hesitate for a little bit before trying to kill Lai Ho off?
"Are you really planning to kill him off?" In order to confirm that Iris didn't just spout out nonsense just for the sake of it, Ronald asked.
"Yes Young Master, I do. For your convenience and safety, it's absolutely neccessary that I dispose of him." Even though she knew that Ronald didn't want her to kill Lai Ho off out of concern for herself, Iris still didn't back down.
"Well uh, are you sure that's really neccessary? Cause I do plan on making an example out of him and showing everyone in China what happens when they mess with the Kuangge family, and I can't do if he's dead, and uh, besides, the person that randomly brought Lai Ho to me told me not to kill Lai Ho off just yet, so there's also that..." Seeing as how Iris was being absolutely dead serious about this, Ronald couldn't help but begin spouting nonsense in hopes that Iris would actually change her mind.
While it may seem like killing off Lai Ho wouldn't matter too much to begin with since he was just a supporting character that doesn't show up in any of the important plots whatsoever, the problem was that if Lai Ho were to die now, then the butterfly would likely go absolutely haywire as Lai Ho was still an important figure in Lai Meiyun's life.
"Wait, Young Master. You said that Lai Ho was just randomly brought to you?" Upon hearing what Ronald had stated in the latter half of his sentence and suddenly realizing something, Iris tilted her head and questioned.
"Uh yeah, I did."
"Do you know who did brought him to you and why, Young Master?" Iris inquired further.
"Nope, no clue whatsoever. There was a figure that had his entire lower face wrapped in black leather straps asking if he could interrogate this old man at my house though, to which I said yes." Although Ronald had no idea what Iris was trying to get at, or even what bullshit he was sprouting out at this point, he still decided to throw Kedron under the bus.
Dead men tell no tales after all.
Plus, he technically wasn't lying about Kedron bringing Lai Ho back to his house.
"..." After confirming everything that needed to be confirmed, Iris's murderous demeanor grew even bigger.
Originally, Iris thought that Ye Fan had been the one trying to frame Ronald this entire time by hiring an powerful assassin to kill her and shifting the blame onto Ronald afterwards.
After all, taking Ye Fan's background into consideration, he definitely did have the capability to do something like that.
However, with this new piece of information about that assassin kidnapping Lai Ho revealed, it was readily apparent that wasn't the case whatsoever, especially since it would be counterintuitive to Ye Fan's main objective, which was to further grow his influence in China.
Moreover, given his extreme egotism and pride at this time, there was no possible way that Ye Fan would leverage his background for something like this.
This meant that there was someone else out there in the world that hired this assassin and is conspiring against Ronald...
Most likely a mastermind behind the scenes with a lot of connections.
But who?
If her memory serves her right, Ronald shouldn't have any actual enemies at this time other than Ye Fan and maybe some others that were trampled by the Kuangge family in the past.
Just as Iris was thinking of all of the potential candidates that might have a history with the Kuangge family however...
*Cough cough cough*
