Chapter 1026: Two Heads
?
Kory jumped at Arad as fast as she could, swinging her frozen sword at his neck. Gamond knew that at Kory's current strength, Arad could eat her whole in a single bite, she wouldn't even be able to block a single finger flick from him.
She wanted to scream and ask him to spare her but before she could speak up she noticed that his aura had mellowed down and that any murderous intent he was giving off had faded.
^He doesn't intend to harm her...he even dropped his magic to her level.^ Gamond smiled, she knew that her daughter was probably going to have a painful defeat, but she at least won't be killed or tortured for no reason.
Arad lifted his forearm and blocked Kory's attack with a large smile on his face. "So you're Gamond's daughter. Is this all you've got? If this is it then I'm quite disappointed." He pushed her attack away, "Show me all that you've got."
With a single swing of his leg, he kicked her back with a blast. She could feel her bones rattle, this dragon hit like a titan, all of his punches and kicks were far too heavy, and if she didn't have to protect Isdis she would've already run away.
The great wyrm maids watched with wide-open eyes, even if Arad restrained himself a lot, that only applies to Kory. If any of them dared intervene he'd probably smack her out of the world.
At this moment, all of Kory's senses were sharpened to their limit, only focusing on Arad. Her spell worked, she had managed to teleport Isdis away, all of his power was fake, and this display of might was nothing but an illusion.
^As long as I don't look at it directly, it can't harm me.^ Freezing air started rushing around her as she took a deep breath, her eyes only glaring at Arad. With a single leap, she closed the distance, swinging at Arad's arm with all that she had.
^You won't touch Isdis...even if I die here today, I'll take you to hell with me!^ All of her muscles tensed and her magic rushed out, a wave of blood lust filled the throne room.
The slash sliced Arad's arm off with ease. The dragon maids smiled, thrilled to see that Gamond's daughter was a monster just like her mother, the talent for fighting seemed to be in their blood.
^I dropped all of my magical defenses to get to her level. She seems to be able to hit at an ancient to a wyrm level despite her age.^ Arad's arm regenerated into a straight punch heading toward Kory's face.
"Aren't you an adult drakaina? You're hitting as hard as an ancient, no probably even a wyrm. I've never seen a talent like you before." Seeing the large smile on Arad's face, when Gamond looked at him, she could only sigh. ^You're the one to speak?^
Kory blocked the punch with her ice sword, hearing her blade crack. For a moment she thought that she fully absorbed the hit, but the impact sent her flying to the wall behind Isbert the moment she relaxed for a fraction of a second. She landed on her feet with a pissed-off face. If she doesn't focus harder and keep her head in the game, he'll club her to death with his fists. She instantly jumped back at Arad with another swing, going even faster.
Arad dodged her swing and threw a punch straight at her face, which she blocked at the last second, ending up flung back at another wall. But before she could jump again this time Arad had closed the distance to her, standing right at her face.
He wasn't just stronger than her, he was far faster to a point that felt almost unfair. But Kory had no time to think of that, she had someone to protect behind her.
By this time Kory had already realized that blocking his attack wasn't an option. She is light enough to be thrown away by his sheer strength, which was ridiculous to the point she almost can't believe it, but nowhere near the oppressive feeling they all got from Arad's aura at the start. ^I'm right, he's far weaker than the power he displayed. I must cut him down, slash him right here and now...^
With this, Kory became even more certain that killing Arad wasn't out of her hands. If she could just move perfectly, if she could just focus, dodge all of his attacks at the right timing, and wait for opportunities to strike, she'd win.
If Kory was a gamer, she'd be the level 1 going to fight a level 100 boss with nothing to her name besides trying to learn the boss's moves and perfectly dodging and parrying his attacks. One hit is a game over, but that one percent chance is enough for her.
[Difficulty: Near Impossible]
[Start]
Everyone in the throne room knew that Arad was holding back almost all of his power. Isbert who still sat on her throne smiled, ^Kory is quite dense, an idiot at times but she is in no way weak. In addition to being able to hit far above her age, she can also hyper-focus on doing one thing the best.?
Kory can't think several steps ahead or plan for multiple scenarios like the other dragons, she can't even attempt to hide her power to trick her opponent, she isn't smart enough for that, but what she got is her father's vicious straightforward mentality.
Isbert could remember their fight like it was yesterday. He was far weaker than Gamond, a mere great wyrm, nothing compared to her. They met him on one of their trips, he sensed Gamond's horrifying presence from a kilometer away and charged at her at full power, he didn't even notice Isbert and the other great wyrm drakainas that were walking behind Gamond.
Kory got her father's focus coupled with her mother's powerful genetics and Arad was now having fun fighting those two traits. An adult white drakaina who can hit as hard as an ancient one, and with a focus that propels her aggression to that of a wyrm. Arad was certain that if she fought a great wyrm she'd at least take off an arm or a leg before being taken down.
She reminds him of himself, reminds him of that day after Rita's incident when he woke up surrounded by hundreds of great wyrms and started fighting them out of fear. But unlike him at that time, it isn't fear that pushing her forward, it's the will to protect Isdis.
He had faced too many women trying to kill his wives to get him, but Kory was the first one trying to kill him to save one of his wives. ^Good, she is just...too good. But...she smells
weird. A
Arad switched from defense to offense, unlike everyone here, he could smell something stronger burning inside her. In the blink of an eye, Arad lunged at Kory and punched her in the stomach, hard enough that she heard several of her rips crack and her body was sent flying back with a shockwave, smacking into the wall.
"Come on, you won't beat me like this." Arad looked at Kory who just spat a mouthful of blood with a smile, "This isn't all you've got, or is it?"
The way she was stunned, the way her arms and legs twitched when he punched her, this wasn't how a dragon's body should react. A dragon's body is extremely durable and resistant to damage, even if he were to pierce her stomach with his fist she shouldn't flinch when focusing so much on battle like she is now.
Arad didn't know that Kory was known for being a bit dense or stupid at times, if he had known that it might've given him a clue, but all he had to go with now was his gut feeling. He's Alcott's son, and gut feeling is their specialty.
Kory immediately jumped back at him, swinging at his neck. Arad deflected her slash with his fist and swung again at her stomach, dropping her to her knees.
Kory could feel her whole body going numb, screaming in pain as her vision blurred.
"I didn't hit any vital organ, so why is your body reacting as if I did hit something important?" Arad's eyes flashed purple, "If you'll excuse me, I'll take a look at your insides." With his pricolici eyes, he could see her blood flowing, her muscles twitching and her organs
pulsing.
Arad's eyes opened wide as he looked shocked, "What's that?" It was there right above Kory's stomach, a massive mass of gray matter and nerves, a lot of them coiled up like intestines. That was a slumbering second brain.
Dragons have one brain...they aren't hydras. He has two hearts but that is because he is a
pricolici.
Kory picked up her sword and swung at Arad's neck, slashing his throat. Even she didn't seem
to know of what was inside her, nor care about it, all she could think about now was taking
Arad's head off.
Arad giggled, "Now that is interesting, I've never seen a drakaina like you!" He instantly healed his throat and swung a fist at her which she deflected, only for Arad's second punch to hit her in the stomach again, crushing that second brain.
The moment she recoiled back, Arad punched her in the face with enough force to send her skipping on the ground, bouncing from the walls like a pinball.
"ARAD! That's enough!" Gamond shouted but Isbert blocked her path before she could intervene, "Stop, you know this better than me. He isn't trying to kill her, you can smell it too,
don't you?"
Gamond growled, "Sulfur and pumice, what does that matter if he ends up crippling her?" Gamond grabbed Isbert by the neck, "Don't get in my way when my daughter is in danger."
Before Isbert and Gamond could start fighting a red flash exploded and Arad's head flew in the air before them. Alongside her ice sword, Kory was swinging a burning blue sword of fire with countless red scales decorating her whole body.
Everyone in the throne room could feel it, the change in Kory's magic, this sharp shift in her aura, it was heavy as if a second dragon appeared out of nowhere.
Isbert smiled, "Her father's blood still flows through her veins."
Dragons can't get a sorcerer's draconic bloodline since their original blood dominates. Kory is
a white dragon and should not be able to do this, but here she is, drowning in a red draconic rage while dual-wielding the powers of both chromatic colors.
Gamond was still angry that he went overboard on her daughter, but since he had helped her awaken a power that most dragons can't even dream to have, she would let it slide this time. Now that he seems to have achieved his goal, he should slow down a bit so Kory won't get
hurt...
CRACK! As Arad's head re-attacked to his body, Kory charged at him in a mad rage, swinging at his chest with both swords. He dodged the swinging and punched her again in the stomach, and this time his hit was even harder.
Gamond's face burned red with rage, "He's still going?!" She was about to explode and lung
at Arad, her daughter had long reached her limits and surpassed them, what was he trying to achieve by torturing her like this?
At that moment, Kory swung her swords, trying to stab his heart and cleave his head off at the same time, but instead, Arad threw both of his fists forward, hitting her with a punch to the head and another to the stomach, rocking both of her brains at the same time with even more
force.
With a splash of blood, Kory flew to the wall, destroyed it, and was flung all the way outside the castle and the city. Gamond lunged at Arad swinging her claw at him but before she could hit him he teleported after Kory with a void step.
Outside, Arad kicked Kory in the chest and sent her flying to the frozen wastelands outside the city, where she hit the ground hard enough to create a massive crater and kick a massive cloud
of snow.
Arad had seen it inside the throne room, Kory's second brain was waking up after feeling the
warmth of her red draconic blood. Whatever that thing was, having it unleashed inside the city was far too dangerous for him to risk everyone getting harmed. Gamond flew toward Arad, ready to rip him apart, but the moment she got close to him, she could feel it, a strange draconic power exploding from where Kory was.
An ear-piercing roar shook the city as a massive white dragon head emerged from the snow,
followed by a red dragon head. All of the snow around Kory melted and froze again into solid ice as she flapped her wings.
Gamond stared in terror as Arad grinned. "A two-headed drakaina...wasn't Tiamat the only one supposed to have more than one head?" He looked at Gamond, "Is there something
wrong with your womb? You gave birth to her after surpassing the twilight, right?" "You dare ask me that?!" She grabbed him by the neck, "Did you know about this?!"
"I've seen that she had a second brain inside her stomach and I was trying to wake that thing up." Arad looked at Kory who was now charging two breaths, a fire and a cold one. "Since humans grow wings and tails when pushing their draconic blood to the limit I expected
her to grow an extra pair of wings or a tail...but I didn't think it'd be a whole second head." Arad shifted into his draconic form, "I'll have to stop her now. Wait here for a second."
As the two breaths reached him he sucked them into his stomach with ease as he descended right on Kory's back, pinning both of her heads to the ground. "Good girl, now it's time to
sleep."
[Blood Magic]
By cutting circulation to both her brains for a few seconds he knocked her out.
Gamond stared at Arad sitting on Kory, "So...what does this all mean?"
"I don't know, but she should know what powers lay dormant inside her." Arad looked at
Kory, "She'll wake up soon. She won't be knocked out for long."
Gamond sighed, "Fine... But if you're going to do then take her behind the mountains, not
here before the whole city."
Arad giggled, "Who do you think I am?" He lifted Kory on his shoulder, "I'm not doing anything, or do you want my wives to kill me?"
