Chapter 1027: The Two Drakainas in Hati's House
?
"HAAAAAAAA!" Kory screamed as she woke up, her memories blurred and the last thing she could remember was getting punched in the stomach by Arad. As she looked around the room terrified, sweat started rushing down her face, she could feel the red draconic blood flowing through her veins alongside her white blood.
Her body had changed, and she could hear it inside her head. A second string of thoughts beneath her will. While most people hear a single voice inside their heads while thinking, she is now hearing two and can think of two things at once.
^Where am I/What's this blood?^ She blinked, ^No, I sense mother nearby/It's that dragon, he did this to me!^
"Calm down, you're okay now." Gamond was sitting beside the bed on a wooden chair watching her.
^Mother! She's here!/Did she kill that dragon, I hope she did.^ Kory smiled, ^But wait... I lost, did he.../Probably, I can't wait to see how the wyrmlings would look. Better start looking for a nest soon.?
"Mother!" Kory looked at the wooden walls and warm blankets she was beneath, "This isn't the castle, is it?"
^Don't tell me the castle got destroyed by him/ Who cares about the castle, he didn't breed before everyone, did he?^
"We're in the mortal world, Hati's eternal house." Gamond sighed, "You should've been fine, but I brought you with me here just in case." She looked at the door, "Hati treated your wounds, Arad almost left you dead."
^Mother was worried to the point of bringing me here? How badly did I get beaten?/No, I attacked first, I'm glad that I at least got his wyrmlings.^
Kory blinked twice, "Wait... don't tell me!"
^With how strong Mother is, I bet she ate him./ You old hag! Don't tell me you stopped him from breeding me and kept him to yourself, don't steal what's mine!^
"He didn't do anything. Just dragged you back here." Gamond sighed, "I've been trying to get him for a while but he's as dead as a stone. But you must've sensed how powerful he is."
^Now that she said that...he seemed stronger than Mother at first./ Wait! That spineless didn't breed me? Wasn't I even considering? At least he didn't pick Mother.^
"I know, with such power none of us are worthy of him. If he defeated you, what would make me even worth consideration?"
^What a waste..../ I wasn't even worth a single load...^
"That isn't it." Gamond said with a passive face, "He doesn't really care if you're weak or strong. He didn't care about me since he was already married."
^Married? Wait, he's Isdis's husband!/ I wonder if she'll let me borrow him for a single time... I must convince her.^
Kory held her head she had already started hurting, her thoughts never seemed to stabilize, and her focus couldn't be directed at a single thing.
"Are you okay?" Gamond looked at her with a worried face. Arad smacked her with a good punch to the face.
"I'm fine...What were you talking about?" Kory looked at Gamond with a smile.
"He has five wives and won't get any other wife unless they agree. What's more, is that I heard four of his wives are humanoids and nowhere as strong as he is." Gamond looked a bit worried, "I can't understand what he really wants."
^Wait! He's a dragon, and I can understand his wives aren't his equals, but they should be at least close./He must prefer to look more than power like humans do.^ She instinctively looked down at herself, ^I'm not that bad...probably my blue hair puts him off?/ I should ask a human first, they should know.^
"Usually when a dragon marries weak humanoids it's a sign of his weakness...I bet all dragons would laugh if they heard Arad had actually married them..."
^They'll only laugh, but they'll cry when he comes./Yeah, ignorance is a blessing, but in their case, it's a curse.^
"But you know Arad isn't weak, he's a monster. I'm more certain of that since I came here." Gamond looked to the other bed in the room and Kory looked with her.
^Arad is there? I might get a chance./ AH, fuck! That's a fucking demon lord!^
Kory froze in her place, her face paling as she saw Lunara asleep there. "This magic, a demon lord?!"
"The demon queen of severing, Lunara. From what Hati told me, she came here to train Arad, but now she's seeking to make him her demon lord." Gamond looked down with a pale face, "The demon lord Alaric tried to take this chance to kill her, so Arad killed him alongside the demon lord sawless and took over their layer. The fight didn't last more than an hour."
^Not even the demon lords.../ It has to be the purple skin! Wait, Isdis isn't purple, is it the long hair? That must be it!^
CLICK! The door opened up and Isdis walked in with a tray full of food and some potions, "She did wake up. Kory, how do you feel?"
^Isdis! She's here!/ Yes! Can I borrow your husband for a while?^
Kory gasped, shaking her head and smiling. "Isdis? You're here?"
^That line almost spilled out./ I have to ask it sooner or later anyway.^
"Of course. Arad is my husband as you know." Isdis pulled the small table that was tucked in the corner of the room to Kory's bed and put the tray on it. "You should eat a bit, even if it
isn't much."
^Not much, but those potions would help restore a lot of my stamina./ This is good and all, but I would've preferred something else to eat, you know...^
As Kory started to eat, Gamond asked. "So, where did Arad go?"
^That's right, where is he?/ How can he leave me hanging like this?^
"Well..." Isdis scratched her cheek, "Apparently he spent a long time training and now went to bring the other wives here."
^He probably missed them a lot. And they must be angry over mother chasing him around./I know it he wants to...^ Kory coughed, almost choking on her food.
Kory looked at her, "To discuss the matter of mother."
Gamond looked at her, "Actually no, he just wanted to lay with his wives after so long." She then turned toward Isdis, "So, what do you say?"
^What?/ I was right, called it!^
"Hmm...." Isdis thought about it for a few seconds, "If it's Kory then I won't mind. And if it was just you then I probably wouldn't mind, I'm a princess after all and this wasn't that
uncommon among the royal and high nobles."
^I know it! Isdis is on my side! I love you!/ YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I won!^
She looked at them, "But having both a mother and a daughter as wives would complicate the inheritance rules so it's not something we see favorably...I'll say yes to only one of you, and if both want to join then my voice goes for Kory."
^Wait, Mother is stronger than me, shouldn't she be the one?/ I beat, yes, he's mine...he's
mine, and mine...^
Kory shook her head to clear her head, "Wait!" she gasped, "Who said I'm joining?"
"Your mother did." Isdis pointed at Gamond.
^She did?/ Mommyyyyyyyyyyyy....!^
"MOM!"
"What? Do you want to back off now? I can promise that you'll never find another dragon as strong as Arad unless you're far too lucky. But by that time I'm sure Arad would've become far
stronger."
^I know that, he did beat you./ I won't miss this chance!^
Gamond smiled, "You can feel it, can't you? The red blood is flowing inside you. Arad is the
one who felt and awakened it."
^Yeah, now that I'm thinking about it, who are you? Yeah, who am I? Who cares, let's get Arad first!^ Kory nodded to herself, ^Rigth/Right^
A dragon's pride is their mate, the stronger they are the better. That means stronger genetics for the children, a safer early life, and enough prestige so the wyrmlings can cut a piece of the
land to themselves.
Since Gamond was Kory's mother she was born with a lot of power and influence among dragonkind. None wanted to mess up with the daughter of such a terrifying drakaina. Arad is still not that well known among dragons as he has just started rising to power, but if
he can defeat Gamond that means his status should be above her. Sooner or later, his name is
going to get known and feared.
Isdis stood, "Well, you two think about it."
"Can we change your mind?" Gamond stood, "To accept both."
^I know it, Mother still wants a piece of him!/ Can't blame her, he's too strong to pass on. Especially since he's the first to beat her.?
"I don't know. It's up to you two to find out if I can be convinced or not, maybe the other wives can answer your question." Isdis walked out of the room and Gamond looked at Kory, "Finish eating, we'll go out and check with another of his wives."
^Other wives...yes, Arad has more than one, as expected of his power./ At least I've got Isdis
on my side, now to get the rest as well.^
"Ah...yes!" Kory stood and swallowed all the food that Isdis brought her. "Wait, why am I
acting as if I said yes."
"Since he beat you, the decision isn't yours now. He did let you go untouched, but that
doesn't mean it's right for you to back away now. You're the one who started a fight with him after all." Gamond glared at her, "But, Isbert said you should be allowed to choose, and someone even more important said so as well. But they insisted that it'll be better for you to
go with Arad."
^I knew it, the queen was on my side./ Who would mother listen to? AH! I got it, she must be
that midget!? "The magic goddess, right? You tracked Arad to her land, right?"
"Why did you become smart all of a sudden?" Gamond looked at her with a worried face, "You
didn't hit your head, did you?"
"Arad punished my brain hard enough that I'm thinking better now." Kory scratched her
head, "But it's annoying."
The two stood and walked out of the recovery room and headed out, on their way they saw
Tina walking toward them with Lamy. For a moment Kory almost hid behind her mother at the sight of a demon, but she quickly realized that Lamy was far too weak to threaten anyone who wasn't a weak human.
She also noticed that Tina was weak, far weaker than most humans. But Arad's scent and
magic were all over her body, even if she was left alone in a monster den none would dare
approach her.
Tina stopped before them and gently bowed, "Lady Gamond, Lady Kory, I'm glad to see you two doing well." Lamy who was with her also bowed a bit.
"Kory, this is Arad's head maid Tina. The Lamia is Lamy, a relatively new maid-in-training, please treat them well." Both Gamond and Kory were maids in Isbert's castle and their skills
far outclass any maid in this world, or at least that is what they think. Gamond had gotten used to the other maids in the castle being weaker and less competent than her so she wouldn't get easily annoyed or offended, but Kory was known to be quite the hot pot.
^A new maid and a demon as well? Didn't Isdis say Arad destroyed two layers of the abyss, did
he pick her at that time?/ First the demon queen Lunara and now Lamy, does he have a thing
for demons?^ "Nice to meet you." Kory looked at Tina for a second, "My I ask a question?"
"If it's about the master, feel free. Isdis Already briefed me on the situation, but keep in mind
that my word doesn't bear weight in his mind." Tina replied with a smile, but she was lying. Her word weighs a lot, especially for Arad. She is only second to Aella and if she was the one to suggest making any of them a wife, everyone would seriously consider the matter. "Is one of Arad's wives a demon?" Kory asked with a worried face.
Tina looked confused for a second, "You could say so, Lady Merida is a demonized human. I
heard she is equal in power to a demon lord."
^So he has a demon wife!/ I know it, he has something for demons!^
Tina looked at Gamond, "If you're looking for Lady Mira, you'll find her in the workshop.
Make sure to not disturb her too much. She is the second wife Arad got so you'd better not anger her." "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." The two walked away.
"Kory, keep one thing in mind. Arad is very protective of everyone here, if any of them were to
be harmed, we'd have a very bad day." Gamond looked at Kory with a worried face.
"I know, that's why I'm keeping my magic low." She nodded.
"It's not low enough, there is still a small cold breeze around you. Get any of them sick and
Arad might eat you for dinner."
If even the maids got his scent on them, this wasn't like any other dragon's layer where if
there were humanoids they would be slaves. This is Arad's home, and he'll kill anyone who dares harm it.
After a short while the two reached the workshop, but they immediately stopped. Both of
them froze in place, sweating buckets as they heard Mira's hammer hitting the red-hot iron.
To them, the workshop itself seemed to be twisting, shrouded in black mist, crackling with strange magic. Mira put her hammer and looked toward them, "You're the guests?" She slowly put her
hammer down and turned toward them, the whole magic in the area twisting with her. They could only see her golden glowing eyes moving in the black mist.
The moment she took a step toward them, the two felt as if the world itself cracked, and with each step, the black mist grew stronger to the point that Kory hid behind her mother, shivering like a newborn goat.
What the two could sense wasn't Mira's power, it wasn't even Mora's magic who was playing
with fire inside the workshop, it was something else, something that their powerful draconic senses picked up. This woman was the red line that shouldn't be crossed, terror itself creeps
beneath her feet.
"Yeah, I hope we didn't bother you at an unwanted time." Gamond put on a smile, ^This is Arad's pregnant wife. If she were to be harmed, Arad would snap and rip everything to shreds.^ What the two were sensing was Arad's warning, any dragon would've sensed it if they got close enough to Mira. Even if Gamond didn't know how powerful Arad was, she
would choose to back away and leave the moment she sensed such a sharp and horrifying death threat.
Gamond knew that Arad could destroy a whole planet, and burn a world to the ground. This world's death lies beneath Mira's feet. As long as she's alive and well, walking around without harm, everyone is safe. But if she were to fall, ill or dead, and Arad would stop hearing the thumbs of her feet on the ground, then this ground better not exist anyway.
"And she?" Mira peeked behind Gamond and Kory gasped, hiding behind her mother's side.
^What's that magic? It's Arad's magic, right?/ Don't touch the dragon's pregnant wife, got
it.^
"My daughter, Kory. She's a bit shy, please excuse her. It'll usually take her some time to warm up to new people." Mira looked at her for a second, "Really?"
She reached into her pocket, "Arad was here earlier and said that you two might get scared if you come to me so I should use this." She pulled out a small bottle of perfume. Mira poured a few drops into her hands, rubbed them together, and patted her clothes. Almost immediately the deathly aura around her faded into a threatening scent akin to that on Tina and the others. "Sorry, I seem to have forgotten to use it."
Mora who was training Mira had to leave with Hati for some work this morning and that is
why Arad left that scent on Mira before he went to train with Kayden. Since He got sent to
Yog's world not that much time had passed, now it's only one hour after that. Mora and Hati had returned so Arad gave Mira the perfume to use, but she forgot.
Mira walked back into the workshop, "I was practicing hammer swings on a piece of junk iron, so you didn't interrupt anything important." She was a carpenter after all, not a blacksmith.
She pulled a few chairs and sat on one, "So...should we chat, or get down to business." She glared at them.
"You look a bit..." Gamond sat on one of the chairs. "Angry..."
"Can you guess why?"
