Chapter 684 Focusing on efficiency
Chapter 684 Focusing on efficiency
Once everyone ate and began to feel relaxed, Rain told them that they would start training. For starters, made everyone use the four elements and that had been relatively easy for that squad since they were good at controlling their mana.
After creating some elemental spheres, Rain made them summon walls made of earth, water, wind and fire. Things began to change a bit at that moment. Some of them were able to do it soon, but some others couldn't at all.
"Fifty people isn't a large number, but I will have to make it do," Rain thought. "Agaisnt large number of enemies, we won't need that much support from them, so I guess it will be fine to split them in four groups."
After doing a few more tests, Rain split everyone according to the element that they were better at. That was the creation of the fire squad, water squad, wind squad, and earth squad.
"You all will work with those groups and far away from each other, you will eat, rest, and practice as a squad all the time," Rain declared. "It doesn't matter if any of you improve more than the others. Actually, it does matter.
Use your understanding of magic to help your squad companions because their success will be your success. The better you become as a group, the more you will be able to affect the battlefield, so keep that in mind. You aren't competing with each other, your competition is against yourself to keep sharpening your skills."
Seara and Terra eventually realized why Rain was being nicer to the magic people. It was because Rain wanted them to focus solely on improving their magical skills without any distractions. He believed that having a healthy body and mind was crucial for effective magical development, and his kindness was part of this strategy.
To achieve this, Rain emphasized the importance of eating balanced, nutritious meals to fuel their brains and enhance their focus. He also encouraged them to get enough rest, as proper sleep was vital for a sharp and receptive mind.
Rain created a calm and stress-free environment to reduce external worries and help the magic people concentrate on honing their magical abilities. In a nutshell, Rain's kindness was aimed at providing them with the optimal conditions for becoming powerful support mages, where they could fully devote themselves to mastering magic and reaching their true potential.
The first day was used to split the groups and to analyze the members on them. It was a bit too soon to determine a squad leader. But that would have to be done eventually.
The second day was used to make everyone see what would be their goal. Rain showed them the meteor dragon daggers and also enhanced them with his magic… he didn't have to do much since they were highly compatible with fire magic, but they became so hot that those five meters away had a hard time looking at it.
"This will be hard, but your goal is to make our allies reach this much power in their weapons," Rain said and then he cut off the mana supply that he gave to the daggers. "Dragons are extremely tough, so we don't have time to waste in a war of attrition, we have to get rid of them as fast as possible."
Rain also showed them how his forearm guards could freeze the opponents when he punched them with enough magic on them. Rain also showed two pairs of claws that had the wind and earth properties. The wind one could hit targets from a distance and the earth one was as sharp and sturdy than anything that they had seen when it was infused with mana.
As one would expect, a lot of them thought that Rain was insane for thinking that they could reach that level of power… it was also ridiculous for him to use such power relics as a demonstration.
In the end, Rain proved to them that they were being single-minded by pulling his forearm guards and then summoning a frost sword. Instead of firing it, he kept infusing it with mana… before long, everyone around was trembling and a layer of frost was appearing on the ground… that level of power was even higher than Rain showed with his forearm guards.
"There is no point in setting your own limitations," Rain said. "Your limits are equal to the time that you put into something multiplied by your focus, and the will to do that every day. Unless you all show that much determination, I am afraid that eventually, we all will become food for dragons. I don't want that, and that is why I train every day despite reaching this level of mastery."
"... I am shocked," Terra said while looking at Rain from a distance. "He can be nice when training new recruits. I thought that he could only be an insane instructor whole demands the impossible from others.."
"Maybe not the impossible since he shows them that if he can do it, they can do it as well," Seara forced a smile. "Anyway, since he is focusing on strengthening the raging phoenix, we should keep improving the power of the seals… just adding more mana won't be enough, eventually."
"I think that you are getting used to always think of the worst case scenario, just like him," Terra said and then scratched the back of her head. "Still, I suppose you do have a point. Any new ideas?"
"Nope," Seara smirked.
It seemed that both of them had a lot of thinking to do as well, and they could only hope that they would have enough time for that… soon, they would learn that apparently, they didn't have it.
In the middle of the night of the third day after the new squads began to be trained by Rain… the whole human kingdom trembled for several minutes… Rain thought that the dungeon breaks had happened, but soon he confirmed that it wasn't the case… soon they also confirmed that the dragons didn't invade their territory en mass… but something insane had happened.
