?
Yarin's POV:
I sat on the ground with the candy in my hand, deep in thought.
Nothing was strange about the interaction, but once I knew this place was fake, the peaceful scenery immediately became filled with eeriness.
The hares were still grazing in the open space. Their soft and tender bodies were a strong contrast to the tall buildings. It was really worrying that they would be swallowed by the bloody mouth disguised as a door.
The sun had begun to set in the west, and the sky was gradually darkening. My heart sank to the bottom of the valley, along with the gradually fading light.
The longer we dragged on, the less guaranteed the safety of the hostages would be. Not to mention me, even the experienced warriors of the game were anxious.
This time differed from any other operation or battle they had participated in. An ethereal conspiracy shrouded everyone's mind, provoking people's irritability and anger for no reason.
The five stones remained silent.
Aunt Eve suggested asking my mom to deal with these stones, but Aunt Dorothy thought these stones were only carved with arrays and runes and did not actually contain any power. New Flow could not destroy them.
Things seemed to have reached a dead end.
The search for the keys continued. It was already dusk, and the convulsing birds scattered into the dark sky. A few panic-stricken tits hurriedly flew into the courtyard of the exchange station and landed on the grass to rest for a few seconds. They were frightened by the rabbit eating grass and took off on the spot, flying higher.
They felt unsafe on the branches, so they flapped their wings and flew higher.
I believed their destination was the roof of the broadcast station, which was a safe area with a wide view.
As I stared at the tits in a daze, I suddenly felt my vision blur. When I looked again, the tits had disappeared.
Did they fly away?
Just as I wondered if I was too nervous and my eyes were blurry, I saw a wild rabbit curiously approaching the weeds under the wall. Closer, still not satisfied, it wanted to jump to a higher space, up to enjoy the fresh grass tips-
However, the moment it jumped up, the soft and tiny figure disappeared.
This time, I was sure I wasn't seeing things or hallucinating. The wild rabbit disappeared when it entered the broadcast station!
I got to my feet immediately, scaring the people around me. However, I ignored those surprised gazes and went to where the wild rabbit had disappeared to check carefully.
There were no holes, gaps, or places for the wild rabbit to hide.
It disappeared.
I didn't know what I had done, but when I realized what was going on, Aunt Eve, Aunt Dorothy, and the group commanders had all arrived.
They observed the direction where the wild rabbit disappeared. Finally, Aunt Dorothy said firmly, "I can sense a slight mana fluctuation from there."
Everyone was shocked.
What did it mean to sense magic fluctuations? Either the stones in the meeting room had done something, or... The folded space was triggered.
Where did the missing rabbit and tit go? It went without saying.
A few small animals broke the folded space in a way that the people knew.
Perhaps people's first reaction would be to study what was special about the weeds in the
corner, but Aunt Dorothy only thought for a few seconds before striding toward the conference room.
"Maybe we're all wrong," she said. "Those stones might not be as simple as a sacrifice..." They were still just plain stones. They looked the same as when we left.
Aunt Dorothy was about to reach out to touch it, but Aunt Eve immediately stopped her. "What are you doing?"
"Test a guess of the realm," she said, but Aunt Eve did not agree to let her go for it personally, so she ordered the soldiers to catch some wild rabbits in the courtyard.
The wild rabbits hopped uneasily on the table, curiously and cautiously observing the quiet stones. Just as they touched the stones, Aunt Dorothy immediately activated the witchcraft buried in their bodies. Thus, the wild rabbits were to the stones like a nail attracted by a magnet. No matter how hard they struggled, they could not escape.
As the rabbits' vitality drained, the patterns carved on the stones became more and more vivid and scarlet. The warriors tensed up and transformed into their wolf forms, ready to deal with anything that might happen.
But in the end, no demons or evil forces appeared. Even when the rabbits fainted, the
stones were still quiet. Nothing happened.
People looked at Aunt Dorothy in confusion. She was comforting the unconscious rabbits and turned to look out the window.
We couldn't help but turn to look with her.
The wooden window pane was like a canvas hanging on the wall, silently showing strange pictures of the outside world.
Our vehicles and equipment should have been lying in the tents on the empty grassland. But now, the tent was also in trouble. It was like a kindergarten child's mosaic, scattered everywhere in a strange form.
Everything outside the window was the same. The forest, the grass, the fences, and even the wild rabbits that were jumping around. It was like a picture corrupted by network delays, polluting people's vision and mind in the form of blocks of pixelation.
