Transmigrated As A Villain, The Heroines Are Also Regressors?

Chapter 147 Crumbled Mansion

Chapter 147 Crumbled Mansion

"Huff, Huff... I should be good now..." Ling Feng couldn't help but pant loudly as he stopped at a nearby underpass and dropped Lai Ho on the ground.

Even though he shouldn't be this out of breath considering that he was a cultivator, most of his tendons and ligaments were severed from the fight he had with Iris.

Luckily, nobody was pursuing him.

But that's what Ling Feng found so strange about it.

Despite the fact that both Ronald and Iris had plenty of opportunities to attack him during the battle and even after he escaped, they didn't whatsoever.

In fact, when the house was beginning to collapse, he saw Iris lift Ronald up and hurriedly take him out of the collapsing house like he was some sort of princess.

But why couldn't Ronald just get out of the house himself?

If he wasn't a cultivator, then sure, it would make sense for Iris to carry him out, but Ronald was one!

Plus, he was significantly stronger than Iris currently.

If Ronald wanted to, he could've easily gotten out of the house and then run like 100 laps around it before it actually fully collapsed...

Unless Ronald wanted to hide the fact from Iris that he was strong.

And truthfully, Ling Feng was more inclined to believe that was the case, even though he still had some doubts about it.

After all, why would Ronald even bother revealing his strength to him back at the Hyatt Casino if he wanted to actually hide his strength?

Regardless of the reason why, everything worked out for him in the end, and his overall objective of rescuing Lai Ho was a success.

Once he brings him back to the Lai family safe and sound and finish curing him, his debt will be fully repaid, and he won't ever interact with them again.

He felt that being with them is bad luck after all.

With that in mind, Ling Feng stretched his wounded body for a bit before hoisting Lai Ho back onto his back.

Just as he was about to leave however, a shadowy figure laying in the corner of the underpass suddenly crossed his eye.

And when he came closer to see who it was, he was shocked to see that the person was none other than the person who had revived him from the brink of death the other day.

"Ye Fan."

He didn't know why he too was also laying here unconsciously like this, or even why he was breathing so shallowly, but since he also owed a massive favor to Ye Fan, he hoisted Ye Fan onto his other shoulder and then left the underpass.

"Uh, so Miss, just to confirm it with you, you're positive that you want to go through with the payment, is that correct?" As hundreds of police officers, construction workers, firefighters, and various other workers rushed by in the background to take care of the debris littered all throughout the street and property, the real estate agent, who had originally rented out the mansion to Ronald, questioned as he stared at the maid in front of him dumbfoundedly.

When Ronald first told the real estate agent over the phone that the mansion he had rented from him had exploded due to a 'minor dispute' with some 'high schooler,' the real estate agent became extremely infuriated.

After all, the property value of that thing was well worth over 30 million yuan, and the mansion went poof in a single day, just like that.

However, when Ronald told him that he knew someone who was willing to pay off the property damage in full and that the person was going to write him a check, the real estate agent quickly came to the scene to get the check.

But now that he's seen the person that's actually writing him the check, which was an extremely beautiful woman wearing a maid outfit, he was unsure if he should actually take the check or not.

"Yes, I'm sure," Iris said as she finished writing the check and extended her hand out to give the check to the real estate agent.

The real estate agent didn't immediately take the check from her hand however, and after glancing at Ronald from a distance, he leaned in and whispered to the maid, "Is uh, he coercing you to do this, by any chance? I won't cash in the check and I'll secretly alert the authorities for you if he is."

"He's not. Assume such a thing again and I'll cut your damn tongue out." Iris shot the real estate agent a glare and spat out coldly.

"Ah, um, okay. I misspoke, sorry." The real estate agent scratched his head out of embarrassment and accepted the check.

Then after he confirmed the amount on the check, the real estate agent went on his way.

After coldly watching the real estate agent get back into his car and drive away, Iris went over to Ronald, who was talking to someone wearing a casual bussiness outfit.

"Young Master, I'm finished."

"Got it." Ronald smiled lightly at Iris then turned back to the person he was speaking to, "Anyways detective, is there anything else you need to ask?"

"Not at the moment, thank you for your cooperation. We'll give you a call if we ever apprehend the criminal." The detective respectfully shook hands with Ronald and then joined back up with the rest of the dispatching officers.

As the detective walked away, Ronald turned to Iris, "Good work, Iris. I didn't think that you actually had that much money tucked away in your bank account."

Both in the novel and back in his previous life, Iris never disclosed her financial situation to anyone and rarely bought anything for herself, so he had always assumed that she never had much money to begin with.

"Thank you, Young Master. I usually use my funds for emergency purposes only, so I still have most of the money I've earnt through my commissions."

"Really? How much money do you have then?" Ronald was honestly curious as to how rich Iris was and questioned.

"About 7 billion yuan, Young Master." Iris answered truthfully.

When Ronald heard this, his mouth couldn't help but drop wide open.

Sure he shouldn't of been surprised considering that she was literally one of the best assassins in the underground scene, but he had assumed that Ye Fan took all of her earnings away while she was still his right-hand woman.

"Wait, then why am I even paying you in the first place? You have more money than what my dad gives me in 3 years!" Ronald was genuinely somewhat upset.

He had Iris on payroll for a whooping 1 million yuan a month just for it to not even matter to Iris.

Imagine all of the other things he could've spent with that 1 million!

"I don't know, Young Master, but I'll happily work for you for free." Iris actually wanted to say that she doesn't mind giving him all of her money, but she was worried Ronald might take it the wrong way.

"Deal, no take backs." Ronald immediately took advantage of her statement and laughed shamelessly.

"Oh yeah, that reminds me Iris, when I saw you fighting with that kid down in the basement earlier, I saw you move so fast that you left afterimages behind you. How's that even possible?"

Considering that Iris was only at the Body Tempering Realm still, there shouldn't have been any possibly ways for her to move that fast.

"That's because I rewired parts of my brain to ignore basic survival instincts to significantly increase my strength and speed, as well as disabling all of my senses besides my sight so that I can focus on the fight better, Young Master." Iris informed him.

"How would rewiring your brain to ignore basic survival instincts make you stronger?" Never hearing of such a thing before even with all of the knowledge he's obtained from the system, Ronald asked curiously.

"Think of it like this Young Master, imagine that you are bench pressing something way more heavy than you're used to. After one or two reps, your arms will get fatigued and tired, causing the muscles to contract involuntarily in order to protect the muscle fibers, which afterwards your arms will start to agonize in pain and your mind will want to instinctively stop lifting..."

"This is because the human brain is hardwired to avoid and escape pain, even if we know that the benefits that comes from the pain. It's obviously a good thing to have of course since it makes sure that humans don't exhaust their body to the point of death. But if one were to ignore their survival instinct, they could very easily break the limits of their body's strength and power and become significantly much stronger, which was what I did, Young Master." Iris explained.

"Huh... I get it now, but where did you even learn to do something like this?" Ronald inquired.

"I learned it during my times as an assassin, Young Master." Iris answered half-truthfully.

While it is true that she had learned this technique when she was an assassin, she left out the fact that she had forcefully trained herself to learn this technique back in her previous life after Ronald had committed suicide in order to try and kill Ye Fan.

"Uh huh..." Ronald wasn't buying what she said at all.

But honestly, he couldn't be bothered to dwell any further into it.

What he mainly needed to focus on now was figuring out how to actually deal with Ling Feng.

After all, even though Iris's strength and speed during the second half of the fight was similar to one that was in the Qi Transformation Realm, Ling Feng still somehow managed to escape her grasp and even rescue Lai Ho during the process.

So it was very clear to him that he couldn't simply just get Iris to defeat him with brute force alone, and he needed to come up with a clever strategy against him if he wanted to have any chance of winning.

But... how exactly was he going to do that?

Ling Feng was a regressor that has most likely became an immortal or at the very least achieved an extremely high cultivation realm before he regressed back after all, and so Ling Feng is most likely smarter than him by a large margin solely based on his life experiences.

Not to mention that he can most likely see and or sense any cultivation techniques that either he or Iris decides to hurdle his way.

Besides, Ronald still wasn't too confident that he could actually use Iris to kill Ling Feng off.

A protagonist being able to kill another protagonist was still just speculation that he theorized after all.

And while the system did confirm to him that he could use a protagonist to kill another protagonist, he felt that the system was simply just way too unreliable for him to take its word at face value at this point.

With all of those disadvantages in mind, Ronald couldn't help ponder if it is even possible to kill Ling Feng given the cards he's dealt with right now.

As he was continuing to ponder about this however...

Ring!

His phone suddenly started ringing.

So he took his phone out of his pocket, and saw that the call was coming from an unknown caller.

Assuming that it was one of those scam calls however, Ronald declined the call.

But not even a few seconds after he had declined the call though, before he could even put his phone back in his pocket, the unknown caller began calling to him again.

So Ronald decided to scare the caller off this time and answered the phone call.

"Hey asshole! You're talking to Ronald Kuangge right now, and if you try to reach out to me about extending my car's warranty again, then I'll hire people to track down where this call is coming from and make sure you regret ever dialing my number, you got that?" Ronald stated in such an arrogant and vicious tone that he was sure that the caller would immediately hang up after hearing that.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case however, and instead...

"You fucking lied to us... you bastard!" A female's voice, one that Ronald was actually quite famliar with, shouted furiously through the phone.

Then before Ronald could even react to what was happening...

Click!

The caller hanged up on him.

'...'

'Wow, these scam callers sure are getting bolder by the day.'
