Chapter 571: Chapter 571 The Real Pressure Comes
Because of their advanced age and the constant pressure, not only Ling Jinhua, but both Ling Mingrui and Ling Qirui had poor sleep quality.
Ling Jinhua’s sleep was even worse, and he often had to rely on sleeping pills to fall asleep.
As his son, Ling Mingrui knew that if the old man snored slightly while sleeping, it meant he was sleeping deeply, entering a state of deep sleep. They couldn’t imagine, after just a few minutes of Luo Ziling’s treatment, the old man actually fell asleep peacefully; it was nothing short of a miracle.
But Luo Ziling’s treatment continued without stopping, maintaining the same level of dedication as at the beginning.
Ling Ruonan was quite nervous at first, but after watching for a while, she completely relaxed, and eventually, she looked at Luo Ziling treating the old man with an expression of ease and pride.
However, after watching for a while, she realized something was wrong.
Sweat began to accumulate on Luo Ziling’s face, and the white steam from his head increased. After over forty minutes, his face was so drenched in sweat it was as if rain was falling. Unable to bear seeing him like this, she quickly took a tissue, walked over, and wiped the sweat from Luo Ziling’s face.
It was not only her who noticed that Luo Ziling was expending a great deal of energy; Ling Mingrui and Ling Qirui also saw this and were slightly moved.
When Luo Ziling finished treating the last acupuncture point, his face was pale, and he was drenched in sweat. As he pulled out all the needles, put them into a small pouch, and prepared to stand up, he only managed to get halfway before his legs gave out, and he fell to the ground with a thud.
This startled Ling Mingrui and Ling Qirui; Ling Ruonan, even more so, turned pale with fright and quickly stepped forward to help him up.
“Ling’er, what’s wrong?” she asked anxiously, afraid that Luo Ziling had encountered some mishap.
“Mom, it’s okay, I just used up all my strength,” Luo Ziling, sitting on the ground, smiled awkwardly at Ling Ruonan. “Let me rest for a bit. I need to sit on the ground for a while; otherwise, I can’t get up.”
Ling Ruonan then noticed that Luo Ziling’s face was somewhat pale, and his clothes were drenched with sweat, giving off an odor of perspiration.
“Go sit on the bench over there and rest for a while,” Ling Ruonan said, reaching out to embrace Luo Ziling.
Although Luo Ziling felt embarrassed, he eventually stood up with Ling Ruonan’s help and leaned on her as they walked to the bench and sat down. Luo Ziling asked Ling Ruonan to help him take a piece of candy from his pocket to eat, to replenish some energy.
Ling Ruonan felt an urge to cry, but ultimately she held it back, went to get the candy from his pocket, and personally put it into his mouth.
Ling Mingrui and Ling Qirui glanced at Luo Ziling but said nothing and walked over to check on Ling Jinhua’s condition.
“Grandpa, Great Uncle,” Luo Ziling said in a hurry, not wanting them to misunderstand, “Great Grandfather will wake up after a while, and when he wakes up, he will feel much more spirited.”
“Nannan, help Ziling outside to rest, and get him something to eat,” Ling Mingrui instructed Ling Ruonan. “I’ll look after him for a bit.”
“Yes, Dad,” Ling Ruonan immediately agreed and reached out to help Luo Ziling.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Luo Ziling struggled to stand up and then whispered to Ling Ruonan, “Mom, I can walk on my own.”
But Ling Ruonan stubbornly supported Luo Ziling as they walked out.
Before leaving, Luo Ziling quietly said to Ling Mingrui and Ling Qirui, “Grandpa, Great Uncle, I’ll go rest for a bit. Once Great Grandfather wakes up, I’ll come back in to check on him.”
“Go ahead,” Ling Mingrui waved his hand, letting mother and son leave first.
After Ling Ruonan helped Luo Ziling out of Ling Jinhua’s room, they didn’t go back to the living room but instead walked through a corridor and into an unoccupied room nearby.
“Ling’er, lie down on the sofa for a bit. Mom will get you some food. Seeing you like this scared me to death,” Ling Ruonan said as she helped Luo Ziling to sit on the sofa, instructing him to rest first. Then she asked softly, “How did the treatment go? Do you have confidence that Great Grandfather will fully recover his health?”
“Mom, let me put it this way, getting Great Grandfather back to health is definitely much easier than making Li Haiyang young and vigorous again,” Luo Ziling smiled wryly. “Great Grandfather’s physical foundation is not bad, the only issue is his old age, and the natural aging process of his organs is hard to reverse; there can’t be a miracle of returning to youth.”
“I see,” Ling Ruonan didn’t immediately respond but went out to get Luo Ziling lots of food instead.
After getting the food, she asked quietly, “Then, if you treat Grandfather, could you make his body stay in better, healthier condition?”
Taken aback by Ling Ruonan’s question, Luo Ziling hesitated for a moment then nodded, “In theory, definitely, but I can’t make any guarantees.”
“If you can make your grandfather’s health better, his impression of you will definitely change significantly,” Ling Ruonan whispered to Luo Ziling, “At his age, what he fears most is health problems. If his health is fine, he might be able to serve for another term.”
“Mom, go ask Grandfather and see what he decides before I consider it.” In fact, Luo Ziling wanted to refuse, but he knew that was what Ling Ruonan hoped to see.
Whether from the perspective of family affection or practical considerations, Ling Ruonan hoped he could gain the favor and recognition of the influential seniors in the Ling Family.
From his own perspective, he should do this as well.
Only, treating so many people made him feel somewhat overwhelmed.
No matter how young, his energy was limited.
But if Ling Qirui made a request, he would have to agree despite his reluctance.
This was something he couldn’t refuse.
After eating some food and resting a while longer, Luo Ziling regained his strength quickly.
Ling Ruonan stayed with him the whole time and didn’t go to do anything else.
Curious, Luo Ziling asked, “Mom, aren’t you going to join them for a chat? And where are all the others? Why can’t I see them around?”
“Never mind them.”
“Okay then!” Seeing Ling Ruonan looking somewhat displeased, Luo Ziling knew she was upset about the earlier disrespect from Ling Haining and the other Ling Family juniors, so he tactfully didn’t ask further.
However, after keeping Luo Ziling company for a while, Ling Ruonan still stepped out, saying she was going to check on Ling Jinhua’s condition.
About an hour later, when the clock pointed to eleven o’clock, Ling Ruonan came back and called him to see Ling Jinhua. “Great Grandfather is awake and in much better spirits than before. Come and take a look!”
When Luo Ziling followed Ling Ruonan into Ling Jinhua’s room, he saw that there were many more people inside.
There were no young people; it was a group of older individuals, both men and women.
As Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan entered, all their eyes turned toward them.
Luo Ziling knew these were definitely the most prestigious and influential members of the Ling Family.
He also knew that Ling Ruonan bringing him here at this time had a very clear purpose, which was to let all the members of the Ling Family know he had returned,
He understood that the real pressure had arrived.
