Chapter 128 Special Reward, Strange Orb & Exiting The Portal
Chapter 128 Special Reward, Strange Orb & Exiting The Portal
[An Unwritten Event is happening.]
[You have successfully killed Valtor, the Shadow General.]
[You have triggered a Special Reward!]
Arin squinted his eyes. "Special Reward?"
Another notification appeared again.
[Special Reward: The Dark Energy of Valtor, the Shadow General, has been permanently imbued into his sword.]
Immediately after reading the notification, Arin's eyes darted toward Valtor's sword lying on the ground. The hilt of the sword was black, seemingly made from the scales of a Beast. The sword was large, even bigger than his own, but Arin knew it was something he could wield comfortably.
He walked toward it and picked it up, and just like he thought, it wasn't heavy for him.
'Though, I think it's mostly because of my enhanced strength,' Arin thought. 'It might be heavy for a normal Mage.'
The moment he gripped the hilt, another notification appeared.
[You will now be able to utilize the Dark Energy that has been permanently imbued into the sword.]
[Effect One: Slash the sword, sending slashes made of Dark Energy toward an enemy.]
[Effect Two: Raise the sword to create Dark Spikes out of the Dark Energy shrouding the sword.]
[Effect Three: Stretch the sword out, creating tentacles from the Dark Energy that can extend from your sword and attack enemies.]
Arin read all the effects with slight surprise. First, he hadn't expected that killing Valtor would trigger a Special Reward, and second, the effects were amazing.
"This means that if I want to use all these effects, I'll have to hold the sword," Arin muttered.
The Dark Energy was imbued into the sword, not him. If he wasn't holding the sword, he wouldn't be able to use these abilities since he himself didn't possess Dark Energy.
Arin smiled. "A helpful Special Reward....."
He glanced at Valtor's sword—now his sword—noticing the Dark Energy shrouding it.
'Though, I don't know if the sword will run out of Dark Energy or if it'll always have Dark Energy,' Arin thought.
Since he didn't have the answer, there was no point in dwelling on it now.
Without wasting time, he stored his own sword in his inventory and gripped the Dark Energy sword.
He crouched, looking directly at Valtor's body. Instantly, he raised the sword and stabbed Valtor's forehead.
CLANG!
A small part of Valtor's forehead was pierced, but the sword couldn't go further—it had hit something solid. Arin wasn't surprised.
Using the sword, he extracted the solid object, but instead of just one, two things emerged, making Arin furrow his brows.
"Huh?"
He glanced at the two items. The first was a vial containing a small black seed—this was what Arin had expected.
He quickly looked at the second object and saw that it was an orb.
The orb was transparent, with black smoke swirling inside.
"What the hell is this?" Arin murmured.
"That black smoke inside the orb is moving like it's alive," Seraphine said.
Arin had noticed that too, but he had no idea what it was, and the system wasn't providing any information.
'Though, it looks important,' Arin thought.
With no other choice, he stored it in his inventory.
'Since it entered the inventory, that means it's not a living thing,' Arin thought.
"Hopefully, I find out what it is," Arin murmured as he picked up the vial—his main objective.
He stared at the black seed inside with a grin. Then, after one last glance at Valtor's body, he turned and walked toward the Portal.
WHOOSH!
He swiftly jumped into the Portal, leaving the Shadow Realm.
**********
In the forest, Tessa and Leon kept glancing at the Portal while talking.
"It's been a while now..... Do you really think he'll come out?" Leon asked, adjusting his yellow hair.
Tessa folded her arms. "Yes, Leon. Just be patient....."
Though she appeared confident, deep down, she was beginning to worry.
'I noticed that the Portal is getting smaller,' Tessa thought. 'I'm sure this means it's closing.'
'Chaos..... Be fast...'
Leon glanced at Tessa. "You know, what if he doe—"
Before Leon could finish talking—
WHOOSH!
A gust of wind suddenly burst from the Portal, and then—
THUD!
Tessa's eyes instantly lit up with joy as she rushed toward Arin, who had just emerged from the Portal.
"Ah, you sure took a lot of time," Tessa said, staring at Chaos with relief.
"Hahaha! Brother! You made it!" Leon laughed. "I don't know what you went in there to do, but I'm glad you're back!"
Arin glanced at both of them before speaking. "I was checking something out..... I would've returned sooner."
Tessa nodded before raising her brows at Arin, as if asking whether he had successfully acquired the Shadow Seed.
Arin understood her unspoken question and gave her a nod in response, making her smile widen.
Instantly, he raised his hand, revealing the vial.
Leon furrowed his brows as soon as he saw it. "What's that.....? It looks so dangerous...."
Arin looked at him. "This is the offer I was talking about..... It'll help you in more ways than you can imagine."
"Huh?" Leon squinted his eyes. "What do you mean?"
Arin let out a sigh as he glanced at the Portal, now much smaller and on the verge of completely closing.
He turned back to Leon and asked, "What makes a girl attracted to a boy?"
Tessa frowned slightly upon hearing Chaos's question. 'What's with that strange question?'
Leon, on the other hand, grinned and replied.
"A girl is attracted to a boy when he's tall, powerful, and most importantly, when he has looks that can make even a goddess's cheeks turn red."
"And I can proudly say that I lack those qualities!" he added.
"Exactly....." Arin said as he walked closer to Leon.
Tessa could only watch the two of them in confusion, wondering why the conversation had taken such an odd turn.
Arin stopped in front of Leon, raised the vial, and whispered, "What if I told you that this thing can give you all those qualities and even more..."
Leon's eyes widened.
"Huh?"
