Chapter 302 Monstrous Wolf

Chapter 302  Monstrous Wolf

Roar!

Asher lifted his head, gazing at the dark silhouette in the clouds, heading for the battlefield. Its oppressive might had already descended on the battlefield when it was still hundreds of meters away.

Shing! Asher drew Euodias as Bezerk dashed forward. The paladins rode behind him and the temple slaves flew above him. Their formidable formation traversed the battlefield with imposing might.

Cloaks fluttering, weapons poised and eyes fixed on the rapidly encroaching creature.

Roar!

When the wyvern came out of the forest region, it breathed out ice on the Ashbourne main army. Seeing the lethal ice, Alec dashed toward it, his heavy steps causing the earth beneath his feet to sink a little bit more than normal.

"Argh!" With a powerful yell, he leaped over a great distance, landing with his shield before him. The mouth of the drake on his shield opened up, swallowing the ice but after a while, it began to spread outward, slowly engulfing the shield.

When the rider of the wyvern saw that Alec was able to absorb the wyvern's breath he made it stop and land. The moment the wyvern landed, its slitted eyes sized up the Grand Aegis infantrymen around it with their shields raised. "Humph!"

The rider harrumphed. The wyvern swung its tail, sweeping the heavy infantrymen into the distance. They were as light as a feather before the might of the wyvern. Growling, the beast which had dark blue scales lifted its head and a blue glow flickered across the length of its neck.

Once again, it breathed out pure frost. But, its frost was countered by the frost that came out of Alec's shield! Furious, the wyvern swung and ran toward Alec with its wings and hindlimbs. Alec blocked its strike but was sent flying several meters backward. When he rose up, his eyes hidden beneath his helmet narrowed. A massive gash had marred his shield!

Alec looked at the giant beast busy breathing ice on his men. Tightening his grip around his spear, he was about to charge toward it but roots made out of ice formed a few meters ahead.

A stump grew and from there, it became a trunk. From there, branches came out and leaves sprouted!

Alec lifted his head, gazing at the top of this extraordinary tree that came from seemingly nowhere. His shock increased when he noticed that other trees were growing, forming an entirely new terrain made out of ice!

Different kinds of plants grew out, transforming the battlefield into an unrecognisable terrain. "W… what in the world is this?" Count William frowned as he slowed down and touched a tree. It was cold to the touch and strangely hard!

His eyes veered toward the golden armored lord charging through the ice forest with his elite troops. Without being told, William knew this was Asher's doing.

He was the only one releasing such great force. It was massive enough to fill a vacuum!

"Such might. Asher Ashbourne, you've been hiding this from the world this whole time!" He scowled. Shing! "Unfortunately, a wyvern is still powerful even if it's not a pure dragon." Brandishing his drawn sword, his tiger lunged forth, closing the gap between the clash between the Black Tiger Cavalry and the Bladebreakers. Both elite cavalries charged side by side, striking their lances against each other.

Shockingly, the Bladebreakers had the upper hand due to the height advantage of their mounts! The species of horse they mounted had never been seen or heard of before. Where had horses with bone spikes protruding from their joints been seen in all of the high plains?!

What kind of horses were these?

Willam frowned. He had gotten used to the temple knights but these horses were a new surprise. Just how much more is hidden behind those walls?!

'They do have an advantage but we also have ours.' Count William smiled. Their advantage was numbers!

One of the most powerful advantages in any battle!

"Commander, to your left!" A Bladebreaker bellowed and Lambert turned. About two thousand barbarian riders were fast approaching. Dust rose behind them and the earth announced their arrival. The situation on their side was daunting, but not as daunting as the battle against the dragon! It was the only creature in the battlefield that could shatter the ice trees and breath frost, powerful enough to freeze the bodies of sacred and saint-ranked knights!

"Split!"

Asher ordered and the paladins split into two. The wyvern slammed its claws attached to the wings into the ground, lowering its sling neck and breathing frost that blocked the path of the other paladins splitted away from Asher. Dreadfully crimson light emanated from Asher, enveloping his mount and his men, giving them the ability to close the gap. The oppressive might of the wyvern was enough to take the fight out of any knight but with the protection of Asher, the paladins were still in fighting shape.

"You westerners!" The wyvern rider said grimly. "Die–!" Bam!

Sirius slammed into the wyvern causing the rider to wave to the other side. 'I almost fell!' His eyes widened. "Kill that wolf!" He yelled. The wyvern opened its mouth wide and bit down but Sirius breathed flames instead, scorching its mouth! Smoke came out of the wyvern's mouth as it shook its head vehemently. Sirius enlarged itself, pinned one of its forelimbs on the wyvern's neck and drool fell off its mouth as it gazed at the dumbfounded rider.

"Where did this wolf come from?" The rider gasped. All his life, he had been exalted as a wyvern rider. Even dukedoms feared his county because of the might of the wyvern but here he was… facing an even greater threat.

The wolf whose shadow hid the sun!

His pupils shook.

"Yonna, take me out of here!" He cried out but a massive ice burst out of the ground and the wyvern's head was stuck in the ice pillar. Sirius took that opportunity to swallow the rider, grinning as it crushed his tiny bones! At that moment the wyvern burst out the ice, forced itself out of Sirius, launched a heavy slap to Sirius face with its spiky tail and flapped its wings. It generated wind, blasting the knights around and their horses away but a clean white sword light cut deep into its left wing. The wyvern cried out.

It roared at Sapphira but had to ignore her as the paladins threw their spears. The spears pierced through its scales.

Roaring, it breathed frost everywhere and recklessly. By the time it stopped, there was a heavy fog everywhere.

As a dragon it could naturally see the brilliance of force and at this moment, two bright forces were before it. One was a man clad in golden armor and the other was the white wolf behind it.

Both of them rushed toward it at once. Sirius pinned its tail, stopping it from flying. Realizing this, the wyvern breathed frost but Asher burst through the frost, his sword raised aloft.

Its runes shone softly.

Slash!
