Chapter 411: Exploded
Unsure of Yao Ran's reason for asking this question, Long Yu replied, "If you want to watch fireworks, I can ask Jia Xiang to make some for you."
Yao Ran chuckled at his pampering tone. "No need. I will show you now."
She closed her palm, and in the next moment, three explosions echoed from below.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The others, realizing the source of the explosions, paled in horror.
Staring at the scattered flesh and blood where the three wood element ability users stood before, one of them screamed, "They exploded! She can explode people! Run!"
After witnessing Yao Ran's ability to detonate the bodies from the inside out, Long Yu noticed her control over blood was similar to his control over the wind element.
After a moment of thought, he focused his wind element energy on manipulating the oxygen inside their bodies. Seconds later, another explosion echoed.
Bang!
This time, Yao Ran was surprised. She turned to Long Yu and asked, "You can use the same move as me?"
"I just learned it from you," he replied.
Impressed by his high learning level, Yao Ran gave him a thumbs-up. "As expected of my fiancé."
While the two spoke, the remaining attackers scattered. Their leader, gritting his teeth, assessed the situation. Seeing the four exploded corpses, he made a quick decision. "Retreat!"
At his command, the survivors fled in a panic. By the time Ma Benshun and the others arrived, they found only blood and flesh scattered across the ground.
Looking up, the burly man asked, "Captain, where are the enemies?"
Long Yu looked at him and replied, "Haotian, you guys should head back now. I will inform Brother Yuan before returning."
Seeing everything was already over, Guan Haotian sighed in disappointment and followed the order. "Yes, Captain."
In Yao Ran's villa, Shi Xuan and the others watched the events in the outer district through the drone feed, speechless at what they had witnessed.
While Yao Ran and Long Yu went to inform Yuan Rihui about what had just happened, the remaining gang members ran back to the slum area. After the riots, the slum had become a lawless zone controlled and divided by a few gangs.
Arriving at one of the alleys in the slum, the gang members slumped onto the dirty ground to rest. Leaning against the wall, the leader clenched his fists and furiously punched the ground.
"Damn it!"
Seeing how angry he was, the others didn't dare make a sound.
After a moment of silence, one of them mustered his courage and asked, "Big Brother, what should we do now?"
The leader glared at him but said nothing. Under his glare, the man quickly fell silent.
Noticing that everyone was tired but uninjured, another man said, "Big Brother, we can't go back like this. If we return without success, then…"
Everyone present understood the unspoken part of his words. If they returned empty-handed, their boss would kill them.
After weighing the pros and cons, the leader finally asked, "Do you guys want to survive?"
The answer was obvious—who didn't want to live? The gang members exchanged glances before nodding in unison.
Seeing their response, the leader said, "It's impossible to fight those two monsters, but we also can't go back."
Hearing this, one of them asked, "Big Brother, do you have a plan?"
The leader nodded. "Yes. The only way for us to survive is to sell information to the military."
As soon as he said this, the smarter ones understood his plan.
"You want to use the military to kill our boss?" one of them asked, disbelief evident in his voice.
The leader sneered and replied, "He forced us. I'd rather fight him than die at the hands of those two monsters."
Realizing this was their only chance to survive, the others reluctantly agreed to the plan. Now that everyone was on the same page, the leader said, "You guys head back to our hideout first."
"What about you, Big Brother?"
The leader turned to the young man and said, "I will go find the Young Master of the Xu family."
After saying that, he lowered his hoodie to cover his face and left the alley.
When Xu Ruihan learned about the gangs from the leader an hour later, he and his men decided to clean up the slum area. Because of this, no one dared attack the villa area anymore.
Although the situation had been peaceful lately, the residents remained panicked. It had been ten days since the last gang attack, but the atmosphere in the villa area grew heavier by the day.
Waking up early that morning, Yao Ran noticed another dispute outside. She stood on the second-floor balcony, thoughtfully watching two villa owners argue below.
Just as the situation was about to escalate into a fight, the patrol guards arrived and separated them.
"Stop it right now!"
The guards saw the two villa owners still grabbing each other's hair and had no choice but to drag them apart.
One of the villa owners was Yao Ran's neighbor. She pointed at the other woman, who was wearing expensive clothes, and furiously shouted, "You'd better return my family's food, or I will cut off your hands!"
The other woman, equally angry, shot back, "Do you think I'm so poor that I need to steal your food? This is ours!"
The neighbor sneered, pointed at the canned food in the woman's hand, and said, "I marked each one of our food. There is a star carved on the bottom of the can. That is our food!"
Hearing this, one of the guards extended his hand toward the woman and said, "Ma'am, please let me check it."
The woman hid the canned food inside her thick coat and angrily retorted, "Why should I let you check? This is mine!"
Seeing her reluctance to cooperate, the neighbor pointed at her accusingly. "Look at her! She is scared! That is my family's food!"
One of the guards, unwilling to waste time on their argument, snatched the canned food from the woman.
