Chapter 351: Chapter 229 Maybe…….Youth is Over_3
But for him, having not seen each other for many years, he was still like an aged and fierce dog. Indeed, those who are harsh on themselves are equally harsh on others. To some extent, he hadn’t changed.
“Yeah, youth has ended,” Jiang Yunyao forced a smile onto her face, “I was young and foolish back then. After graduation, I let go of many things.”
Xu Qingyan didn’t have much sentiment towards his youth; back then, he could sense that she might have had a bit of a crush on him, but he never took it seriously.
Even now, Xu Qingyan didn’t think she liked him. She just liked who he was in his youth, the imagination of what youth represented. Only a fool would believe otherwise.
Xu Qingyan chuckled, “No worries, things are pretty good now.”
“Do you have a girlfriend now?” she suddenly asked.
“Not yet, too busy with work.” Xu Qingyan didn’t care much either and spoke in the tone of chatting between friends, “You don’t think I got a girlfriend from participating in a love reality show, do you?”
“Weren’t you with the two pop princesses…” Jiang Yunyao hesitated.
“Eh, buddy doesn’t have that much charm.” Xu Qingyan waved his hand dismissively and then added, “But we are indeed quite familiar, after all, we’ve had collaborations.”
“We get along quite harmoniously, they are incredibly talented singers. Working together has been delightful, and there are no plans to end our collaboration anytime soon.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yunyao’s pupils constricted slightly, not knowing how her face might look at the moment.
“Really?”
“Yeah.” Xu Qingyan caressed the teacup, pondering a bit before saying, “I didn’t expect to see you here, but I’m quite pleased. Congratulations on becoming a makeup artist.”
“After all, it was your hobby in college. To be honest, I didn’t understand it back then, and even now I can’t tell the difference between eyeshadow and blush, can I?”
Jiang Yunyao listened and looked down silently, murmuring an explanation.
“The skin around the eyes is thin, the pigments used are different from blush, and red pigments can’t be used on the eyes. Eyeshadow can be used as blush, but blush doesn’t necessarily work as eyeshadow.”
“Oh, I see.” Xu Qingyan smiled, “Makeup really is complicated and hard to understand, like highlighter and concealer, I just can’t tell them apart.”
Jiang Yunyao fell silent. It wasn’t that he couldn’t tell them apart, he just didn’t want to.
She could not utter a word, nor did she have the courage to say “we could try to get in touch.” Just like the divide between heaven and earth back then, a mountain still separated them now.
After the meal, Jiang Yunyao watched as Xu Qingyan came out with a takeout box and couldn’t help but ask subconsciously.
“Did you get a takeaway?”
“Yeah, I hardly touched my food, will heat it up and continue to eat it this afternoon.” Xu Qingyan said casually, then turned to look at Jiang Yunyao, “What’s up?”
“Nothing… nothing.” Jiang Yunyao looked down, thinking that if it were her, she probably wouldn’t have taken the leftovers, not because of pride, but just habit.
If she had a boyfriend, she most likely wouldn’t let him take leftovers home either. Even if he took them, she wouldn’t accompany him to eat the leftover lunch in the afternoon.
All of a sudden, Xu Qingyan asked, “Are you still with that senior from college?”
“We broke up,” she shook her head.
“Oh, that’s good.”
Then she suddenly found herself unable to utter any superfluous words, so she gathered her spirits. At the crossroads where they parted ways, she waved goodbye to Xu Qingyan, who was holding the takeout bag.
“Goodbye.”
Xu Qingyan also waved back at her and left without looking back.
She walked a few steps forward, then couldn’t resist looking back. Xu Qingyan had blended into the crowd, and from beginning to end, he never once looked back at her.
Jiang Yunyao felt as though she had never started anything with him, yet she still experienced the feeling of a breakup. And compared to an actual breakup, the sense of loss was several times more intense.
It was as if she had missed out on someone very important, yet she had never really had them at all.
“Miss Jiang!”
A voice of surprise rang out, interrupting her thoughts. She quickly turned her head and saw a scholarly young man smiling and greeting her.
He seemed to be from the director’s team, having met a few times before… What was his name… She couldn’t recall.
“Miss Jiang, why are you crying?”
Crying?
Jiang Yunyao looked bewildered as she picked up her phone, and her reflection on the dark screen revealed her face. Unbeknownst to her, there were several streaks of tears, with large teardrops rolling down.
She wiped away the tears, glanced coldly at Zou Lewei.
“Sorry, I have something to deal with.”
After saying that, she walked away without looking back, leaving Zou Lewei standing there, dumbfounded.
Zou Lewei stood at the crossroads, clearly having seen Jiang Yunyao just a moment ago walking with a man. He had made sure she didn’t have a boyfriend, so who was that person?
Thinking about Jiang Yunyao’s attitude just now, he clenched his teeth in frustration.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Bro Lewei, I’ve found out, that kid Xu Qingyan has been placed in the technical team,” blared the loud voice on the phone, “under Leader Lu’s supervision.”
“Technical team? He didn’t join the director’s team?” Zou Lewei was momentarily stunned and asked in surprise, “Isn’t he the one who writes songs, how did he get transferred to the technical team?”
“Who knows, it’s the director’s decision,” the loud voice on the other end said, “Bro Lewei, where are you? There’s a meeting this afternoon, don’t be late.”
“Got it.”
After hanging up, Zou Lewei stood at the crossroads, his expression turning from sunny to overcast.
The director’s team mainly managed the coordination of artists, scheduling, and assistance with filming. The core creative team was a separate special department, consisting of about a dozen people.
The core was composed of the director, producer, post-production; Zou Lewei naturally had no place there, his only privilege was to submit proposals.
He had originally thought Xu Qingyan would definitely be transferred to the director’s team, and he had deliberately left a position open for artist coordination, intending to give Xu Qingyan a hard time.
Why did He Guojin reject his proposal and intentionally bring in an outsider, which clearly showed favoritism?
