Chapter 36 Reaper

The two large axes floated on the air. They both merged on the air like a thick liquid into a single object.

Xander has never seen anything like this before. It was like he was watching 'Venom' again. The black liquid formed different shapes until it stopped.

The liquid then began to form a solid object, making Xander look confused as he has never seen... anything like this.

In front of him was a spear which was a little bit taller than him with axe blades on the sides. It was like a double sided axe with an extremely long handle.

[This weapon can change into whatever will fit it's owner. It was owned by the minotaur which it used to kill so many creatures. Now the weapon is at it's full potential.]

Looking closer the Bringer of death looked like it was made out of the same material as the cave.

'I feel like I'm forgetting something. What am I forgetting?' Xander thought hard.

He grabbed the spear-axe and waved it around and found that it was indeed... not at all easy to use.

He had to look for the part of the body of the spear to hold which will balance the weight of the spear head and it was difficult to handle it overall.

"I still prefer knives or swords. Those are easy to swing around." Xander said and just held the Bringer of death as he began to try to remember something.

Something about the red aura that surrounded the axe when it formed. "I feel like I've seen that red aura before." He said.

All of a sudden, Xander's eyes widened as he realised something that took so long for him to remember.

"The alter that I found in that secret cave." Xander said as he remembered a mysterious and ominous red aura that lead him into the waterfall.

"It could be another weapon and I've missed it."

As time passed in this caves Xander knew how valuable high level weapons are.

A weapon's level could make a huge difference in the battlefield and that meant everything to Xander.

Since the Bringer of death was already maxed out in levels and strength, it means that Xander will have to get enough strength to wield it better and not waste it's potential.

Even if the weapon was extremely sharp, without strength to bring it down on the minotaur he could be defeated.

Xander brought up his status screen and was quite surprised with how much he has improved.

The first thing he noticed was that his skill [Web slash] was gone as the sword broke on the minotaur's head.

Xander didn't immediately distribute his points and closed his status screen. "Something might come up and I'll need to use those points." Xander said as he remembered the giant fly that almost ended his life.

In that situation, with enough Agility and stamina he would be able to dodge every one of the fly's attacks with ease so stat points were very important.

"Change of plans. I don't know the way to the secret cave so I'll look for it and then kill a lot of creatures on the way." Xander said before turning to look at the labyrinth.

The minotaur flew past and one of the giant flies vanished. It was probably dead by now.

"I'll be back for you." Xander said with resolve burning in his heart as he went into the caves.

As time passed Xander found a lot of high level creatures and killed them all. Along with low level creatures none was an exception under the blade of Xander's spear.

He found a lot of secret paths and special places in the caves while he was exploring. Although it was lonely in the caves, Xander's hope was to see the people he cared about when he got out.

If the ghoulshippers were really behind the game and making it like this then that means that it's a mass sacrifice they planned.

Xander regretted not trusting his dad at that time. If he had then he won't even had gone to Harry's house and would've solved everything by himself.

He was just that kind of person. Dragging people into his problems were not his thing and even working with people... at least that was before he and Harry started playing VR games together.

Harry was skilled and didn't drag Xander down and Xander was happy that he got such a companion. Over time both of them went from being childhood friends, to best friends.

Xander suddenly stopped walking and looked around.

"I've been walking for more than two hours now and I haven't seen any monster. That's weird."

Normally he would see a monster every now and then as he walked but it was getting weird already as the surroundings were extremy quiet.

'Monsters could have been scared away from this area.' Xander concluded and gripped his spear tightly, raising his guard to the maximum.

Two green eyes flashed in the shadows above Xander and followed him slowly from behind.

The air in the cave changed and there was now a transparent white mist around and an eerie sound of wind blowing.

Xander gulped, 'This is getting weird. I think I should turn around.' He thought as he moved his hand which had a blue flame on it forward.

He still didn't see anything and he turned around to leave the scary area.

As Xander turned around two green lights flashed in the darkness and came towards him with shocking speeds

As Xander turned around he saw a silver blade coming towards him with great speed.

If it was a week ago Xander wouldn't be able to block this but after he distributed his over 100 free Stat points his power soured by a considerable margin and combined with the cursed weapon 'Bringer of death' He was confident in putting up a decent fight against the minotaur.

He raised his hand up in one swift motion and with a loud clanking sound, Xander was sent backwards scraping the ground with his feet.

The shoes he wore were all torn and looked like something poor people wore but he still managed it as sharp bones could be pricking his leg every now and then.

He removed his eyes from his shoes and looked forward. There were pieces of clothes on the bones around so Xander threw his blue flames everywhere to illuminate the surroundings.

Xander raised his head as he saw something that he have never seen before.

It was a giant humanoid skeleton in a cloak. It's eyes burned with a green flame and in its hand was a black scythe with a silver blade.

The creature was both menacing and terrifying.

So far Xander have only seen insect type creatures except the manticore and minotaur... oh and the water that ate flesh too.

Seeing this huge skeletal figure in front of him Xander got in a stance and smiled smugly.

'All the creatures I've seen that aren't insect type are all of extremely high level or extremely dangerous.'

"Which means that you are of high level." Xander said with a smile and just stayed in his stance.

"Let's see how strong I've gotten. My Agility points are already more than fifty so I don't believe I won't be able to escape." Xander mumbled while the 'reaper' just walked back and forth like as if something was stopping it from coming closer.

Without any thought Xander rushed at the reaper, leaving a gust of wind behind him.

In a moment he was already beside the reaper and swung the spear towards the neck to kill it in one blow.
