Chapter 734 Fooling the enemies
Chapter 734 Fooling the enemies
The technique that Rain practiced, fighting with his arms crossed, was actually inspired by a character from Earth who was renowned for his pride in his speed and unique combat style. This character would confidently engage in battles with his arms crossed, leveraging his incredible speed to both repel incoming attacks and launch counterattacks without being easily detected.
Rain admired this character's prowess, particularly how this stance allowed for a swift defense and quick retaliation. Emulating this style, Rain found that adopting a similar approach in combat enabled him to deflect oncoming strikes while launching his own attacks stealthily, all while maintaining a seemingly casual posture with his arms crossed.
It was a technique that combined defense and offense seamlessly, allowing for effective combat without giving away his intentions or speed.
"Just because you're a bit fast, doesn't mean you can act so..." Rain thought when he realized that he was having too much fun with that. "Sometimes I feel like I don't even deserve to have some fun… until I am absolutely sure that no more enemies can bother us."
While Rain was training, a bunch of hours passed, and he realized that he didn't talk all that much with his friends who came to visit him and his family… that had been rude on his part, even though he did what he did with good intentions. He also wanted to protect the entire human realm, after all.
For a moment, Rain considered that he was thinking too much or that the upgrade on his body was affecting his mind when he began to relax a bit… Two months had already passed since the end of the previous battle, after all.
"You look troubled all of a sudden. What is wrong?" Branden asked.
"It is nothing. Sorry for not talking with you two that much," Rain said. "I also like to keep myself busy because my mind takes me to annoying places when I am not busy with anything."
"That is a relief. I thought that you were someone completely incapable of feeling worries or insecurities," Branden said. "You taught me a lot of things, so let me teach you something as well. If you look too much into the future, you will lose sight of the present."
"... Surprisingly wise words," Rain said while nodding. "Not bad."
"I am five years older than you… it isn't surprising at all," Branden rubbed his eyes. "Anyway, don't think too much about things beyond your control. We are going to win this, and if we fail, we will probably die before we see everything we worked for crumble in the hands of our enemies."
"That is something very… hopeful," Train frowned.
"I do have my moments," Branden said shrugged.
"Why guys can't just relax on a day off and talk about ordinary things?" Terra whispered. "The mood feels so heavy now."
"Dad always said that men don't want to look weak in front of their women, that must be why," Seara said.
"I am worried about you two…" Esmeralda said after blinking several times. "You have been married for many years, but it seems that you two still have a lot to learn."
The talk prompted Rain to recognize the need for relaxation and downtime, yet despite this realization, he fought with a persistent feeling that hindered his ability to truly unwind. His logical side emphasized the importance of relaxation for his well-being, acknowledging the necessity of taking breaks and recharging.
However, a strong sense of duty, responsibility, and perhaps a hint of urgency pressed him in the opposite direction.
Despite understanding the logic behind allowing oneself to relax, Rain found it challenging to heed that advice due to his overwhelming sense of duty. The weight of responsibilities and obligations constantly tugged at him, making it difficult to fully embrace the idea of unwinding and taking time off.
Thus, even though he recognized the necessity of relaxation, the demands of his duties made it challenging to prioritize his own rest and leisure.
In the end, Rain was able to relax doing something productive, which was focusing on improving the technique of the sea dragons. He didn't know if he was following the right path, but he was making some progress. After staying half a day in a state of awareness while sleeping as well, he was able to sense his body accumulating the energy and the results were obvious.

"I guess this is it…" Rain thought. "Still, only one hundred points per level? That doesn't seem a lot… if the max is ten thousand points, I guess I can see why the sea dragons aren't that hard to kill."
Rain wasn't sure if he learned the correct technique, but he sure tried… either way, now he just had to polish it a bit and then he would be able to teach everyone else.
The next two things that Rain had to do was to talk with the Magic people in ten days and then try to learn the technique of the storm dragons as well… Rain never saw them, so it will be hard to come up with the basics of the technique… even if Isa told him.
"I have to talk with Branden and Esmeralda about what we can do to buy more time," Rain thought. "They didn't bring up the topic today, so they truly wanted to relax for once… I might have changed their minds."
