Chapter 733 Invincible?
This focused approach would enable them to delve deeply into their work, improving productivity, efficiency, and the quality of their output. Rain believed that encouraging and facilitating Deep Work sessions could significantly aid individuals dealing with substantial workloads, helping them accomplish more within a given time frame while also having time for their family…
Rain applied deep work pretty much in everything he did… but he trained that for years to be possible. Maybe that was why he had made so much progress in just two decades. His kids were also showing a lot of progress thanks to that… Rain didn't teach them anything about deep work, but they were doing it involuntarily just by copying him. It was endearing, and it was worrisome as well.
The next day, Rain and his family went to pay a visit to Branden and Esmeralda to see their kid and as expected, things were quite noisy there. Seara and Terra helped Esmeralda with that while Rain decided to help Branden with his schedule.
"I should ask to be paid for this, I am not your secretary," Rain said. "Anyway… from this day onward, with the exceptions of emergencies, you will work like this."
Rain showed Branden's schedule for him… one that he didn't ask for, so he wondered what Rain was up to. It was weird since Branden would only work for six hours a day and he would have days off too. That was unthinkable for someone in his position. Regardless, he had to work from eight until noon and then from four in the afternoon until six.
"During these time windows, you will focus only on working, and during the other times, you can do whatever you want," Rain said. "Don't worry about anything else when you are working and don't worry about work when you are doing anything else."
"... What is the point of this?" Branden frowned.
"It will be troublesome for me if you die. Your seal is useful, after all," Rain said. "Also, if you fall, then Esmeralda will follow you after due to her many responsibilities and if she falls, then everything else will fall on my hands. When that happens, I will just abandon the country."
"You are honest if anything…" Branden said and then laughed a bit. Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire
Branden wasn't completely sure of that plan, but he didn't know anyone more successful than him in a lot of fields, so he decided to test that for one week. In the end, it it didn't take long for Branden to notice the changes, and he finally understood the meaning of working smart.
While he was completely focused, Branden worked more efficiently when he didn't waste time thinking about anything else. After those four hours, he felt a bit mentally tired, but after spending time with his family, he was fully recharged in the late afternoon for two more hours of work, and those two passed in the blink of an eye.
On his day off, Branden took Esmeralda and Rein to pay a visit to Rain and thank him, but while he relaxed on the garden and ate with Seara and Terra, Rain was standing still with his arms crossed while looking in the distance.
"... Let me guess, you told me to have days off, but you don't have them," Branden said.
"I told you, I am built like a tank," Rain said.
"He doesn't relax for one minute during the day, so we are used to it," Terra said while shrugging. "At least that makes him so tired that his body doesn't have even the energy to snore at night."
"You have a lot of energy at night then, since you snore a lot," Rain said.
"I don't snore… it is just that I sleep in bad positions," Terra said. "You have some habits as well when sleeping as well, actually… never mind."
The conversation was about to take a weird turn, so Terra decided to shut up. In the end, the matter ended when a blast of wind suddenly flew from Rain's body… no one felt any magic in the air, so they wondered what Rain had done… he certainly didn't move.
The same thing happened several times and eventually, they got sick of waiting for an explanation. Only to find Rain with a smug expression on his face… they had fallen for the trap. Seara and Terra got annoyed and pinched his sides, but that only made him feel even better.
"I was just testing a new technique that I thought," Rain said. "It is nothing advanced, but it sure is useful to make people attack me carelessly and make them regret their choice. Try to attack me with anything."
Seara and Terra looked at each other, wondering what Rain was up to… just telling what the technique could do was better, but Rain wanted to show off. In the end, Terra stepped in and launched a barrage of punches at Rain, she held back a little, so she didn't suffer any damage when she suddenly punched an invisible wall that stopped her attacks.
Terra moved away while looking at her fists… then she tried again while using Magic Eyes, but she didn't see any mana around Rain or any suspicious movements of energy.
Seara tried the same thing by firing a bunch of water at Rain from all directions, but they all stopped half a meter away from him and exploded in the air. Even the ones that targeted his back didn't get any closer to him.
"That sure is interesting…" Branden said. "Doesn't that make you invincible?"
"No way, it is just a trick and it only works against those slower and with attacks only at a certain level," Rain said. "I am just moving my arms fast enough after relaxing them as much as possible. It isn't a new super powerful technique, but it will have its uses. Until I can come up with some groundbreaking ideas, sticking to the basics like this will do the job."
