Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 693 Eaten

Chapter 693 Eaten

Rain swiftly organized the warriors, orchestrating a strategic regrouping and ensuring each fighter consumed potions to prepare for the next battle. Calculating the dragons' relentless advance, he realized that by noon the following day, the beasts could reach the capital.

The urgency of the situation pressed upon him, compelling Rain to send a crucial message—warning the citizens of the capital about the impending threat and urging evacuation. This difficult reality dictated that, under the prevailing circumstances and within the narrow time frame, slaying more than twenty dragons seemed an impossible challenge.

"... Seara, you will have to return to the capital and inform those two of the situation," Rain said. "We will send other reports soon and we also need someone to report to us the conditions in the other areas of the kingdom. If nothing happens, you can make more warriors come to help us."

"... All right," Seara said after a long sigh. "Be careful and look after him."

Seara knew that Terra had to stay behind to heal the injured warriors since she was the best healer of the kingdom. Saving one life will be more than necessary for the future of the raging Phoenix.

Seara looked for the closest part that was connected to the tunnels and soon left while Rain and the others were dashing through the night to the next battle.

Just when Rain and the others found two giant shadows in the distance, they soon also hear the approach of some reinforcements coming from the East… It looked like the warriors under the command of Roan finally arrived. They had two hundred warriors, five sea folk that could use sound magic to boost strength and twelve magic people that could enchant weapons with fire magic.

"All right, you guys enchant the weapons of ten warriors at a time, and you guys keep using sound magic to buff their strength," Rain said. "We will have to be careful while fighting at night."

The spears of the warriors were Enhanced with fire magic and they illuminated the surroundings and they dashed toward the leviathan dragon. When the creature realized that, it fired a blast of water toward them… at the same time, Rain made an ice spear fall from the sky, but the kraken dragon reacted fast enough to fire a Concentrated blast of water on the projectile.

The projectile lost speed and power, but it still hit the head of the kraken dragon and froze the forehead for a few seconds and paralyzed it.

"Shit… I didn't consider that my power would decrease since Seara left," Rain said and then used Impulse toward the monster.

The leviathan dragon tried to smash Rain to stop his charge, but it missed… in the end, Rain punched the frozen forehead and made chunks of frozen flesh fall around as the monster fell on the ground.

When Rain was about to finish the job and destroy the exposed brain of the monster, he suddenly felt a shiver and jumped to the side… in the next moment, the leviathan dragon smashed the head of its ally with a tail attack.

"... This fucking beast," Rain said when he landed and glared at the monster.

Rain truly wanted to kill that thing in one shot… but even if Rain used all of his best skills and buffs, he couldn't since it wouldn't be enough… Rain valued loyalty highly above many things and seeing a beast sacrificing an ally like that to kill him was truly annoying.

For a moment, Rain considered using the shield on his back, but soon he changed his mind about it… it was too soon and he didn't know what would happen if he tried that in such a situation and for longs periods of time.

Before Rain could think or do anything, the monster summoned that massive wall of water that the first leviathan dragon used against Rain… the warriors of the raging phoenix didn't have the chance to get close enough to get locked inside, and Rain didn't know if he should feel happy or not for it. Either way, Rain's options agains the beast were limited… or maybe not.

"I don't have time to waste against you, beast," Rain said and then used the ice version of Impulse toward the face of the monster.

Rain enhanced his guards with mana as well to make them freeze anything that they touch, but in the end, the monster opened its mouth and closed it when Rain disappeared in the darkness.

At the same time, the creature summoned water inside itself to drown him… it didn't take long until the water started to freeze and the creature almost smiled when it realized that Rain basically locked himself there…

Still, the monster soon realized whose plan was truly in action… it was Rain's. Before the water could freeze completely, it started to spin around Rain and soon an empty space around Rain was forced where he was free from the water. He summoned his ice blades and then touched the water and froze everything… to the point that the beast couldn't do anything aside from opening it.

In the next moment, the colossal dragon convulsed violently, its entire form quivering as the interior of its gaping maw was mercilessly torn apart . Rain, seizing the opportunity, manifested ice blades from his shin guards and started a frenzied whirlwind of spinning motions.

Each rotation sliced through the vulnerable ceiling within the creature's mouth, exploiting the relative softness compared to its hard exterior. The assault, a tempest of icy blades, wreaked havoc within the colossal beast, marking a daring and yet calculated maneuver by Rain.

Rain was bathed in the dragon's blood as he created a path to outside through the mouth of the creature and he felt that weird dizziness again, but he assumed that it was because of his attack… eventually, he found himself outside, but soon he returned to the wound and began to spin until he reached the brain of the beast.
