Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 692 Tenacity

Chapter 692 Tenacity

The warriors nodded, and then Rain made them move to the sides, and before long, he made them run… the attention of the dragons began to split as the warriors of the raging Phoenix approached, and soon the beasts fired massive blasts of water at them.

Their charge was completely stopped when they raised their shields… in fact, they began to be pushed backward. Such was the power of the dragons.

Still, that worked well for Rain, who had the chance to summon another ice spear and impale the head of the kraken dragon and kill it instantly. The group on the left side was freed from the attack while the second group was still being pushed away.

"How much mana did you use to do that?" Terra asked.

"Around one-fourth of my total, it would cost more if you weren't here," Rain explained. "Perhaps five percent less if the kids were around as well, but we don't want to traumatize them. I also feel like the leviathan dragons will bother me in my dreams for a while…"

When the first group was about to reach the second monster, the creature suddenly summoned waves of water in all directions, and that stopped them from advancing… even with Impulse, they couldn't do much when the ground was wet. Theirs relied on earth magic, after all.

Still, Rain soon made them float by controlling the ice under their feet again and made them approach the monster. Thanks to that, the beast stopped attacking the second group and then jumped to smash the first group.

While gulping and knowing that they weren't fast enough to avoid the attack, the warriors watched as the beast fell… but Rain split them and moved them to the sides and avoided deaths much to their relief. Still, they soon were forced to approach the raging beast and then they slashed the body fo the monster with their weapons.

From the leviathan dragon's perspective, it felt like the creature was being bitten by ants… two meters tall humans, at best, could only scratch so much of a three hundred meters long monster… Still, thanks to their speed, Limit Breaker and Magic Boost, their attacks began to pile up in numerous parts, even more so when Rain made the groups spin like they were a wheel, so they attacked the same area over and over again.

The beast grew annoyed and used its tail to smash the first group and swung its massive head to hit the other, but Rain was quick on his feet? His hands? Either way, he moved the warriors away from the beast and made them regroup with the other group.

"No matter how many times I see this… it is a weird way to command his troops," Terra whispered.

"Somehow, it feels like suit Rain," Seara said.

Although they didn't want Rain to hear that, he could hear it and he shared their thoughts, but that was quite fun… but Rain didn't have time to enjoy himself. Controlling five hundred warriors like that was too straining for his mind, so Rain made some of them keep their distance and wait for an opening…

That decreased the strain on Rain's mind, but the damage caused was minimal… even though things were getting really bloody there. At the same time, it was getting darker, and Rain would have a hard time controlling his troops.

"... I have an idea…" Rain thought and then sent all of his warriors flying to the sky, even the ones he wasn't controlling before.

Terra and Seara wondered what Rain was plotting, but they didn't have to disrupt his focus… but they couldn't help but sweat cold when the warriors disappeared on the clouds. Before long, Rain pointed his hands at the monster and then almost instantly, an ice spear appeared above the creature and then pierce one of its wounded parts.

The ice spear Rain unleashed resembled a colossal harpoon, adorned with numerous massive barbs along its length. Each barb, strategically placed, seemed designed with the explicit intent of making it virtually impossible to extract the spear once it found its mark. The weapon exuded a menacing cold aura, promising a grip so tenacious that any attempt to dislodge it would be met with formidable resistance. Its formidable design suggested not only a means of piercing its target but also a cunning strategy to ensnare and incapacitate, leaving the adversary entangled in a web of icy thorns.

When the leviathan dragon was hit by it, even though it only pierced a couple of meters, it made the creature shake all over…

"Now I want to see you trash around," Rain said.

The warriors began to fall one after the other, toward the ice spear and they immediately realized what they had to do. Before the beast could react, they reached the spear and slammed the butt of the weapon with their shields.

After they hit the weapon and made them pierce a few more centimeters with each hit, Rain pushed them away with wind magic and made them land far away from the monster. Before long, the fifty meters long ice spear pierced and froze the spine of the monster and paralyzed the creature.

"What tenacity… it is still alive after all this," Rain furrowed his eyebrows.

Although the beast couldn't move, it was able to summon water around itself in order to keep the enemies away. Still, that had been a bad move since it was only a slow measure… Rain quickly used Impulse and then when he got close enough, he touched the spear and made it spin violently with the remains of his mana.
