Chapter 690 More mysteries

Rain's head suddenly felt fuzzy, a strange sensation that left him momentarily disoriented. As if a wave of heat surged through his body, combating the prevailing cold. It was an uncomfortable feeling, but thankfully, it dissipated quickly, leaving Rain to wonder about the brief and unusual experience.

"What the hell was that…" Rain thought while checking his body.

The unknown skill leveling up made Rain raise his guard… he didn't recall using any weird skills, and the unknown skills that he used had been maxed out a long time ago, like Magic Boost. Something felt off, but Rain didn't know what it was…

Rain could think about that later, so he decided to check things on the nearest areas… it didn't take long for Rain to find some pairs of dragons and while the battle between him and the other two lasted around ten minutes, those dragons could have helped, but they didn't it. At the same time, they crossed a few kilometers as well…

"We thought that they were competing, but…" Rain thought while furrowing his eyebrows. "How we can explain this behavior then?"

As Rain thought more about that, he considered on the implications of dragons' seemingly indifferent attitude toward the deaths of their own kind. The initial notion that their lengthy existence might nurture profound connections among them had been shattered by the dragons' relentless pursuit of power. It raised questions about the true nature of these fearsome creatures.

Were dragons purely driven by an instinctive desire for dominance and strength, devoid of any emotional ties to their kin? The recent events and the dragons' ruthless actions hinted at a more primal and savage nature. Rain couldn't help but wonder if the dragons' longevity, instead of fostering bonds, merely intensified their individual pursuit of power.

The complexities of dragon behavior and motives became an intriguing puzzle for Rain to solve.

"... I can't kill all of them, so I can only stop those that I can," Rain said after he clicked his tongue. "Sorry for burdening you, Terra, Seara. You guys worked hard to amass all that mana, and I will have to spend it in a couple of minutes."

At least they would get a ton of experience in exchange for it. Rain undid the first seal and then the second and that alone made the two dragons nearby look in his direction again… if anything, they had some crazy senses and soon began to attack him.

Still, nothing happened to Rain… after doing that several times already, he condensed the air and creating a freezing spear in a matter of seconds and made it fall on the sea dragon. It only pierced its head a bit, but its entire body began to freeze and eventually fell apart thanks to its massive size… that the downside of being heavy and be made mainly out of water.

The skill Frostbite Infusion received 30.000 experience points.

The skill Frostbite received 30.000 experience points.

The skill Glacial Monarch received 30.000 experience points.

The High Human Path leveled up. All parameters + 40

Rain changed the paths again since he wanted to see the new skills of the High Human Path. It was a pity that he wouldn't get new paths on that one, but it was only natural.

In any case, before the leviathan dragon could try anything, Rain flew away and then looked for another kraken dragon to kill… he did that around twenty times before the seals finally ran out of mana.

"I am feeling the seals being powered again… they are using potions," Rain thought. "Still, it looks like we will have to evacuate the capital."

Despite Rain's strength and the unwavering support of his wives, the brutal reality remained: the overwhelming onslaught of dragons attacking the human territory proved a formidable challenge. Rain's prowess allowed him to swiftly dispatch a significant portion of them, particularly the kraken dragons, utilizing magic and precise strikes.

However, the tide turned when facing the formidable leviathan dragons.

These colossal creatures, marked by their exceptional resilience, posed a stark contrast to their kraken counterparts. Rain found himself unable to employ the same one-shot tactics that had proven effective before. The leviathan dragons demanded a different approach, pushing Rain to adapt his strategy in the midst of the chaotic battle.

Still, Rain knew that he had to buy more time, so even without mana, he went to keep heading west to kill some more kraken dragons. However, much to Rain's surprise… he realized that something was off… he felt the atmosphere changing in the human kingdom… and then it happened.

Amidst Rain's search for additional targets, a sudden disturbance rippled through the surroundings. Tremors accompanied by intensified dragon roars echoed ominously, indicating a heightened state of fury among the creatures. The resonance of their roars carried an undeniable weight, causing an instinctual unease in Rain.

The dragons, now seemed even more dangerous, their wrath escalating to a point where the very air seemed charged with aggression. In the face of this heightened hostility, a sense of urgency gripped Rain, prompting a consideration of the need to retreat and regroup before the situation escalated further.

Even though Rain's instincts saved him so many time, he disobeyed them for the first time… he kept looking for dragons to kill and he eventually found dragons, but they were already dead.

The dragons that Rain found were missing their necks… if felt like something massive and extremely sharp just took a bite of their necks and killed them instantly… even with their high regeneration, they were unable to do anything against it.

"What happened here… I thought that they could only die if their hearts stop beating and their heads are destroyed at the same time…" Rain thought when he approached the bodies.

Rain looked around, but he didn't find signs of battles… why would the dragons roar and make so much noise without fighting? At the same time, what would kill them so fast?
