Chapter 686 Success
Chapter 686 Success
As the dragons were taking their time, deciding their moves, Rain and his companions recognized the impending confrontation and started making preparations. The sea folk focused on advancing their sound magic, striving to refine their skills. Simultaneously, the magic squads dedicated themselves to improving their abilities in enchanting weapons and shields with magic.
While there were still some adjustments to be made, these efforts were gradually paying off, and progress was evident. Everyone understood that they needed to be as ready as possible for the inevitable clash with the dragons.
"Their levels aren't high enough, and I guess it is only natural since they just started using those skills," Rain thought as he watched the fire squad trying to enhance some iron rods as much as possible without damaging them. "Sending them to the dungeons could improve their magic considerably… but it will also feed the dungeons."
Only a handful kraken dragons died in their territory and by Rain's calculations, they speed up the dungeon break by at least one month… would it change anything if those guys use their magic in the dungeons? Probably not…
At that point in time, the dragons in their stupidity were also helping the other enemies that wanted to see the humans dead… with their deaths.
"Fuck it, let's make them level up those skills faster in the dungeons," Rain thought.
The fire squad was a bit far ahead than the others and once of the ice dungeons was nearby, so it would be a nice experiment. Just when Rain was about to talk with the fire squad about that, he felt a vibration coming from the magic radio and as soon as he grabbed it, it started to work.
"I really need to study this thing…" Rain said.
"I am sorry to say it, but this technology is beyond you," Isa said as if she immediately understood what Rain was talking about. "While my friend made this by himself, he had deep knowledge about our technology and research. Anyway, I felt great vibrations of mana a couple of days ago. Did something happen where you live?"

Rain wondered how crazy good her senses had to be to have felt that… the distance between the lands was over twenty thousand kilometers, after all. Regardless, Rain explained what happened to Isa.
"I see… I would say that they felt someone dangerous in that city and decided to attack the place," Isa said. "You said that their leader went missing a while ago, maybe she is back."
"I can't imagine her becoming strong enough to make dozens of dragons feel threatened," Rain said.
"We are also quite sensitive to some changes, while you killed dozens of dragons, they might find someone who smells more like dragons more dangerous," Isa said.
"What would they have done to smell more like dragons, bathed in their blood or something?" Rain asked
Isa's unexpected silence and subtle response stirred Rain's curiosity even more. He couldn't help but contemplate the implications of his seemingly nonsensical guess. The notion that people in history might have engaged in a practice as drastic as bathing in dragon's blood for strength struck him as both fascinating and unsettling.
It hinted at hidden secrets and unconventional paths to power, echoing the legendary tales of heroes from ancient myths. Rain couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story, and he pondered the potential depths of knowledge that lay obscured in the annals of the past.
"Well… you don't have to deny or confirm that," Rain said while considering a bunch of things like the fact that he are a bunch of dragons meat but he didn't feel anything from it. "Anyway, are those guys causing problems to you since we left without them?"
"They are guarding this area and will probably do that for at least a year," Isa said. "You don't have any more reasons to come and that will be another one."
Rain wanted to visit the demi humans land in order to learn about their technology, but Isa was dead set on keeping him away, even though he didn't make much progress analyzing the relics that he got from them.
"Regardless, a move like that was unexpected from the dragon's part," Isa said. "Even if only the young ones were forced to move, those who are thousands of years older might feel a bit challenged by the result. Prepare yourself because things will get more intense on your end."
"All right, thanks for the alert," Rain said.
Rain wished that he could have at least three months more worth of peace to train the support sound squads and the magic squads, but that would be hard to imagine. Fortunately, the magic people were producing a bunch of potions with the mana that they weren't using cultivating the land, so at least the new groups will have plenty of potions to use.
After sending the fire squad to one on the ice dungeons, Rain began to make some progress on his own training as well… little by little, he was able to control his sleep a bit more. For someone like him, waking up alongside the first sun rays was easy, since he did that for the last twenty years.
With that much focus, he was able to slowly be able to use Meditation Mastery while sleeping as well. It was a bit troublesome since sometimes he would wake up with a headache… it was probably because he used the technique even though at some point, his mana became full.
During those days, Rain also received the reports of the fire squad in the dungeon and while he told them to go easy and explore one floor every day at best, it seemed that on the second day of their stay, they already reached the fourth floor without even suffering injuries…
The spears and swords enhanced by the flames that they summoned actually exploded a bunch of the snow golems' bodies with each strike and made them stagger… that plan was working well.
