Chapter 637 Determination
Chapter 637 Determination
Rain returned home with mixed feelings. He realized that he couldn't trouble Seadrei any further and needed some time to think things through. Deciding to give it a shot, he tried using the shield, as Seadrei suggested, to test the influence of it. However, it didn't work as expected.
Instead of feeling greedier, Rain felt anger and resistance welling up within him as the shadow seemed to struggle against his efforts to block it out.
Frustrated and troubled, Rain understood that while he tried to stay calm, it was because he still had a long of rage inside him. It had a presence and will of its own, and his attempts to resist it only seemed to provoke it further. Rain knew that dealing with this issue was not going to be a straightforward task and that he would need to find another way to confront and control it.
"Maybe I should just try the technique of the storm dragon instead," Rain thought.
The only problem is that this technique would make the raging Phoenix a lot stronger… Unlike Rain, a lot of his troops valued their gear quite a lot since it was that valuable.
After thinking for a while, Rain realized that he probably had to change his approach… he will never become a really greedy guy since he already died once and lost the few things that he traded his life for on Earth, things that were cheap since he lost them in the blink of an eye.
Things like following the safest path to make others proud and they quickly turned their backs on him when his reputation was unfairly tarnished.
"I should forget this already since I learned my lesson and have been living accordingly," Rain thought. "In any case, I guess I will have to sharpen my mind if I want to find a solution to this. Starving myself takes too long, so I guess I will train really hard before I head to borrow Seadrei spear.'
After making the weights that weight over one ton each, Rain could feel his bones slowly cracking with each step that he took, but only that much wasn't fine, he needed more.
Level 70: Unbreakable Spirit (10)- Restores 1% of maximum health per level and removes negative status effects in critical situations once every 120 seconds.
Level 75: Precision Strikes (40) - Increases critical hit chance by 1% and critical hit damage by 1% per level.
Level 80: Swift Footwork (85)- Allows for swift movement and evasive maneuvers in combat, increasing movement speed by 10% per level for ten seconds.
Level 85: Masterful Grappling - Provides the ability to perform devastating throws and immobilization techniques, increasing grappling and submission damage by 1% per level.
Level 90: Supreme Resilience (22) - Increases resistance to physical ailments, poisons, and debuffs by 2% per level.
Rain equipped the physical path and put as many skills as possible on the slots.
Some of them were at a high level, so mastering that wasn't impossible… the problem was the skill Masterful Grappling… he never used Grappling techniques and it was hard to imagine how Rain could make that level up fast enough… unless he kills a dragon with a submission technique or something.
"Well, let's focus on what I can do," Rain shrugged and began to jog around his home while making the ground tremble and his heavy punches created blasts of air.
Before long, night fell and Rain kept going. Rain only stopped when he started to make too much noise in the middle of the night and Terra scolded him thanks to it. She sure has a light sleep since the noise didn't even wake up Sealyn.
"I guess the damage is making Unbreakable Spirit gain experience," Rain thought as he felt his body healing a bit faster than Gluttonous Recovery. "Still, this is taking far too long."
Rain decided to head to the dungeon, but only once he is barely able to move his limbs. Rain trained doing Handstands instead and thanks to it, he didn't make much noise and when morning came, his limbs were stiff and heavy as metal.
Despite that and the fact that he felt a bit grossed out, Rain went to the dungeon and then began to strangle the frost rats and bats in there… as expected, that made his progress increase quite a bit.
The Skill Masterful Grappling leveled up.
The physical path gained 130 experience points.
The Skill Masterful Grappling leveled up.
The physical path gained 140 experience points.
…
Although it made him waste some time, Rain got several levels on that skill on the first floor alone. When Rain tried that on the skeletons, he froze his fingers when he grabbed the necks of the skeletons and broke them, but at least that kill counted.
After doing that until noon, Rain felt satisfied and decided to take a nap before heading to the underground castle. He was exhausted, and thanks to it, he slept really well and when he woke up, his mind was as sharp as he had expected.
"Since it is unlikely that I can copy the greed of the dragons, I guess I will improve my own greediness," Rain thought.
The surge of inspiration didn't end there… Rain went to the garden and then saw his kids playing, firing water balls at each other. He wondered why he didn't the same at his age, since it would have been very fun to get stronger like that. Then again, when he was at their age, he had the mind of someone who had lived for almost thirty years and he only saw training in overly serious activities.
While looking at them and smiling, Rain recalled that mana was the physical manifestation of the power of the mind and soul… the dragons learned their techniques and Isa considered them corrupted because of their negative effects. Still, the trick laid on the strength of their spirit. With that in mind, Rain made another vow to his kids.
"No matter what, I will obtain all the power, knowledge, and resources that I need to protect you two," Rain thought.
In the next moment, Rain already noticed the changes…
