Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 454 Preparing for the Zombie Challenge

Chapter 454 Preparing for the Zombie Challenge

Shane sat up in his bed, carefully reading the message from the system.

"Zombie Challenge…" Shane smiled as this event wasn't entirely new to him. There was an event similar to this in other Apocalypses.

In the A.I. Rebellion, he reached Level 59 and failed the 60th level; in the Fairy Realm Invasion, he reached the 89th level and failed the 90th mark. However, the difference here was the fact that the Challenge Event in this Apocalypse could only last for 72 hours. On the previous apocalypses, on the other hand, stayed for a whole week.

'Why is it so short? I should've been a week, and there should be some big breaks every time you clear ten levels.' Shane thought to himself as he realized that this Zombie Apocalypse was a lot harder than the previous two. There were simply too many restrictions.

Anyway, for everyone else, this was an entirely new type of event, one that would test their limits as a Survivor.

What was good about this, however, was the fact that there were only benefits in this event. Since you won't really die during this time, you could fight without worrying about being infected by the virus at all.

Furthermore, unlike the Boss Raid or Zombie Wave events, where cooperation with allies provided an advantage, this challenge would isolate everyone, forcing all to hone their skills, gears, and combat strategies.

"Interesting…" Shane muttered, glancing at his inventory.

He'd need to ensure he had enough consumables, gear, and Spirit Stones to sustain himself through countless levels of combat.

After some time, his companions--Lysandra, Vernon, Kael, and Nia—gathered in his tent after learning about the announcement.

Of course, the three were just recruits and weren't informed by the system, but Lysandra informed the three. After all, once the 'Foreign Survivors' disappeared, these three recruits would be left here in the tent.

"What do you think, Shane?" Lysandra asked. "This event… it's unlike anything we've faced before. It's a good thing that we will not die, but I wonder if there's something I'm missing."

Shane gently nodded after seeing how Lysandra was being cautious. "Don't think too much… The only problem here is that we'll be missing for 72 hours. It means our shelter and recruits would be left here to fend for themselves. If a Zombie Horde or the Wild Shelters decided to attack, it would be a problem… However, I don't think we should be worried about that..." Shane said as he looked at the three recruits. These three were incredible, and he knew that he had nothing to worry about.

Seeing that Lysandra understood what he meant, he continued.

"We need to get milestones… The 30th and 60th levels will give us at least a Legendary Item for sure. I'll help you prepare… It's a test of endurance, not just strength. You need to be well equipped."

"T-that's true… It's a chance to get rewards that could put us ahead of other Survivors." Lysandra muttered.

In any case, Shane also received a message from Raze last night about the supply of Talismans made by Aya, who was safely protected within the Springriver Manor.

She was a Shaman who could make several talismans. They were Talisman of Lightning, Talisman of Healing, Talisman of Insight, Warding Talisman, Talisman of Strength, and Talisman of Illumination.

Needless to say, the main Talismans she was making were the Talisman of Lightning and Talisman of Healing.

Though she would also make the other Talismans from time to time, her main focus was the first two since they were extremely useful in their situation.

Anyway, Raze had already distributed these talismans to every member of the Clan, but Shane received most of them for situations like this. This way, he could distribute more of them to those who really needed them.

In this case, Lysandra only had a few of these Talismans and Shane planned to give more of them to her.

"Right… You're talent is really good. Do you think you can learn making Talismans as well?" Shane asked after recalling Lysandra's Talent.

[ Quick Learner ( Epic Talent ): The Survivor have an unparalleled capacity for rapid acquisition and mastery of new skills, knowledge, and abilities. This talent enables the Survivor to adapt swiftly to various situations, allowing them to excel in diverse environments and challenges. The Quick Learner can absorb information like a sponge, processing complex data and techniques with remarkable speed and accuracy. ]

Lysandra was shocked but she didn't think that it was impossible.

"If I can watch the Shaman… I might pick up the skill to make them." She replied with a hint of anticipation. To be honest, she already copied several skills from Shane, though they weren't high-level skills just yet.

Considering how difficult those skills were, She believed that learning some crafting skills wouldn't be as hard as learning Shane's Shadow Hunt or Predator's Surge Skills.

Of course, Shane was fully aware that Lysandra was learning his abilities. He knew about her Quick Learner talent from the very start, after all.

He actually liked this a lot since it wouldn't take very long before her Clan would get another powerful member.

"That would be cool if you really did…" Shane muttered.

The group then chatted for a while as they planned to stay in this abandoned village, where they pitched a tent.

Kael grinned, cracking his knuckles. "Well, leave this place to us…"

"Right… We will be placing some Warding Talismans so Zombies won't come here, but don't let your guard down," Lysandra added.

"Mhmm… I'll also leave some tokens for you guys here…" Shane said as he handed them 50 tokens each…

[ Pixie Oak Safety Token: This enchanting token is crafted from the Pixie Oak, known for its resistance to decay. When activated, the Pixie Oak Token brings out the essence of the pixies, granting a burst of healing energy and a protective shield that envelops the bearer.

Effect:

Instant Remedy: Restores 50% of maximum health instantly and grants a 30% speed boost for 10 seconds.

Activation Cost: 20 Spirit Points

Protective Aura: Grants a Protection Shield that absorbs incoming damage for 30 seconds.

Activation Cost: 40 Spirit Points

Usage: 10/10

Remarks: made by Shadow Strider ]

These Tokens that he had made quite some time ago would very helpful in case this place was somehow attacked by the Zombies. To be honest, Shane still felt a bit worried since he would be away for 72 hours while these were out here without proper shelter…

After some thought, Shane turned to his inventory and found some items that might be useful.

"Ahem… You might want to consider using this if you're in a tight spot. This is a permanent effect though, so I will leave plenty of food here just in case." Shane said, which confused the three Recruits.

However, they soon realized what was going on and were all surprised. Even Lysandra was quite interested and want to have it.

The item Shane just showed was none other than the Serum he had obtained before. They would appear in his Reputation Store from time to time, and he would purchase them in bulk. Furthermore, with his refresh voucher, he could purchase more of them multiple times.

[ Titan Serum: A groundbreaking concoction designed to enhance physical abilities beyond human limits. Once injected, the Serum rapidly integrates with the user's physiology, unlocking latent potential and transforming them into a formidable force.

Effects: Strength Boost, Enhanced Reflexes, Heightened Endurance, Accelerated Healing

Side Effects: Satiety Debuff ]

Currently, his Titan Serum was already 70 pieces!

"Haha… Can I have two of them?" Kael asked after seeing the Serum.

"It didn't say that you can't have more but I don't suggest it. You might have to eat a whole pig as a side effect." Shane said as he was still concerned about the Satiety Debuff.

Anyway, after settling this matter, Shane stood, stretching and preparing himself for the long day ahead. "We've got 24 hours to prepare. Let's make the most of it."

In the meantime, Jillian sat on the veranda of the Springriver Manor. Her golden harp rested on her lap as her fingers strummed its strings.

As she did this, the soft melody filled the air, creating a pleasant harmony that complemented the warm glow of the late afternoon sun.

She was still as beautiful as ever with her tanned skin and angelic bard attire. Perhaps she only lacked some golden circle and other golden accessories to make her truly angelic.

Anyway, her talent as a bard was well-known among the Survivors of Eclipse Revenant. With her Epic Talent: Famous Bard, she was able to boost morale, soothed the wounds of the injured, and turned even hostile negotiations in the clan's favor.

Yet, as she stopped playing, a wry smile tugged at her lips.

"This is bad," Jillian muttered… She really wanted to get stronger too but this Zombie Challenge would not benefit her at all.

"It would be amazing if I even passed Level 2." She sighed, knowing the Zombie Challenge Event wasn't a stage where her Talent could be used.

She lacked direct combat abilities, relying instead on her melodies and charisma to support others. In an event that demanded personal endurance and strength, she'd probably die immediately.

Thankfully, however, Shane didn't forget about her.
