Chapter 188: Holding back.
Chapter 188: Holding back.
"Gunnar! Are you alright?!" Vincze shouted as he looked down at Gunnar who was lying on the road after he took a massive blow from the serpent. "Just stay there! We will do something about this thing!" Vincze continued and then looked at the serpent’s head staring at the sky.
"To think Gunnar got knocked down by a single hit is unbelievable. We know how powerful this thing is," Nagy said as she looked at Gunnar who was still in shock and stunned by what had happened to him.
Dark clouds formed and fierce lightnings spread out throughout the sky. The lightnings weren’t white or yellow, they were red and purple which was quite terrifying to look at.
Nagy and Vincze looked at the sky and were confused because it should be cold since it was going to rain. The wind that hit their faces was warm, and their warmth was like melting hot for normal human beings. They both then looked around and saw glasses shattered and melted because of the wind.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Vincze said as he held his spear tightly.
The moment the lightning struck the ground, rain started to pour, and it wasn’t water, it was lava and it was glowing red. They both knew it was coming and so Nagy drank a potion that she had created and poured herself with it.
"What’s that?" Vincze asked with his eyebrows furrowed.
"You’ll know when you drink it, here," Nagy answered and tossed one to Vincze.
Vincze drank it and poured his face with it, and then he felt numb and he couldn’t feel a thing. It was a weird experience because he moved his body but he felt nothing as if he was in a dream.
"It makes your body immune to pain and it increases your regeneration power. I’ll give this to Gunnar, you go and deal with that thing first," Nagy said and then jumped off the building to help Gunnar.
Vincze activated his upgraded skill from [Prudent] to [Sagacious] skill which made him capable of seeing far into the future of the moment and the situation he was in and all the possible outcomes. Not only could it see the possible outcomes, but the skill could also borrow the power of himself in the future. With that being said, he made himself twice stronger and followed the best route for the outcomes.
Vincze jumped and collapsed the building he was standing on because of his strength. He pointed his spear at the serpent’s head and stabbed the serpent’s jaws, but his spear was stuck and couldn’t penetrate deeper. It wasn’t because the weapon wasn’t strong enough, it was because he lacked momentum, and the fact that the serpent’s skin was thick.
"It’s exactly like what happened in the future, huh?" Vincze raised his eyebrows and pulled the spear. "Well, let’s try the next method," Vincze said as he flew away from the serpent.
He took a deep breath and then started to fly toward the serpent and pierced it until he came out from among the others. He kept doing that over and over as he increased his speed and momentum until he left after images of himself around the serpent.
Gunnar drank the potion and looked at the serpent roaring in pain as black blood like tar fell to the ground and melted everything it touched. The lava rain and the black blood covered the whole city, but no matter how fast Vincze wounded the serpent, the serpent almost regenerated as fast as him.
"Let’s help him out," Gunnar said as he grabbed his axe and raised his shield.
"Can you bring it down? I can do something once it hit the ground," Nagy asked.
"That’s my plan. I’m going to do what it did to me," Gunnar nodded his head and then he flew up, leaving Nagy behind.
"More... I need more power..." Vincze mumbled as he could no longer see anything and only followed the route he saw in the future. His vision had turned black and the fact he couldn’t feel his body made him push through his limit which was the real effect of the potion.
Gunnar looked at the serpent and struggled to keep up with the damage that Vincze did. It gave him an opportunity, and so he flew even higher and beyond the clouds. The moment he reached the stratosphere, he dove down as he held his shield with both hands.
"Eat this you stupid worm!" Gunnar screamed and hit his shield on the serpent’s head as he activated his [Outlast] skill.
The impact was so massive that the clouds were pushed away and created a giant circle of clear sky. The shockwave flattened the remaining buildings and nobody could survive the shockwave.
The serpent slowly fell because it lost consciousness from the attack that Gunnar did. It took the serpent a few seconds before it regained consciousness, but Vincze had already cut off half of its body.
The moment the serpent hit the ground, Nagy had been waiting for it on the ground. She then grabbed her katars from her back and held them tightly as she walked toward the serpent.
"My job here is done," Vincze said as he appeared right next to Gunnar. "The final blow is all in her hand," Vincze pointed out. Stay connected via empire
Nagy was bestowed with [Demure] skill which made her exist and didn’t exist at the same time. She erased her presence to the extent that nobody could sense her at all as if she didn’t exist. That skill was upgraded as well during training and turned into [Phantasm] which made something unreal into reality.
"I have never created something this big before..." Nagy took a deep breath as she closed her eyes and raised her right hand and activated the [Phantasm] skill.
The whole city was covered with an invisible dome, and then suddenly something appeared in the sky like a mist that reflected the city. Slowly the mist turned into a giant katar, the same as what Nagy was holding, and the katar slowly solidified and became real enough.
"I’m sorry if it didn’t work," Nagy opened her eyes and swung her katar down to the ground, and stabbed it deep into the ground.
The massive katar that was two times bigger than the serpent itself quickly hit the ground and stabbed the serpent. The impact caused a massive earthquake and the ground started to crumble and collapse. London had turned into a giant sinking hole with thick dust that covered its surroundings.
Vincze and Gunnar landed right behind Nagy, and they wondered if her attack was enough to kill the serpent. The moment the dust dispersed, they looked into the hole and saw the serpent’s body had been mashed and leaving only its skin.
"I think you should be on the top ten," Gunnar said as he looked at the damage Nagy did.
"I haven’t mastered the skill yet, and I have to put all my focus to create the Phantasm. Compared to you guys, it’s already a loss if I’m that vulnerable when I’m fighting you guys," Nagy replied as she sighed because she was nervous that her attack would fail.
"Our side is done, now let’s check on Sven and the others," Vincze said as he looked at the distance and could see the fight getting fiercer.
Gunnar and Nagy nodded their heads and then went straight to where the fight was.
When they arrived they saw Sven, Nagy, and Gerrard busy fighting Astarte, her swords, and her hair. They were surprised by how fast Sven and Astarte were since they could only see the afterimages of those two.
"Damn, even though he used his skill he’s still no match for her?" Vincze asked in disbelief.
The shockwaves were hitting their faces from Sven’s scythe and Astarte’s arms clashing. Suddenly the clashing stopped and then a final clash could be seen and the shockwave pushed everyone down to the ground.
When they all stood up to see what had happened, they were dumbfounded when they saw Sven lying on the ground. Astarte was fine and she didn’t even have a single scratch on her body. She then turned around and noticed that the serpent had died and looked at Gunnar and the others who had come back.
"What a letdown," Astarte said and transformed her arms back to normal. "Let’s meet again another time," Astarte walked away and spread her wings then flew away.
They weren’t bothered to catch up on her since they knew it would only bring in more problems. Sven dropped his scythe and stared blankly at the sky as he spread his arms and legs open. Gunnar and the others came to check on him, and he was fine with only a few scratches on his face that were slowly being regenerated.
"She was holding back the whole time, I can’t fucking believe it," Sven chuckled as he shook his head. "So that’s the demon that’s equal to the Princes of Hell, interesting," Sven clenched his fists and smiled in excitement.
