Chapter 180 A new pack leader.
Chapter 180 A new pack leader.
Mykel, Elena, Amaryllis, and Beldathiel were still at the altar and they looked at Mykel who was staring into the distance. They wondered what he was thinking about and what was in his mind, and so Elena used her [Special Bond] skill to read his thoughts.
Elena was confused when she could no longer read Mykel's thoughts and emotions. At that moment she realized there was a wall between her and Mykel that made her feel uncomfortable. She realized that the power inside him would only make him further and further away from her.

"What are you thinking right now, Mykel?" Elena asked and looked at Mykel's back.
Mykel glanced at Elena and immediately noticed that she could no longer read his thoughts and emotions. He had the same thought as Elena when he realized he started to distance himself from everyone because of the power he couldn't control. He wondered what would happen to him once the power became uncontrollable.
"I'm thinking the fact that the power is the answer to fulfill my goal," Mykel answered and didn't look back at Elena. "I was lying to myself to believe that I want to get rid of this power so she would buy it and would tell me to get rid of it," Mykel added.
"You were lying?" Elena asked in disbelief because she bought it as well. She believed him because back then, she could feel that he was genuinely desperate to get rid of the power.
"Only half of it. Of course, I do want to get rid of the power, but not because I'm desperate," Mykel paused as he turned around. "The real reason is that I want to know how to get rid of the power so I can use that against him, and erase the power inside him," Mykel continued.
Elena stared Mykel in the eye and finally could feel what everyone felt when they were listening to Mykel. She realized that she had no idea if he was telling the truth or not, or if he had something planned that only he knew.
"Are you telling the truth?" Elena asked.
"Why would I lie to you? Have I ever lied to you before?" Mykel asked back and furrowed his eyebrows because it surprised him that Elena was suspicious of him.
Amaryllis put her hand on Elena's shoulder and tried to comfort her and put her at ease.
"No," Elena shook her head with her eyes closed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that," Elena explained and she felt guilty for doubting Mykel.
Another wall had been created between Mykel and Elena that only made things complicated between them. Amaryllis could see it and even Beldathiel was awoken by the tension between those two.
"Loyalty can only be gained through fear and true love," Beldathiel said as she sat up. "She's neither of them," Beldathiel pointed out as she looked at Mykel as if she was suggesting he should solve it immediately.
Beldathiel got up and grabbed Amaryllis' hand, and then dragged her away from the altar. Mykel and Elena watched them leave and realized those two wanted them to make up and prevent things from getting worse between them.
"Should I reconsider Uriel's offer?" Mykel asked as he leaned against the railing.
"No!" Elena jolted from her seat and glared at Mykel. "Don't you ever think about that," Elena said and she started to breathe heavily.
"We both know it won't go well for both of us in the future when the distance between us is getting wider and wider. We might be able to solve this problem now, but once we can't fill the gap, there's only suspicion and doubt," Mykel pointed out as he stared Elena in the eye.
Elena approached Mykel and then hugged him so tightly with her trembling hands. For the first time ever Mykel could feel fear from Elena, and it was painful to watch her like that.
"I have a solution for the problem and it will be good for both of us," Mykel said as he hugged her back and gently kissed her head. "Do you want to hear it?" Mykel asked.
Elena nodded her head slowly and then looked up at Mykel so she could see his expression.
"I used to be a lone wolf that create my own pack and I have led the pack until now. Everyone follows me out of fear and true love, and they never questioned my leadership as Beldathiel said earlier," Mykel explained as he gently stroked Elena's long hair. "Right now, there's this little wolf, the most powerful one with no fear of what she's going to face. A powerful little wolf that slowly take over the pack, and now she's doubting the leader because she no longer understands what's inside the leader's head," Mykel continued as he lifted Elena.
Elena was startled when Mykel lifted her and didn't know what to do or react.
"To keep the peace in the pack, the leader has decided to choose the little wolf to become the new leader. The leader has become an elder, and now the elder will follow the new leader because of his true love for her," Mykel said with a gentle smile. "I want you to replace my position and I will follow everything you said. My love for you is bigger than anything in this whole universe," Mykel added.
Elena was dumbfounded and then Mykel put her down as he looked at her waiting for an answer. She then thought about it thoroughly and found out that the solution was great to avoid future problems and misunderstandings.
"But those who follow you because of true love, how am I going to get their loyalty?" Elena asked.
"I heard they have a rank of power. Why don't you subdue them and become their number one?" Mykel suggested with a smirk and eyebrows raised. "Since you have asked that question, does that mean you will accept your role as the new leader of the pact?" Mykel asked.
"Yes. I'll take the role and take all the responsibilities that we have done in the past," Elena answered as she nodded her head.
They both then went to the guild headquarters and summoned everyone to the meeting room. Everyone was wondering if the time had finally come for them to make a move, but they were shocked when Mykel announced that Elena would take over everything.
"What's going on? Why suddenly you made her the new leader?" Aurea asked with suspicion.
"To prevent unwanted problems in the future, and that's all I can say right now," Mykel answered. "Now that I have announced it, are there any of you who have an objection? Or have something to say to your new leader?" Mykel asked.
"She's your flesh and bone, and not to mention that she led us for a hundred years during the new game that you created. To be honest, we have no objections," Luciel answered and represented her sisters. "But, as a leader. You need to show your capabilities not only the decisions you make to solve the problems but also how capable you are in using force to solve the problems," Luciel added.
"A leader has to be the strongest and strong enough to defeat all your enemies even if you're outnumbered without relying on anyone," Mykel said as he looked at Elena. "This is your final test. Defeat them all and prove your worth," Mykel added and then everyone in the meeting room stood up and pulled out their weapons from thin air.
Elena looked at Jeanne, Aurea, Luciel, and Amaryllis who were ready to fight her. She couldn't hold the excitement and then nodded her head as she looked at Mykel.
Everyone was brought to the Void Realm and everyone was dumbfounded when the Void had turned into the brightest place they had ever seen. They realized those golden mists that floated in space were Elena's life energy that had been left out there.
"As far as I can see, there's nothing but her life energy. This place might be the only place with a density that is enough to destroy the whole universe if it got released," Shelly pointed out as she looked around. "She might be the strongest enemy we will ever fight," Shelly added.
"Can't agree more," Jeanne nodded her head in agreement.
"Then doesn't that reassure you that there isn't as terrifying as this?" Mykel asked as he fixed his gloves.
"Mykel? What are you doing here?" Jeanne asked with her eyebrows furrowed.
"I'm a part of the team, and what else do you think I'm doing?" Mykel asked back with a smile as he looked at Jeanne. "You should focus on your opponent. She's not going to show any mercy," Mykel said and stared at Elena.
Elena took a deep breath and all the gold mist that spread out the whole universe suddenly entered her body. She then reached her hand forward at everyone in the distance, and then she tried to suck the life energy inside them. Amaryllis immediately created a barrier and prevented Elena from killing them by just sucking their life energy.
"Are you ready?" Elena asked with her left eyebrow raised and smirked at them.
