526. Adrianna and Amon.
526. Adrianna and Amon.
526. Adrianna and Amon.
"Like to fight, huh?"
"Go ahead, have a good fight. Let's see if you two can beat Black Adam."
Watching Black Adam, Doctor Fate, and Hawkman, who had been pushed into the mirrored space, Alex rolled his eyes and muttered to himself.
These two were just bored. Although Alex hadn't seen these two superheroes in person before, based on his understanding of Doctor Fate and Hawkman, they were usually quite normal. He didn't know why they were so worked up this time.
Since they wanted to face off against Black Adam, let them fight. After Black Adam slaps their heads around a bit, they'd probably calm down.
Alex wasn't sure about other universes, but in this one, Doctor Fate had only gotten his helmet less than two years ago, so he hadn't yet reached the level of the original Doctor Fate, who was a master of magic.
As for Hawkman, there was no need to mention him. He hadn't had his reincarnation memories for long. His combat abilities were strong, stronger than most members of the Justice Society, but compared to Black Adam, he was still a bit lacking.
As for Black Adam, he wasn't at his peak, but at least he hadn't weakened much due to the thousand-year seal. Even though he might be a little rusty after his release, after a few rounds, Black Adam would probably return to his prime.
The outcome of this battle was clear, no need to speculate further—it was already determined.
However, opening a mirrored space in this universe wasn't an easy task. After all, there was no such thing as a 'mirror dimension' here. Alex had to rely on his magical energy to construct a virtual space.
Fortunately, this universe had a dimension similar to a mirror dimension. Alex made some adjustments and quickly formed a mirrored space that covered all of Kahndaq.
Without the teleportation magic to open portals or create spaces, it would be quite difficult for the three of them to get out. Even the powerful Doctor Fate would likely be stuck in the "small black room" for at least three days.
Outside the mirrored space, the people of Kahndaq watched in confusion as the three superheroes suddenly vanished, their faces filled with strange expressions.
"Where did they go?"
"Why did they disappear?"
"It must be that bastard's magic! They took our heroes!"
"How could this happen?"
"Damn Justice Society!"
"Lapdogs!"
As the voices of the crowd grew louder, the people became increasingly agitated.
Kahndaq had been oppressed for so long, and they finally had a hero of their own, a legendary figure who fought against oppression.
But before Adam could overthrow the Intergang's atrocities, the heroes of the Justice Society had come and "taken" him away.
From great joy to great sorrow, at that moment, the hearts of all the people of Kahndaq were filled with endless anger, and they cursed the Justice Society.
To them, the Justice Society was now synonymous with the Intergang.
But this had nothing to do with Alex. He swiftly moved through the crowd, his gaze flicking around until it settled on a child in the distance.
Without Black Adam or the Justice Society around, the remaining members of the Intergang immediately took action. They quickly located the fugitive's position, split the crowd, and rushed toward the child and the woman beside him.
"Trouble, Amon, run!" the woman called urgently to her son.
"But… but Adam…" the boy looked at the disappearing Black Adam, sadness in his eyes.
"Stop with the buts, take the crown and go!" The woman pulled the boy's arm, ready to flee.
However, before they had run more than a few dozen meters, a large number of Intergang members appeared ahead of them. It was clear that the scattered members of the Intergang throughout the city had now gathered together.
Seeing the black barrels of guns aimed at them, the woman froze in shock, stopping in her tracks. Looking back, she saw that their retreat had been blocked by the pursuing gang members.
"This is bad."
Soon, with their superior numbers and advanced weaponry, the Intergang members surrounded the woman and the boy. They had no chance of escaping.
In this situation, the woman quickly shielded her son behind her, her eyes full of hesitation.
She had finally found a chance to fight back. She had originally left Kahndaq, hoping for a better life. But for the sake of her country, she had resolutely chosen to return to her homeland.
Yet, she had never expected that after all her efforts, risking her life, everything would be ruined by the two heroes from the Justice Society.
Thinking of this, the woman's heart turned to ash.
Just as she was lost in thought, a man walked out from the ranks of the Intergang members.
"Give it up, Adrianna."
"Ishmael?! What are you…" Seeing this man, the woman, Adrianna, was stunned, as if seeing a ghost.
But Ishmael didn't respond to her shock. He simply sneered and spoke coldly.
"Hand over the crown. I give you my personal guarantee that the Intergang will let you and your son go free."
"Impossible! Don't even think about it!" Before Adrianna could speak, her son Amon shouted angrily. "Adam will come back and teach you a lesson! None of you will leave here alive!"
"Hmph."
Ishmael sneered and shook his head. "Originally, out of respect for our friendship, I was willing to spare your lives. But now, you don't seem to want to accept my mercy."
"Since that's the case..."
Ishmael raised his hand in a forward motion, signaling the members of the Intergang beside him to step forward and seize the crown.
Seeing Ishmael's gesture, several burly men immediately raised their guns and walked toward the mother and son.
Just as they were about to approach, suddenly, sparks erupted beneath Adrianna and Amon's feet.
Seeing this unbelievable sight, the burly men immediately stopped, and the surrounding members of the Intergang were also stunned, staring at the mother and son in confusion.
"What's going on?"
Ishmael looked at Adrianna in disbelief.
"What did you do? What's happening?!"
Having almost regained his rightful throne, with the crown only a step away, Ishmael didn't want anything to go wrong now.
"I—I don't know. This wasn't me!"
Not only the surrounding people, but even Adrianna and Amon were frozen in place.
They stood there, unable to move, staring at the spinning sparks beneath their feet and the constantly sparking embers, too afraid to make any move in case it led to disastrous consequences.
Just as everyone's attention was focused on the strange sparks, not knowing what they were, the sparks beneath Adrianna and Amon's feet suddenly opened up.
It was as if a spinning circle suddenly expanded, and a hole the size of a well appeared beneath them.
Losing their footing, a feeling of weightlessness struck them, and before they could even scream, before they could react, Adrianna and Amon fell straight through.
The astonishing event happened so quickly that by the time Ishmael and the Intergang members recovered, the spinning spark portal had already vanished. The only thing left on the ground was the swirling dust.
"..."
Ishmael stood there with his mouth agape, unable to believe that a cooked duck had flown out of his grasp.
He felt his lips dry, and his brain felt like it was stuck, unable to process what had just happened.
After collecting himself, Ishmael turned to an Intergang member standing nearby.
"Where are they?"
"I—I don't know..." The man looked just as stunned.
"Find them!"
Ishmael took a deep breath and roared.
"Why aren't you out there looking for them?!"
While Ishmael's furious shouting echoed through the city, Adrianna and Amon had long since stopped hearing it.
The two of them felt a flash in front of their eyes, as if they were falling from a great height. The scene around them rapidly moved upwards, and suddenly, the bright sunny environment disappeared, replaced by darkness, and a familiar sofa appeared beneath them.
Clank!
Before they could even process what was happening, Adrianna and Amon crashed into the sofa. Fortunately, the sofa was soft enough to cushion their fall, preventing any serious harm.
However, the suddenness of the situation startled a chubby man sitting nearby.
"What's going on? What just happened?!"
As soon as Adrianna hit the ground, she quickly got up. Having just been surrounded by armed men, her nerves were still on edge.
When she looked around and saw the familiar surroundings, her mind went blank. It turned out that they had returned to their home.
The chubby man wasn't anyone else but Adrianna's brother, Karim.
"Uncle Karim." Amon, holding a skateboard, climbed up and waved at Karim.
But Karim seemed too stunned to respond. He stared blankly at the ceiling, pointing up and then back at his sister and nephew.
"You... from up there... and then..."
Ignoring the dazed Karim, Adrianna quickly grabbed Amon's shoulder.
"The crown! What happened to the crown? Is it still in your bag?"
Amon was about to speak when Adrianna, in her haste, snatched the bag from his back, unzipped it, and looked inside, but it was empty, except for a few Batman comics.
"The crown?!" Adrianna looked at Amon, demanding.
"I—I hid it in my room. I thought carrying it around would be dangerous," Amon explained, looking at his anxious mother.
"Should I go get it for you?"
Hearing this, Adrianna froze for a moment, then let out a long sigh, her tense nerves relaxing.
Adrianna smiled and affectionately stroked Amon's cheek. Just as she was about to say something, a strange voice suddenly interrupted from not far away.
"No need."
At the door to Amon's room, a man in black stood leaning against the doorframe, holding an old stone crown in his hand.
"I took it out for you."
