?

Yarin's POV:

The scenery outside the window was daunting. Under such circumstances, the hostages did

not dare to be in contact with the outside world. Lily had to explain to them that the confusion was only visual.

"In fact, nothing is happening in the outside world. It's still the ordinary forest that we're familiar with."

When everyone was in a daze, it was already precious to have a leader. Lily's determination and calmness made the hostages believe her involuntarily, and began to line up by the window.

However, some of them seemed hesitant. They lingered around their dead companions and were unwilling to leave.

Lily and I couldn't help but feel bad in the face of this.

"Please leave. I guarantee that these people will not die in vain." Lily came to them and comforted them in a low voice. "I'm sure they don't want to see more people end up like them, right? The safety of the living is the gentlest comfort for the dead."

A girl suddenly burst into tears. She fell beside Grayston and grabbed her cold hand. "I should be the one lying here! It was Margaret who saved me. She pushed me away and left with those b*stards for me... They killed her. I was supposed to be the one who should die, but now she's the one lying here..."

She was wearing the same badge as Miss Grayston. They were both interns in the Archives. With her outburst, the room was gradually filled with weak sobs. People mourned for their dead colleagues, wept for their own experiences, and trembled for the uncertain future.

Time waits for no man. No matter what, we had to move away before we were discovered. Lily tugged at the girl up gently and firmly, saying, "Let's go, let's go."

The girl staggered to her feet, and a drop of hot tear fell on Miss Grayston's pale and cold face. It slid down her cheek into her hair and disappeared as if this young, sad undead had left the world with one last reluctance.

Even though we tried our best to hurry, the worst-case scenario still happened.

When the clear sounds of fighting came from the corridor outside, only half of the hostages had escaped. The remaining people became anxious when they heard the sounds from the outside world.

People began to speed up and didn't even care about the safety distance. One by one, they climbed onto the rope woven from clothes. Fortunately, we used enough cloth, and the rope was thick enough. Even if we carried so many people, it wouldn't break.

However, when the tightly locked office door was violently kicked open, seven or eight hostages were still there.

Lily immediately looked at the newcomer warily and assumed an attacking stance. I suddenly turned around and felt dizzy. I had been away from my body for too long and was about to reach the limit of my body.

Surprisingly, the people who came were not vicious criminals but a few trembling hostages with frightened faces.

"Towson!"

I heard someone behind me cry out in surprise, but Lily immediately stopped him from moving forward. The man named Towson also shouted, "Don't come over, let's go, let's go!"

With our solemn gazes, a child slowly moved away of his trembling body.

No, he was not a child. He was just too short.

He looked only one meter tall, but his child-like body had a head of grey hair. His eyes bulged, his chin was short, and his nostrils flared as he panted heavily.

Without a doubt, this was a dwarf of some age.

When he saw us, he laughed sharply and pulled the rope in his hand. The hostages around him wailed in pain.

The ropes wrapped around these people pierced through various parts of their bodies. The ropes around the wounds had already drunk enough blood, showing a dark red color.

Just like the old man, it was obvious that this was the work of this dwarf.

"You'd better let them go," Lily said in a deep voice. "Otherwise, I promise you that no matter how many holes you put in their bodies, they will come true on you."

The dwarf replied sharply, "You're the one who didn't see the situation clearly. Little girl, are you worried about them? That's unnecessary because you'll be the next to join them!"

My vision blurred as soon as I finished speaking, and the dwarf suddenly disappeared. It wasn't until Lily dodged and knocked over the chair that I realized that it wasn't that the dwarf had disappeared but that his movements were so fast that Lily couldn't dodge in time.

A sharp awl had appeared in the dwarf's hand at some point in time. Judging from the flickering silver light, it was undoubtedly plated with silver.

The silver awl was dripping blood. It slipped through Lily's skin, making her already severely injured left hand even more injured.

"I told you that you would pay the price for this." Lily's face darkened. She was furious. "You will be made into a marionette by me and hung on the top of the tower in Silver Moon Plaza to

be dried."

The dwarf laughed even more arrogantly after hearing the threat. He looked at Lily's beautiful face and said, "Of course, you can say that. I'm always more tolerant of beautiful toys."
