Chapter 672: Charging Up
?
Yarin's POV:
His companion said lightly, "Stop talking. You just got punched in the chest. Don't scream
like a little girl. We were just unlucky. Encountering so many animals and going back and forth had drained the backup battery."
"If you have the strength, come and pull him. Don't just stand there and talk," the injured criminal complained loudly.
However, his companion disregarded it and said sarcastically, "Just now, you were scolding the people guarding the hostages as cowards and trash. Now, you're envious of their work?" "Are you f*cking picking on me?"
"You're too irritable. Have you been looking out the window for too long? You are already mentally affected, so you should switch places with the guards. Now, we have to charge our batteries quickly. If we can't leave after the higher-ups give us orders, we'll be beaten up when we return."
Seeing that the two of them had already reached the door of the stairwell, I gave the soldiers a look. They immediately understood. They quietly approached the unknown criminals and immediately took them down when they entered the stairwell!
The injured criminal lost his life on the spot, and his companion was more agile than his injured companion. The sharp claws only made a deep cut on the side of his neck, and he narrowly avoided the main artery.
Realizing that he was being attacked, he subconsciously pulled out his gun to fight back and opened his mouth to shout,
However, I had already quietly climbed onto his back. Seeing this, I immediately rushed into his mouth to block the shout that was about to come from his throat.
He obviously didn't expect a 'monster' like me to exist. He immediately pulled me out of his mouth in a panic, not even caring about the gun. The warrior's sharp claws were already right before him at that moment!
A second later, the second corpse fell to the ground with its eyes wide open.
A wilted lily of the valley fell from his pocket.
The warrior was about to pick it up when I suddenly felt something was wrong and immediately stopped him.
He looked at me in confusion. I explained, "Did they just say that the key is out of battery? What did this 'out battery' mean? This key has lost its ability to open the door."
I thought of those stones that used human lives as a sacrifice and these lilies of the valley - did they also need to use life to 'recharge'?
Looking at the lifeless hostage on the ground, I felt this possibility was very high.
"Don't touch it yet. Be careful of accidents."
I climbed onto the dead criminal and searched his pockets for anything else. If this flower would have robbed him of his life force, there must be something that could protect him from harm if he dared to put it in his pocket so casually.
Sure enough, I found a handkerchief in his pocket. There was a smear of blood on the handkerchief. It was bright red as if it had just dripped on it. I covered the lily of the valley with a handkerchief and said, "You should be able to pick it up now."
A soldier cautiously approached the flower covered with the handkerchief. His teammates were ready to fight, holding their daggers tightly, ready to help their companions break their wrists at any time.
Fortunately, the warrior successfully picked up the flower without any problem.
This good news excited everyone, including those in the folded space. Finally, we could reverse the disadvantageous situation!
But there were still problems. The key was 'out of battery'. How should we 'charge' it? Did we get back to square one?
However, unlike before, we now had another option.
Their companions had only returned for a short time. The criminals hiding in the office and resting were anxious, so they sent people to look for them.
He walked to the stairwell and naturally saw the dead body. He immediately realized that something was wrong. He pulled out his gun and retreated while vigilantly observing his surroundings.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that half of the lily of the valley had fallen out of the pocket of his companion's corpse. Without thinking, he reached out to pick up this indispensable and important item.
He took no protective measures because the flower showing its scattered leaves, was still half-wrapped in a blood-stained handkerchief.
My rough fingers caught the flower branch wrapped around the handkerchief without any defense. At that moment, disguised as a handkerchief, I suddenly seeped into the corpse's clothes like water, so the criminal wiped the flower branch with his bare hands without any defense.
By the time he wanted to stop, it was too late. The flower branch was firmly attached to his hand, greedily absorbing his life force.
The man gritted his teeth and wanted to cut off his hands, but the warriors hiding in the dark would not give him a chance. They immediately tied him up with ropes, making it impossible for him to move his hands.
Just like that, this person became the 'battery' of the key. Fear and regret became his last impression of this world.
That was right. Our third option was the Lily of the Valley.
Since they were the ones who made the key, it wasn't unreasonable for them to make their own batteries, right?
After carefully wrapping the lily of the valley with a handkerchief and putting it away, the soldiers hid the corpses in a hidden corner and looked at me, waiting for my next order.
We'd had enough of fighting in fear. Now, it was time to counterattack.
