Yarin's POV:
Upon hearing this, I extended my tentacle back. Unlike the delicate flowers that Karter had put down in the surveillance camera, this lily of the valley was almost withered. The yellowish- brown spots were all over the pale petals and thin stems as if it had been randomly picked up from the fallen flowers.
The unlucky fellow's words made his leader frown. He observed for a few seconds and then said, "No matter what he says, everyone will pretend that nothing happened today. We don't know what's in the box at all, understand? Don't let me catch any of you running your mouths!"
He closed the lid, and I didn't have time to remove the feelers. A portion of it was broken by the lid and thrown into the box. The box was tightly sealed, almost like cement. I pushed myself to the limit but couldn't find a gap to put my tentacles in. I could only give up for the time being and quietly leave.
On the other side, my main body had just obtained the last piece of candy. I was caught in a dilemma and seemed to have entered a dead end.
However, the goddess blessed me and allowed me to find something that seemed to be the 'key'. After my main body found out, I immediately informed my companions of this news.
In the folded space.
There was always a way out. Just when we thought we had reached a dead end, a turning point appeared.
Aunt Eve and Aunt Dorothy didn't seem surprised that I secretly asked my clone to collect information. I was a little nervous initially, but they didn't seem to care about it and immediately analyzed the current situation.
"Logically speaking, a lock can indeed be matched with many keys. For example, thirteen shawls can enter Mullvica's house. That dried flower is very likely the real key. As long as we get it, we can instantly turn the situation around," Aunt Dorothy said. "It seems about every team in the Lily of the Valley has such a key.
"Rather than attacking a team waiting for fatigue, we could attack a team that has experienced battle. The latter has casualties and is exhausted. It is easy for them to be disrupted by a sneak attack, and the chance of successfully obtaining the key was very high."
"Yes, but there's a problem. How do we know who has the key?"
"You'll know once you capture and search them," Aunt Eve sneered.
She immediately tried to contact the warriors in the other dimension, and two teams successfully received the signal.
Then she looked at me and said seriously, "Previously, I advised you to hide your clone because I was afraid that you would suffer irreversible damage. However, you still insist on collecting information. In that case, I must ask you as a commander."
With her gaze, I subconsciously stood up and became serious.
"Your role is very important. Your other part is flexible and inconspicuous, making it an excellent observer. A smaller part of you is left in the box with the key. If the plan to snatch the keys of the other Lily of the Valley parties fails, then you in the box will become our last resort.
"You must become our eyes in the other dimension, communicate with both sides and help the plan proceed smoothly. This is very dangerous and important, so I must confirm with you first. Are you confident in completing this mission?"
"Yes, ma'am," I replied seriously. "I'm confident of completing the mission."
"From now on, you will be the temporary liaison officer of these two teams. You will be responsible for conveying my orders to them and reporting their situation to me. In addition, once you find something that looks like a key, you must report it immediately. You must not be negligent, understand?"
"Yes, ma'am!"
Just like that, the plan to obtain the key began.
The two teams soon met up with my other part. They didn't ask anything and silently followed Aunt Eve's orders.
First, they had to find a team from the Lily of the Valley they could attack. A warrior immediately said, "Ten minutes ago, we defeated a wave of enemies and arrived here. If every team has their own fixed base, then that team is likely to still be on this floor."
This was the second floor, with a dense office area and more than ten small and medium- sized offices. Now that the open office area was in a mess and there was no one around, it was very likely that the team was hiding in an office to recuperate.
There were about ten people on the team. In terms of numbers, we were at a disadvantage. It was not a good idea to break in directly. We had to think of a way to sneak an attack.
We hid in the public office area and discussed the next step with Aunt Eve. Just then, the door of an office was suddenly opened.
A few criminals in tattered clothes walked out. One of them even dragged one of the hostage's feet and cursed, "Damn it, we're the ones doing all the hard work! Couldn't they just give us some of the hostages? Why did he have to go upstairs with the key to charge it? Son of a b*tch, my ribs are still hurting."
After saying that, he stopped and changed his hand. He kicked the hostage, but the latter did not react.
