Chapter 909: The Superior Kills the Boundless Immortals

Chapter 909: The Superior Kills the Boundless Immortals

Within the wild wastes hidden realm, Yu'er sat atop a high platform, surrounded by countless golden runes and characters. Numerous formations had been activated and were now swirling around her in a grand spectacle.

A strong wind howled.

Everyone nearby, including Xiao Nanfeng, stood watching as Blue Lantern performed a ritual.

"Wind!" Blue Lantern invoked.

Countless golden runes and characters fused together into a blue-colored rune for wind, ?, that surged toward Yu'er.

With a boom, a brilliant purple light erupted from Yu'er's body. The next moment, a massive rune for mountain, ?, emerged from within her.

The ? rune seemed to radiate boundless power, blocking the assault of the ? rune.

"Shi Tianbei's curse is truly cunning. It's anchored to the Yuqing yin pillar and draws power from it to sustain this ? rune," Blue Jade said angrily.

"Will it be difficult to dispel?" Xiao Nanfeng asked.

"Now that Senior Brother has attuned to the bronze compass, he should be able to handle it," Blue Jade replied, though with a frown.

From a distance, Blue Lantern raised his hand to reveal a bronze compass. With a flick of his wrist, the compass flew toward the ? rune.

"Rune Transformation!" Blue Lantern shouted.

The bronze compass hummed and transformed into a gigantic ? rune. A group of smaller ? runes gathered around it as the gigantic ? rune led an assault on the ? rune.

Like two armies colliding, the two types of runes smashed into each other, unleashing shockwaves that tore through the surroundings.

"Xia Yu'er, protect yourself!" Blue Lantern shouted.

Yu'er quickly activated a secret technique to cloak herself in layers of purple light. The ? rune drew power from her Yuqing yin pillar; she could do the same. Though she couldn't dispel the curse herself, self-protection was easy enough.

As the two forces battled, massive spatial waves erupted and turned nearby peaks into rubble.

"What a powerful curse," Xiao Nanfeng marveled.

"Break!" Blue Lantern roared.

With a boom, the two types of runes collided once again, releasing an explosion of flames that surged in all directions.

Xiao Nanfeng frowned, worried about Yu'er's safety.

From within the flames, the bronze compass emerged unscathed and returned to Blue Lantern's hand.

"Your Majesty, I've succeeded!" Blue Lantern exclaimed.

Xiao Nanfeng wasted no time celebrating. He rushed into the heart of the flames and toward Yu'er.

By then, Yu'er had opened her eyes. She felt a newfound sense of relief, as if some unknown weight had been lifted from her body. Blue Lantern's ritual, combined with her own secret techniques, had shielded her from the brunt of the explosion.

"How do you feel, Yu'er?" Xiao Nanfeng asked worriedly.

Yu'er looked at him, cautiously reached out to touch his hand, and found that the purple lightning that repelled the touch of others had vanished completely.

"Nanfeng, I'm cured!" Yu'er exclaimed in joy.

She threw herself toward Xiao Nanfeng, wrapping her arms around his neck in a tight embrace, overflowing with happiness.

Feeling her warmth, Xiao Nanfeng smiled and held her tightly in return. Only now did he feel at ease.

"As long as you're alright," Xiao Nanfeng said with a smile.

"Ah, hold on, hold on! Blue Jade and the others are watching!" Yu'er suddenly exclaimed. She blushed and quickly let go of him.

Xiao Nanfeng reluctantly released her. He leaned in and whispered, "When no one's around, we'll hug some more."

Yu'er's face turned crimson, but her joy was unmistakable. "Sure!"

Hand in hand, they turned and watched the flames and turbulence around them dissipate.

When everything calmed down, Xiao Nanfeng led Yu'er over to Blue Lantern.

"Thank you," Yu'er said, bowing in gratitude.

"There's no need to thank me. You went to great lengths to help me obtain the bronze compass. This was the least I could do," Blue Lantern replied with a smile.

"Blue Lantern, how's the cleanup going in the wild wastes hidden realm? Are we ready to leave?"

"We're ready, but the seven faction heads are still outside guarding the exit. How will we leave?" Blue Lantern asked anxiously.

"Don't worry. I've handled it already."

Blue Lantern was taken aback. The seven faction heads had hidden their identities, but they were all renowned figures. Emperor Dachi and Shi Tianbei alone were testament to their strength. How had Xiao Nanfeng handled them all?

"Understood. I'll gather everyone immediately," Blue Lantern replied, nodding.

He refrained from asking further questions; the truth would reveal itself once they left.

After making final preparations and securing the hidden realm, Blue Lantern gathered all the disciples from the Fenghuang faction and brought them to the exit of the hidden realm.

He also moved the pure yang pillar there.

"Your Majesty, I'll have to ask you to enter my life compass again," Blue Lantern said.

"Very well." Xiao Nanfeng nodded.

Blue Lantern activated his life compass, allowing everyone to enter it, before retrieving the pure yang pillar.

The sky darkened as clouds gathered. A terrifying force seemed to bear down on Blue Lantern.

Blue Lantern quickly used a secret technique to transform himself into a talisman and merge with the exit's enchantment. With a hum, he emerged from the wild wastes hidden realm.

On the other side, he quickly released everyone from his compass.

As expected, the black-robed cultivators who had been guarding the exit were now nowhere to be seen. Instead, they were greeted by Xiao Nanfeng's officials and subordinates.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!" the officials said in unison.

Blue Lantern's expression suddenly shifted. "Your Majesty, I sense something amiss."

"I'm aware," Xiao Nanfeng said coldly. "Though I persuaded most of them to leave, some must still think me an easy target."

Just then, four black-robed figures appeared in the distance and flew toward them. Their overwhelming aura revealed their identities—they were all Boundless Immortals.

"Blue Lantern, you won't be leaving today!" the four black-robed cultivators shouted.

"They're all Boundless Immortals?" Yu'er's face darkened.

Xiao Nanfeng's expression grew cold. He stepped forward. With a hum, his True Yin form activated. His spiritual moon appeared above him, radiating with intense white light.

"You dare go back on your word?" Xiao Nanfeng demanded icily.

"Xiao Nanfeng, you're just a True Yin cultivator. Do you really think you can stop us? Dream on!"

"Do you think we'd really leave?"

"Without the Divine Emperor and Liu Miaoyin here, what can you do against us?"

The four Boundless Immortals sneered, their killing intent surging as they charged forward.

Suddenly, Xiao Nanfeng's spiritual moon shone with blinding white light.

The light illuminated the entire area. It was so bright that everyone reflexively closed their eyes—Yu'er, Blue Lantern, Blue Jade, and even the hidden observers on the islands nearby.

By the time the light faded, the four Boundless Immortals had vanished.

In the distance, the observers stared at the scene in shock.

"What just happened?"

"Where did those four Boundless Immortals go? How did they vanish out of nowhere?"

"This can't be! What did Xiao Nanfeng do?!"

Panic spread as the spies tried to figure out just what had happened. There were no powerful figures in the vicinity; neither Liu Miaoyin nor the Divine Emperor had appeared. How had the four Boundless Immortals vanished?

No one noticed that Xiao Nanfeng's spiritual moon had likewise vanished. They assumed that Xiao Nanfeng had simply retracted it.

On one island, a group of black-robed figures surrounded a man.

"What happened to your main body? Is it dead?" someone asked.

"No, it's trapped in a snowy realm with the Boundless Immortals from three other factions. Xiao Nanfeng transported us there."

"A snowy realm? Xiao Nanfeng must have outmaneuvered you—but it means that he doesn't have the strength to kill you just yet."

"No—something's wrong. A blizzard suddenly spawned out of nowhere. We've been separated from one another. I feel a burst of cursed spiritual power. There's a cursed effigy around!"

"A cursed effigy?"

"Someone's shouting out—he's dead! He's been killed by the cursed effigy!"

"What?!"

"I can hear it chewing. It's horrifying. I'm sure everyone must have flown over, but we can't catch sight of the cursed effigy, or even of each other. Ah, another scream—someone else must have perished!"

"Just what cursed effigy is it?"

"No, I don't want to die, I don't want to die! The cursed effigy—it's a huge mouth! Don't eat me, don't!" the man yelled.

"What's wrong?" the other cultivators asked urgently.

"My main body's dead. It was devoured alive. The cursed effigy killed me instantly..." the man said, shivering in fear.

Similar reports emerged on several other islands, leaving the black-robed figures in dread.

"Xiao Nanfeng has other allies? A Boundless Immortal cursed effigy?"

"Xiao Nanfeng warned us about mutual destruction. It looks like he wasn't bluffing..."

"What a frightening cursed effigy!"

Spooked, none of the black-robed cultivators dared to approach Xiao Nanfeng again.

Meanwhile, Blue Lantern, Blue Jade, and the others glanced at Xiao Nanfeng in shock. They all thought that he was the one who had annihilated the four Boundless Immortals.

Even if they had only been early-stage Boundless Immortals, what Xiao Nanfeng had done was ridiculous. How could he have the power to instantly annihilate four Boundless Immortals?

Xiao Nanfeng didn't explain. Rather, he focused on his mindscape, where he heard the Superior's voice .

"I've killed the four early-stage Boundless Immortals for you. You owe me a favor," the Superior said.

"I understand," Xiao Nanfeng replied.

His relationship with the Superior was interesting. Though they were allies, he didn't fully trust the Superior, and the Superior wasn't willing to act for nothing. The Superior's assistance in the past had been predicated on Xiao Nanfeng's ability to acquire resources for him.

"Nanfeng, the black-robed cultivators in the vicinity must be dumbstruck by what you did," Yu'er said with a smile.

Though she didn't know how Xiao Nanfeng had managed such a feat, she didn't ask. There would be plenty of opportunities to do so later in private conversation.

"Come on. Let's go!" Xiao Nanfeng shouted, tugging on Yu'er's hand.

"Got it!" Yu'er nodded.

"Understood!" everyone chorused.

Xiao Nanfeng and the others flew toward Yongding. At this point, no one else dared to stop them.
