Chapter 122 : Domain expansion
Chapter 122 : Domain expansion
The weight of the impact was astonishing, as if a mountain collapsed onto my shoulders. A sensation of vertigo engulfed me, as if I were being dragged into a bottomless abyss. The bones of my legs and arms began to crack and break under tremendous pressure, sending waves of sharp pain throughout my body.
Amidst my distress, trunks surged from the ground with force, striking the titan's body and relieving the crushing weight that oppressed me. Seizing this crucial opportunity, I managed to free myself from a difficult situation, crawling towards relative safety.
Meanwhile, from above, Lysandra deployed her magic with mastery. A great sword materialized in her hands, its bright glow illuminating the battlefield. Her eyes radiated determination as she performed a dizzying vertical attack. A multitude of branches entwined around her, joining forces with nature itself to protect her and strengthen her offense.
The surrounding plants and trees stirred slightly, as if responding to her call, covering her body with makeshift armor. Small flames danced in her hands, a spectacle of power and beauty that illuminated the darkness around us with a fiery red glow.
The sword in Lysandra's hands radiated impressive energy, with red flames dancing from the base of the blade to the surrounding branches.
Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed through the air, shaking everything in its path. The titan let out a piercing cry that pierced the battle's silence, its huge body convulsing under the impact of the attack. In an instant, it moved with astonishing speed, disappearing from its original position in an ominous flash.
Lysandra rushed towards me with hurried steps, her voice resonating with a tone of palpable concern. "Are you okay?" she inquired urgently, her eyes scanning every corner of my being with impressive speed, searching for any hint of damage or injury I might have suffered.
With a weary smile, I nodded in response to her question. "I'm okay," I assured her, though my voice could barely overcome the battle's roar that surrounded us. The titanic figure emerged once again in the distance, its back marked by a deep cut from which a torrent of dark blood flowed.
It assumed a quadrupedal posture, its corporeal mass beginning to expand as the darkness around it grew and spread, engulfing everything in its path.
"Domain Expansion," proclaimed the titan solemnly, and in a blink, the void was devoured by darkness. Blackness encompassed every corner of space, plunging the surroundings into a sepulchral silence. Murmurs, laments, and tormented voices resounded everywhere, creating a symphony of despair that enveloped all present.
"Domain Expansion!" echoed the cry in my mind, momentarily leaving it blank. Domain Expansion was much more than a simple skill; it was a manifestation of the soul itself. Usually, only those in deep harmony with their essence could achieve this feat. Achieving such synchronization with the soul was a monumental achievement, one reserved for those in the highest platinum rank.
Tuning into the soul required absolute mastery over one's own being. Mana, that magical energy flowing through every being, had to synchronize perfectly with the soul, merging into a single entity. It was total control of magical affinity, merging it with the very essence of the individual.
From this fusion arose a projection of the soul into the physical world, where the aura or mana extended beyond the physical body, carrying with it the essence of the being.
Domain Expansion was a skill of incomparable power. Once the bearer immersed themselves in their own domain, their strength instantly doubled, granting them an overwhelming advantage over their opponents. But that wasn't all; their mana reserves also experienced a noticeable increase, providing them with even more formidable power.
However, escaping someone else's domain was a monumental task. It became a battle of wills, where souls fought for supremacy. To escape the control of another's domain, one had to deploy their own Domain Expansion, thus challenging the opponent's soul in a direct confrontation.
At the precise moment we found ourselves in, this situation posed serious problems. The darkness surrounding the titan was not only physical but also spiritual. We were immersed in a confrontation where our souls were threatened, and the battle for domain control hung by a precarious thread.
The colossal body of the titan vanished before my eyes, leaving behind an ominous void. A fleeting glance towards the dome where Elsa was sheltered made me tremble. My thoughts raced in my mind, running at a frantic pace. Where could the flowers be? I couldn't find any trace of them in this place. An idea dawned on me: Could they be where the titan emerged running from?
With my heart pounding, I slowly backed up until I was near the dome where Elsa was sheltered. "Elsa, can you hear me?" I murmured in a barely audible tone, aware of the delicate situation we were in. "Yes, I can hear you," her voice responded with a slight tremor of anxiety.
"Alright, pay attention," I continued with determination. "We're going to distract the titan. As soon as we create a small opening, you'll slip away. I have a feeling the flowers we're looking for might be in the direction from which the titan emerged." My words were spoken cautiously, aware of the urgency of the moment.
Meanwhile, the darkness surrounding us seemed to come alive, twisting and moving in all directions. My sense of danger sharpened suddenly as the titan's body manifested once again, this time wreathed in black flames. "Watch out!" I shouted desperately, but my warning came too late.
With a deafening roar, Lysandra's sword blade shattered as she tried to defend against the titan's attack. The metallic sound resonated in the air, followed by an explosion that sent Lysandra flying through the air like a meteorite. Without a second thought, I executed a quick foot movement, disappearing from my original position to intercept her fall.
I extended my arms just in time to receive her injured body in my arms, blood spilling from her mouth. With trembling hands, I carefully wiped the corners of her lips, adopting a mid-range position to initiate the healing process, while concentrating my mana to assist her in her recovery.
Lysandra stood up with an ironic smile on her fatigued face. "It's formidable. He has managed to hide perfectly within his domain. I guess we have no other choice," she commented with palpable determination in her voice. The color of her hair, as red as blood, seemed to come to life, rising in the air as the branches of the ground began to emerge around her.
In an instant, a tree rose majestically behind her amidst the reigning darkness, its leaves dyed in an intense red like passion itself.
Lysandra's hands were filled with flames, radiating a heat that defied the cold darkness surrounding us. "Domain Expansion!" she exclaimed solemnly, and in a blink, space was enveloped by the power of her soul.
