Chapter 108 I'm Your Girlfriend?

Chapter 108 I'm Your Girlfriend?

"Yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!" Gino Gambino yelled in pleasure. Mira and I had disgusted looks on our faces as we walked into the room. "Suck my toes, bitch!"

Gino Gambino was sitting in a lounge chair while a woman sucked on his toes. He was surrounded by armed guards that looked a lot more impressive and intimidating that any of the guys we had seen before.

Gino opened his eyes and noticed us. "Hey! How did you get in here?"

"We got in the elevator and hit the number 10 button. It wasn't that complicated," I said.

"No, I mean how did you get past my guards?" He said.

"We asked nicely. What do you think we did? We took them out," I said.

"Right. Well you won't get past these guys!" He indicated the guards around him.

"You know we don't have to do that. We can just talk!" I said.

"Where's the fun in that?" He said.

"You think this is fun?" I said, getting irritated. "All I'm trying to do is get you to leave my girlfriend alone and you're trying to have fun while attempting to kill us? What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"Many things," he said. "You guys are together now? Congrats! I'll leave you alone then."

"Really?" I said.

"NO! Of course not! Why would I do that? I'm trying to rule this city! And she's the key to taking it from the Calabrese's. When I kill her, her father will have a heart attack and the Calabrese Family will scatter to the wind, allowing me to sweep in and take their territories," he said.

"I'm not sure it'll be that easy, but I'm still going to stop you regardless!" I said. Mira tapped me on the shoulder. "What?"

"I'm your girlfriend?" She said with a hopeful expression on her face and her hands clasped together.

"Only if you want to be, but there is something we need to discuss first. I want you to know everything before you officially enter into a relationship with me," I said.

"Ok," she said. She jumped up to kiss me, but I didn't kiss her because I was trying to keep an eye on the guards. Read exclusive chapters at empire

"Kiss me, damn it!" She said.

"Ok, ok!" I kissed her.

"What are you waiting for?" Gino said to the guards. "Get them!"

The guards on the left pulled out guns and the guards on the right pulled out swords.

I looked at Mira. "Same as the ground floor?" I said.

She nodded.

"Let's go full lethal this time. I think these guys really mean business," I said.

"Ok!" She said. She became a blur once more and disappeared. She reappeared with her hand plunging into a guards chest and ripping out his heart.

I expanded my domain once more. A golden mouth appeared next to me and said, "Their wills are too strong. Breaking them with words won't work."

"Ok," I said. "I guess I'll have to do this the old fashioned way." I pulled out my sword and fired up my Blood Saw. That was the technique where I ran blood along the blade of my sword at high speeds, creating a sawing effect.

The guards with the swords disappeared and reappeared with their swords stabbing into my midsection. They were too fast for even my enhanced senses to see them move.

They had plunged their swords all the way through my body. I was stuck in place, unable to move. I tried to get them with a spike burst. Blood burst out of holes in my body and formed spikes that rapidly expanded outwards, attempting to stab my assailants.

They were too fast even for this. They saw what I was doing and disappeared. They reappeared twenty feet away from me holding their swords. I may not have killed or injured them, but at least I got them to remove their swords.

My wounds healed fairly quickly regardless of how lethal they were. I couldn't let them stab my heart though, because that would send me to the ground and leave me vulnerable to dismemberment.

I considered manifesting Midas, but he didn't have the same speed as Mira or even me. Instead, I decided to use an ability I hadn't used in ages. Daze.

[Daze ability activated]

There was an immediate change in my opponents. They started to move slow enough for me to barely perceive their movements. They were still a blur in my vision, but at least they didn't straight up disappear every time they moved.

This time I could block half the sword strikes coming at me. Most importantly I could block all the strikes that went for my heart or my head. Aside from that, I got stabbed and cut countless times.

I needed to find a way to not only slow down my opponents, but to speed myself up. I was superhumanly fast, but I wasn't as fast as them. Not by a long shot. Their cybernetics put them at a level of speed I had never thought possible.

I was going to need to take my cultivation to the next level and I needed to do it now. I didn't have time to spend 8 hours on it like I had with my master, Elder Ravenkin.

I knew one technique I could use to speed myself up, but it had a time limit on its use. Technically I was using it all the time, but for me to reach even higher speeds, I would need to push it to the limit.

The technique was the Vi Surge. We went over it when I first learned it but I haven't discussed it since then, simply because it seemed like a waste of time to do so.

The technique was circulating Vi through my Nexus Network at high speeds to enhance my body. It increased my speed, strength, and reaction times, as well as my healing factor. The only real downside to it, is it was a difficult technique to learn and maintain constantly.

However, being a naturally talented "genius" cultivator, as Elder Ravenkin put it, I was able to learn it and maintain it in a matter of hours. It was a volatile technique that required constant background mental maintenance.

Due to its drain on my mental resources, I could only maintain it at a certain level constantly. But, I could increase the speed of circulation by putting in more effort for a short period of time.

I wouldn't be able to maintain it long term, but I hoped it would get me over the hump to match and surpass my opponents' speed. While continuing to block every attack aimed at my chest, I focused on increasing my Vi circulation.

After 30 seconds, I had increased it by 2. Then a minute later, I had increased it by 3. I hit a wall then. That was apparently my limit, at least for now. I would have to practice it more to see if I could increase it further, but as of now, this would have to suffice.

I mentally prepared myself for a counterattack. With the increased speed and mental awareness from the 3 times enhanced Vi circulation, I was able to keep up with their attacks and block every single one of them at this point. I counted down in preparation for my counterattack.
