Chapter 2920 Quick Challenge
The four inheritance finalists exchanged glances—three of them instinctively retreating a few steps away from Minos. He remained still, his relaxed smile aimed at his opponents, though his thoughts lingered on Devdar and those enigmatic words about the Upper Realm.
As he mentally reviewed the rules for this round, Minos realized something his competitors likely hadn't yet grasped about this last contest. Yet he kept his insight to himself, intrigued by how his opponents had grown stronger after all those years.
"My friends, we've come a long way," he announced confidently. "I'll give you full rein to unleash everything you've built until now—before we conclude this last dance." With that, he retracted his aura inwardly, granting the three a chance to act freely.
The trio couldn't help but feel both irritated and resigned by Minos' confident stance; his favoritism was undeniable. None of them were confident they could best him, which made granting them this window of opportunity their only chance to prove how far they had come.
Each of them, much like Minos himself, had been brought to this dimension by Devdar. They had scarcely enjoyed more than a few dozen seconds at their progression sites for the 13th stage before losing control and slipping into a state of dormancy, waiting out the last of their trials.
Soli offered a bitter smile before channeling all her emotions into her power, aiming it directly at Minos with a determined glint in her eyes—a silent challenge to at least gain his acknowledgment of her strength.
"Minos, we don't have to fight to the death," one of the three declared suddenly, as if speaking the unspoken thoughts of them all. "If you withstand our attacks, we'll surrender."
The words of this third competitor caught no one by surprise—the other two had already harbored similar sentiments and promptly embraced their companion's position.
'Really, there's no need for an all-out battle,' Soli sighed in agreement.
None of them harbored deep grudges, nor did any of them feel confident enough in victory to provoke an intense, deadly confrontation.
As she considered their position, the surrounding space blossomed with dozens of circling red flowers—a visual manifestation of her cultivated power.
Meanwhile, the other two competitors unleashed their powers on the underwater realm itself. One of them intricately wove dark purple runes into the surroundings, while the other conjured several powerful vortices that set the water swirling with alarming speed.
The remaining men voiced his agreement with their earlier proposition, "I concur. Minos, withstand the strongest attacks from all of us! That will suffice for us—and I'm sure for the Senior as well."
Devdar sat silently on a throne reminiscent of the one in dispute, close to the vacant position in the Upper Realm that was to be filled later that day. His calm presence clarified that he would not interfere in the challenge his competitors had just initiated.
Minos need not glance at Devdar to understand that the elder would remain hands off with this contest. Instead, he turned his attention back to Soli for one ultimate confirmation.
"Do you agree with that, Soli?" he asked.
Soli shook her head affirmatively. "I see no other way for us to stand a chance. Individually, we would lose, and that would secure your victory," she said in a serious tone, unhesitant to point out that this approach was as much to their benefit as it was to his. "If you're willing to accept that, then I agree."
For a fleeting moment, the other two feared that Minos might refuse and opt to attack them. But as he took his place at the center of their formation, he moved subtly—raising his arms into a defensive posture that signaled his readiness.
"All right then, let's bet," he declared loudly, sending a shiver through his three opponents. "Give it everything you've got simultaneously. As long as I'm still standing when you've worn yourselves out, I will be the winner of this contest."
At that, Devdar spoke up, "Do you all agree with this?"
In unison, the three competitors responded, "Yes."
Devdar then turned his gaze back to Minos and signaled that the contest could proceed under these terms. "Very well. Good luck to you all. This may be the most unconventional way to settle it, but so be it."
The competitors understood what Devdar's words implied. They realized it would be far more beneficial to absorb the dense surrounding laws—infusing themselves with the essence of this dimension—to bolster their power. Yet, each of them also knew that amassing strength only to have their fate ultimately decided by Minos wouldn't serve them well.
It was preferable to settle everything at once!
Once Minos showed that the stage was set for the contest, the three newly promoted Celestials—still one step shy of True Celestial status—mobilized their forces.
Soli deftly commanded her swirling red flowers, making them dance around Minos and causing the very fabric of the dimension to tremble beneath the rapid whirl of her power.
Simultaneously, one of the other alien men generated several violent vortices that distorted the surrounding space. The area around Minos transformed into a chaotic whirlwind, akin to the influence field of a relentless shredder.
Minos could feel the two destructive forces—each of a different origin—converging on him rapidly. Their sheer intensity pressed against his thick dragon skin, producing sensations that edged dangerously close to pain.
Not to be outdone, the third opponent invoked an intricate display of dark purple runes. These runes summoned a colossal underwater creature, its body adorned with mesmerizing blue-golden scales that dramatically increased the ambient pressure around it.
As Minos locked eyes with the creature's magical projection, he couldn't help but recall the legendary Sky Whales of the Spiritual World—a race that vanished during the War of Worlds. Even without a direct assault from that formidable ability, Minos recognized just how potent it could be.
A thrill coursed through him—'This will be a worthy challenge indeed,' he thought.
True to his commitment, Minos honored his agreement by preparing to withstand their coordinated attack. However, he never intended to underestimate the combined prowess of three level 125 geniuses who had made it to the final stage of Devdar's inheritance.
In response, he shifted into the dragon form that had defined his most recent journey, his scales shimmering as his seraphim wings unfurled to their fullest extent for protection.
He was not intent on launching a counterattack. Rather, he was determined not to face these combined forces. Even he wouldn't dare treat the orchestrated power of his three opponents lightly!
The three opponents unleashed their powers in unison, intensifying their attacks against Minos until the very fabric of the underwater dimension crumbled. The destructive force they generated was so immense that even Devdar couldn't help but congratulate them on reaching such unprecedented levels.
Forced to intervene, Devdar shifted his position to prevent a total collapse. The stakes were astronomical; if uncontrolled, this storm could obliterate hundreds of worlds and stars across the universe before anyone had the chance to contain it.
Amid the chaos, the three aliens broke out into cold sweats while watching Minos withstand their coordinated barrage. Each competitor sensed the dual threat posed by their combined might and the formidable resilience of their target.
Minos remained a passive recipient of their onslaught. Nonetheless, the price was evident: several feathers fell from his wings, and his thick dragon scales fractured under the relentless pressure—leaving deep cuts across his massive body.
The devastating fin strike from the summoned whale attacked him for the fifth time, its force so severe that it sent shockwaves of pain through him, as bones shattered and his strength rapidly ebbed away.
This was no ordinary ordeal. Absorbing the ferocity of three opponents nearly as talented and powerful as himself was an extraordinary challenge. Unlike deflecting or counterattacking, enduring such concerted assaults left him vulnerable—a sensation akin to the weight of an entire world pinning him down.
He tasted his own blood, a bitter reminder of the price of his resistance.
Yet even as it felt as though the heavens were collapsing upon him—attacking both his physical and spiritual essence—Minos did not falter!
Though the three adversaries had grown immensely strong, they still remained below the might of Devdar and Qhava.
When his attackers had reached the very limits of their endurance, Minos slowly opened his enormous golden dragon eyes. In that single moment, he sent a simple message to everyone in the dimension: it was over.
"That was one fine contest—an inheritance well-earned, my friends," he declared in a tone so filled with satisfaction and triumph that even Devdar was momentarily overwhelmed by his heir's fervor. "You fought valiantly, but only one of us can prevail. And that one is me!"
At these words, the concentrated powers wielded by his three opponents shattered like glass under immense pressure, their hold on him dissolving in an instant. Two of them closed their eyes in silent resignation as they accepted their fate, while Soli cast one final, poignant look at Minos before her own destiny was sealed.
Liberated from the crushing grip of their combined power, Minos staggered upright from the ground. With a swift, decisive motion, his immense dragon claws sliced through space, targeting his now-defeated adversaries.
"Now…" he intoned, leaving the sentence hanging in the air as the ultimate act of the contest approached.
