Chapter 2708 Fear the Devil
BOOOOOOOOOOOM BOOO000000000M BOOOOOO0000000M!!!!!!!
"HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!" the maddened laughter of the Devil rang in the air.
It sent chills down the spines of those who were unfortunate enough to hear it. His very presence was menacing.
It sent chills across the skins of those who felt it.
And especially those who fought it.
The five Sages who fought him were beyond shocked at the astronomical amount of power that he displayed. Not even the peak Sage of the Nest of Terra, the Nestforger was able to fight him off despite being the strongest Sage of Terra.
"How strong... how strong can one Sage be?!" The Nestforger whispered with shock as the Devil fought off himself and four other Sages simultaneously. "This level of power... He's almost as strong as the Demon of Asmodeus!"
BOOOOO00000000000000MMMMMMMM!!!!!!!
His Martial Embodiment swallowed the world.
It was pure Destruction.
It held off five Sages at once, even going as far as putting them on the back foot. The Martial Sage had grown much stronger since the Great East Panamic War, thanks to the treasures of the Kandrian Empire, especially the manifold.
Thirty years had passed in the manifold since Rui had departed from the Kandrian Empire. In those thirty years, he had grown much, much stronger. Although Sages grew proportionally slower than Martial Artists of the Lower Realms, thirty years was a long time and was enough for him to step up his power significantly.
He had grown to become among the very strongest Sages of the Martial World, touching upon the absolute ceiling of Sages in the modern era.
He was regarded as one of the four Transcendent candidates of the entirety of the Martial World along with the Boundless Light of the Gen Temple of the South, the Demon of Asmodeus of the Gu in the West, and the Reverend of the Namgung Clan in the North.
He had risen above ordinary peak Sages.
The Nestforger gritted his teeth as he defended against the astronomically destructive power of the Devil.
Manipulating space and the Lorentz force, he sent a flood of vibrations across the entirety of the land beneath his feat.
Vibrations so small that they happened at the quantum scale.
There was a phenomenon known as liquefaction, where solid particles could behave like liquids when subjected to vibrations. The Nestforger took it to another level with tremendous vibrations on a very small scale.
He could make solid land behave like a gas.
Gas that adhered to his will.
"Nest of Damnation."
His cold voice reached the Devil as the very land beneath their feet melted and dissolved into a gas that converged upon Sage Damian.
And yet, it was to no avail.
BOO0000000000000MMMMMM!!!!!!
"HAHAHAAAAA!!!" his laugh was boisterous as he unleashed a wave of antimatter to destroy the incoming attack. "IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE, MAGGOT?"
The Nestforger gritted his teeth. "You monster...!"
"You haven't seen anything yet." Damian's grin was gruesome and malevolent. "Let me show you pieces of worthless garbage what a real peak Martial Sage looks like."
BOO00000000000000000OMMMMMM!!!!!
And thus, the Devil indulged himself with his latest victims.
However, he wasn't the main show.
He had been deployed in a joint operation with the Emperor of Harmony and the Martial Union to merely hold off the strongest assets of the Nest of Terra and keep them from intervening with the mission of the main attack force.
The main attack force was comprised of several Martial Sages.
Sage Maya, the Flickering Elder.
Matriarch Nephi, the Celestial Seer.
Sage Kole, the Master of the Inferno Fists.
Sage Sera, the Harbinger.
Sage Zentra, the Bodyshaper.
The latter two were the two youngest Sages of the Kandrian Empire and had yet to be deployed on a rather important mission. Thankfully, their presence had been balanced out by some of the most powerful Sages of the Kandrian Empire.
Including the newest peak Sage of the Kandrian Empire, Sage Sayfeel, the Emperor's Shadow.
Together, the Seven Sages assaulted the Nest of Terra,
Their goal was simple.
The death of the ringleaders and the people most responsible for the two attacks against the prince of the Kandrian Empire.
Consul Notera and Consul Sergenilius.
The Emperor of Harmony and the Sage Council had unanimously decided that these
two needed to die after what happened to their prince.
The world needed to understand that it could not simply set a Sage loose on their Dawnbringer, an asset so precious he was regarded as one of the national treasures of
the Kandrian Empire.
With four of the Martial Sages dealing with the beasts and monsters of the Beast Incursion, there were only eleven Sages to defend the Nest of Terra in total.
Five of whom were being stalled by the Devil himself.
The remaining six fought off the five Kandrian Sages in a devastating battle a good distance away from the Nest of Terra to ensure that the civilians of the nation didn't suffer. Even though the Panamic Martial Federation was simply unable to enforce its laws anymore, the Kandrian Empire had no desire to destroy the Sage-level
powerhouse.
Merely to execute the two leaders and set an example to the world of the consequences of picking a fight with the Kandrian Empire.
It was to reinforce the political protection that the Dawnbringer had and make it clear that the political protection was not merely in name.
BOOOOOM BOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOM!!!!!
The battles proceeded exactly how one would expect. With the strongest Sages of the Kandrian Empire, an extra Martial Sage was not enough to get rid of the five Sages who calmly kept them where they were without allowing them to return to the Nest of Terra to protect the two Consuls.
Meanwhile, Sage Sayfeel infiltrated the Nest of Terra, moving through it as though he
knew exactly where he was going.
And he did.
The Martial Masters quaked where they stood while he effortlessly weaved past them,
reaching his targets in the most protected place in the Nest of Terra.
The Terran Citadel.
This was where he would exact his vengeance.
