Chapter 2704 Fleshing Out
Rui's idea was certainly not easy.
But it was viable.
With the knowledge, power, and skill that he possessed at this stage in his Martial Path, he was more than equipped to at least attempt to create a Squire Evolution technique. However, there were some pretty major challenges.
The first was that the Squire Evolution procedure required precision, accuracy, and delicacy more than it required power. A single mistake and he would end up killing the subject in a horrifying outcome.
Another problem was that it required an extraordinary amount of healing potions.
After all, the way that the process worked was by subjecting the subject to circumstances that would cause mass cell death, causing the survival of the fittest. All the most genetically fit and superior cells of the body would survive, and thus, the new cells that it would reproduce would be stronger than the last generation.
And the process would be repeated again and again and again until the cells of the Body were so astronomically superior compared to how they started off that the subject could be considered to be an entirely new species compared to the baseline human being.
Each Squire was technically their own species. It was why Squires were infertile with human beings unless they chose not to evolve the most crucial parts of their reproductive system.
Thus, Squire parents could give birth to normal human children.
"More importantly, how am I going to replicate the role of healing potions in this new technique of mine?"
That was one of the biggest hurdles that he needed to overcome. Without healing potions, that subject would die on the spot from mass cell death. And while he did have healing potions, as did Amare, they not only didn't have enough, but they could afford to waste these precious resources to produce a measly Squire.
This was the problem with the Squire Evolution process. It was resource-intensive.
It was also the biggest hurdle for Apprentice-level nations to overcome.
Fortunately, this was not an impossible thing to overcome.
"I can induce a temporary Weaving Blood."
As long as he triggered cell reproduction and supplied prepared a ready supply of necessary nutrients for the healing, he would be able to ensure a steady rate of healing, albeit probably less so than if they consumed healing potions.
"Assuming I can do this, that should be enough to facilitate the creation of a Martial Body. But that's not the only thing this process needs."
He needed the right filtering process. The filtering process decided what cells would survive and what the healed Body would be capable of, thus. Choosing the right process was important, for it would decide which cells survive.
If one wanted to produce a Martial Body that was highly resistant to fire, for example, then subjecting the body to flames and then letting the cells that survived to reproduce was the best way to produce cells that could resist flames and survive fires.
The filtering processes determined the strength of the body. Thus, it needed to be customized to each Martial Apprentice and their strengths. The Kandrian Martial Union already had an enormous database of filtering processes that catered to all kinds of strengths and Martial Paths and Art.
"I don't have a database of such techniques at my disposal, unfortunately," he tutted. "Which means that I will have to come up with these techniques on the fly in order to suit my target."
Thus, he spent some time speaking with the Martial Apprentice, understanding what kind of Martial Path he had and what his Martial Art was like. "My Martial Path is Torque-Empowered Striking, Your Highness. I'm honored by your interest!" the high-grade Martial Apprentice informed Rui, bowing him to him deeply.
"Enough of that," Rui cajoled him with a hint of irritation. "Still, Toque-Empowered Striking. I'm guessing you specialize in sideway hooks and side kicks or any other maneuver that involves leveraging torque generated by your entire body."
"Yes, Your Highness!"
"Hmmm…"
It was hardly the most unique or special Martial Path, but it was just what Rui needed. More complicated or niche Martial Paths would require a more complicated or niche filtering process.
Thus, he observed the Martial Apprentice demonstrating his Martial Art as he fell into thought about what kind of traits the Martial Body of such a Martial Artist possesses. "Torque requires a flexible range of motion and powerful core muscles."
That was a good place to start.
The Martial Apprentice twisted his body with the muscles of his back and abdomen to generate immense power and torque.
"As for his parametric configuration, it seems better to go for a bulkier build with a higher body mass to muscular power ratio to prioritize power and defense."
Mass was needed if his Martial Path was about generating power, even if it came at the cost of speed.
"That serves as the basic template for his Martial Body," Rui murmured. "For now, I suppose that's good enough. It will be better than he can afford to get."
Now he just needed to chalk out a filtering process that would help him maximize creating a body with high muscle and body mass, allowing tremendous power and durability at the cost of speed.
"Simultaneously, I need to ensure that power does not come at the cost of mobility."
It was a well-known fact that too much muscle above a certain point would actually reduce striking power due to the excess muscle impeding mobility. Excessive muscles, with their high volume, would reduce the range of motion and would often be extremely stiff, resisting contraction and elongation.
"I will have to increase muscle mass through hypertrophy. Additionally, I will have a filtration process centered around pressure to create stronger cells and a filtration process centered around force as well."
For example, he could make it such that any cell that wasn't able to exert a certain amount of force would be unable to survive the incoming force that he would exert on the cells.
