Chapter 101: Reunion (4)
Chapter 101: Reunion (4)
"Yval…"
Amon called out the name of the woman who happened to be the last ’living’ Dragon in Hyades. The golden-haired woman broke a wry smile before spewing out:
"Wow, you’ve grown so much! This one almost didn’t recognise you!"
"It has been a while… Lord Yval."
Realising that the woman before him had the power to end his life if she so chose, Amon hurriedly added an honorific. Amon almost instantly felt a sense of dread and awe that he hadn’t felt in a long time. Even Alrock couldn’t make the former Transcendent feel inferior, but naturally… The Golden Dragon Progenitor was in a league of her own.
"Child of Solaris, you don’t have to be so formal. This one doesn’t care for such things."
The majestic blonde draconic woman waved her arm, and an invisible force straightened Amon’s bent waist. Amon paused for a moment before hurriedly saying:
"L-Lord… I mean, Yval… Are you okay with exposing your powers here? We are in the heart of the Solaris House!"
Yval, the last living Dragon, had been hiding her existence from the world primarily because of her duties as the Guardian of the Necropolis of the Gods. If others knew of Yval’s identity, it would send shockwaves worldwide and potentially risk the peace she sought to keep in the Necropolis.
But alas, Amon’s worries were unfounded.
"Do you think the Solaris House can detect this one? This one roamed the planet long before the Solaris House was conceived."
Yval puffed her chest out with complete confidence as she brushed aside Amon’s concerns. There wasn’t a living creature that could sense her if she hid her presence, including the high defences of the Solaris House. Even the best sensory magicians would be hard-pressed even to feel an inkling of her existence, let alone identify where she was.
"So, why have you summoned this one?"
"Sister Yval!"
Yue leapt straight from her feet and rushed to embrace the golden lady. The young beauty’s actions slightly amused Yval, and she willingly allowed herself to be embraced. The pair shared a moment before Yval broke the hug with a tease.
"You’ve grown more beautiful, young one! I heard that mating between humans brightens your complexion! The two of you must have been mating vigorously!"
"S-Sister Yval!!!"
The ancient Dragon’s words blushed Yue’s snowy white face. She covered her cheeks and snuck a few naughty glances down Amon’s path. However, Amon didn’t respond to any of those and simply looked straight ahead. However, if one observed ever so closely, they would see that his eyes trembled slightly at Yval’s teasing.
"Was this one wrong? Haven’t you been mating? This one even given you dragon’s mead to guarantee fertilisation…"
"A-AHHH, you must be wondering why we summoned you so suddenly!"
Yue silenced the Dragon from spewing unnecessary details, much to her disappointment. Nonetheless, the ancient Dragon perked her ears and listened earnestly to the two human requests.
"Do tell."
"Well," Yue shuffled her eyes around, only to land on Amon. Guessing that it was his cue, Amon stepped forward with a sigh and said:
"Yval, I have a request."
"Request? Wait, you…"
Watching Yval’s eyes widen, Amon let out a wry smile. As expected of the Golden Dragon Progenitor. All it took was one look for her to see that Amon’s vessel had reached its maximum capacity, and he required additional blessings to supplement it.
"How odd, this one had given you enough mana to break through the walls of humanity. Yet, it isn’t enough to contain your Lunar energy? How very mysterious…"
The Golden Dragon Progenitor glanced right at Amon with piercing eyes, forcing Amon to stand still nervously for a split second. She continued to observe and scan the fellow as if he were a rare specimen from the zoo. If heaven allowed it, she would have cut the young man open to research what was going on in his body.
"There’s nothing we can hide from you," Amon laughed bitterly. "Can you help me?"
"Help? Yes, of course, this one can help. But do you want to take the risk?"
"Risk?"
"If this one injects you with more mana, your vessel may not be able to handle it. Perhaps you may even stop being human."
Yval explained grimly. Giving Amon a little more mana wasn’t a big deal for her. Due to the Necropolis of the Gods, she still had plenty to spare. However, the repercussions for Amon could be irreversible. At the very least, his body would undergo a metamorphosis that would change his biological structure. In the worst-case scenario… Amon’s life may be forfeit.
"Now that we have reached this point, is there any other choice?" Amon shook his head as he made his decision. No, there wasn’t even a moment’s hesitation.
"Please."
"If you insist…"
Yval wasn’t all that sure, but if Amon was begging for it, there was no reason for her to deny him. Furthermore, she wondered what lengths Amon’s miraculous body could go to.
"Then, prepare yourself… Child of Solaris."
The Golden Dragon Progenitor closed her eyes, creating a silent sanctum with her energy. No commotion could get out within the force field, and no one could sense anything within. It was an isolated space controlled by Yval, making it a pocket dimension that no one could enter without the Dragon’s permission. She ensured no mana could leak out before concentrating her energy on her outstretched palm.
Golden light danced like falling stars as powerful energy surged through the tranquil garden. Sunlight shattered the dark, moonless night, forcing the lungs to struggle for breath. Amon and Yue’s expressions tightened as they fought to suppress their fear.
The ground and sky shook terribly, as if an apocalypse-level event had descended.
Of course, that was far from the case. Clutched in Yval’s palm was a small orb of light. One that seemed innocent and harmless, yet… it was causing the gravity of the garden to malfunction. Feeling the mana from Yval’s created orb, Amon unknowingly gulped a mouthful of saliva.
"Eat…"
Amon took a deep breath. The Solar mana held within the small bead was enough to explode the entire Solaris House, and it could undoubtedly overdose him to death.
Alas, Amon had no other choice. If he didn’t absorb the orb, he would stagnate in his realm, failing to cross the threshold into a more extraordinary being.
"..."
Amon reached out to the orb and gently held it with his fingers. Careful not to drop the dense energy bead, the young Solaris Knight prepared himself mentally with a single breath before popping the orb into his mouth like a sweet.
Instantaneously, a scorching heat erupted from his stomach and spread throughout his blood vessels. Torrents of mana that seemed to hold tsunamis of fire permeated from his organs until they eventually reached every corner of his body.
Unable to contain the heat, Amon fell to his knees and began to retch. Sweat broke free from all his pores, drenching the young man’s body in a disgusting puddle of perspiration. However, Amon’s body temperature had risen beyond that of boiling, instantly vapourising any sweat that dared to escape his skin.
Turning into a ball of steam, Amon did his best to keep consciousness, circulating his mana like his life depended on it. No, his life was indeed on the line. One moment of distraction and the heat would overwhelm his brain, frying his body from the inside out.
Six Suns orbited around the Solaris Knight, all greedily absorbing as much Solar mana as possible while keeping the draconic blessing from burning their master alive.
In his hazy consciousness, Amon forcibly used Yval’s blessing to reforge his filled vessel. His skin started to tear, and his muscles broke down. At the same time, many of his bones were shattering. If this continued for much longer, Amon would be reduced into a pile of bones and ash.
However, Amon used the ace up his sleeve.
Six Moons emerged from the depths of Amon’s soul, instantly cooling his temperature multiple folds. The reduced heat made the experience somewhat bearable for Amon as he continued to restructure his body with Yval’s blessing.
And as the heat reduced, an incomprehensible thought came into Amon’s mind.
’With all this Solar mana, maybe…’
Feeling daring, Amon steeled himself and unlocked the floodgates to his reserve of Lunar mana. Since he had transmigrated, Amon found that his Lunar mana had grown exponentially. It had come to a point where Amon had to forcibly seal it to prevent the imbalance between the Solar and Lunar mana in his body. But now that there was an excess of Solar mana, he could finally let it all go.
Amon’s eyes, which had always shone with a golden hue, were now turning silver. A dense silvery white aura emerged from the young man’s crown, and the immense heat that constantly boiled Amon’s body became a gentle heat wave.
The Six Moons illuminated the night sky, suppressing the Six Suns and the remnants of Yval’s blessing. Fire was now replaced with permafrost, as a shadow of a Seventh Moon formed above. Realising his mistake, Amon quickly restrained his Lunar mana, sealing the excess before it eliminated the Solar mana he had recently gotten.
After calibrating for a few seconds, Amon finally found the harmony between the two distinctly different manas and reforged his vessel.
Yval and Yue witnessed the whole sequence. While Yue wasn’t all that surprised, Yval was shellshocked.
"Heavens!!! What is this child?!"
The Golden Dragon Progenitor could hardly believe her eyes. The amount of mana she supplied would have killed any human without any exception. Perhaps only the Solaris Founder, explicitly bred to inherit a Golden Dragon’s power, would have withstood it. But, even then, Yval doubted he could have dealt with her mana the same way Amon did.
"This one gave him enough mana to become a Golden Dragon! To have more Lunar mana than that!!!"
"Sister Yval, why are you so surprised?"
Rather than share the ancient Dragon’s shock, Yue looked at Amon as if it were the most natural thing in the world. She glanced over her shoulder and explained:
"Didn’t you read my memories? So, you should know Amon’s true identity and why he was summoned here in the first place."
"T-That…"
The Dragon was rendered speechless. However, she didn’t interject, as she knew the world’s truth well. Simply, she watched with bated breath as Amon completed his ascension.
"It’s fine for now, but we’ll need to find a different way of getting Solar mana in the future."
"You’re right…"
Yval stared at Amon as if he were the most frightening existence in the entire universe. Gulping, she exclaimed:
"Even if I give him all of my mana, it won’t be enough to suppress his Lunar mana!!!"
