Chapter 1010: A Warm Recruiting

?

The good people of the city of Talmbron were living their lives normally as they had been for the past few years, coming back from their work in the evening. The sky turned red as a massive blast burst from the mountain range near the city, the shockwave almost ripped the city from its roots if not for its protective barrier taking the burnt of the damage.

The people had fallen to their knees from the impact and looked up at the shattering barrier, the first thing they could hear was the deafening roar of a dragon followed by a peal of demonic laughter rumbling across the sky.

The guards who rushed to the towers and looked with scoops managed to catch a glimpse of the chaos. The mountain range was set ablaze as the dragon they so feared for decades was now fighting a massive burning red and black magic.

Seconds later a carriage stopped by their front gate where Mesharra was driving. The guards stared down with terrified faces, but it seemed their lord's father was in the carriage, he was the one who went to a meeting with the king a week ago.

"Open the damned gate!" Their lord's father yelled, the carriage barely managed to survive the blast earlier and he didn't want to die just yet.

The guards rushed in and opened the gate. When inside, the lord's father jumped out of the carriage, dropping on his face with a terrified sweaty face. "I didn't know it'd be like this... damn it, what was that?!"

Echidna who jumped right after him kicked him in the balls hard enough that she sent him crying and rolling on the ground, "It's since you bastard didn't tell us there were two dragons there."

The guards rushed at her but Mesharra managed to knock them all out in the blink of an eye. "This won't go unanswered!" Mesharra then growled at the old man, "You could've died with us there!"

"I told you I didn't know that dragon had a mate! We only saw one dragon!" He cried with a tearful face.

Mesharra growled and looked back at the burning mountain, "Ah! Shit, what are we going to do now? Can Arad take on two dragons at once?"

"We can organize a planned attack to assist him...but the fire is in the way." Plum looked with Mesharra, "Can't you do something about it?"

"I can put the flame out with a powerful rainstorm. But that'll leave a lot of mud which makes moving heavy cannons nearly impossible." Mesharra growled.

"Just put the flames out, I'll go fight with him." Plum pulled her sleeves up, except she didn't have any sleeves and rolled air.

FLAP! FLAP! At that moment they could see one of the dragons flying into the sky, raining blood everywhere. "That's...a bit thin, she's the drakaina!" Mary pointed.

"Is she running away?" Mesharra gasped and soon a massive black fireball flew from the mountain and knocked the drakaina from the sky. The massive drakaina fell right outside the city's gate, shattering the walls.

Echidna looked at the drakaina with a terrified face. "She's dead..." She could see countless burn marks all over the drakaina's body, Arad had cooked her alive, and she was a red dragon that was supposed to be immune to fire.

Just as the guards were about to start freaking out, two massive black wings flew down from the sky, burning with black eldritch flames that crackled like thunder. Arad landed right beside the dead drakaina and looked at her, "I see...there is a limit to how cold things can get, but there isn't a limit to how hot it'll be. Red dragons can resist up to fifty times the heat of normal red flames, but after that, they can get burned."

He touched the drakaina's head and her whole body disappeared into his shadow like it's never been there, leaving on the trench her body dug while sliding toward the walls.

Arad then turned toward the city and saw all the terrified guards staring at him from the wall holding their spears and shaking. "Don't worry, the dragons are dead." He waved his hand with a smile, but that only made the guards even more terrified, who is this man who just killed two powerful dragons?

"Arad!" Mesharra rushed at him, "How did the fight go? Both of them are dead, right?"

"Of course, I was a bit surprised to find two of them...felt a bit weird pulling up on them while they were doing it. But, can't blame me when they got a long list of murders and kidnappings under their names." Arad lifted his arm and waved it. From the black shadowy fire burning from his arm over four hundred human skeletons emerged all lying on the ground. "Those are the dead merchants and sacrifices I found inside their lair, and for the living ones." He waved his hand and a terrified woman fell to the ground, covered in blood and barely covering her body with a single tattered rag.

The woman was mumbling to herself with a horrified face and Arad had nothing he could do, "She needs some rest, get her back to her family." He looked at the guards on the walls. For now, the guards decided to listen as for all they knew, he killed the two dragons terrorizing the lands. It also helped a lot that it just happened that the woman's younger brother was one of the guards and he rushed to her the moment he saw her.

"And...for the one that is neither dead nor alive..." He waved his hand and a vampire woman appeared, "The sacrifice from two years ago. I found her rotting inside a locked room within the dragon's den. I don't know with what kind of luck I got there in time, but if I was late even a few more minutes she would've been a corpse."

"She was rotting?" Mesharra gasped with a terrified face.

"With worms and all...her blood tastes sour and that's all you'll need to know how bad her situation was." Arad looked at the woman with a smile.

[That luck is called me. I told you a few days ago to hurry a bit, didn't I?] Yog's voice boomed inside Arad's head and he giggled, ^To be honest, you're starting to creep me out. Can you see the future or read fate, something like that?^

[No, I'm the bearer of forbidden knowledge. What is forbidden knowledge changes from one person to another, for example, it's forbidden knowledge to know when you'll die and how. Because such knowledge would drive that person insane.]

^So...do you know when you'll die? Or is that a forbidden knowledge to you?^

[I know of my death, I know all forbidden knowledge. I'll die alone, slowly fading into nothing over a million years of forgotten time. See you later, I've got work to do...] Yog cut the line and stood from her chair.

"Probably I shouldn't tell him that neither of us is real...mere words in a book. Our reality is a mere dream dreamt by our creator, and our creator's reality might just be another dream of a higher being...Knowing this would drive anyone mad, but I guess it also affects me, seeing how am I indifferent to the world." She floated away, "Now, back to work."

Arad walked toward the city gate and it opened up, "Go check on your family. Afterward, If you want to keep living as a vampire I'll leave you for it, if you want to die, I'll just release the

curse."

The woman was a nun of Yog her whole life until the dragon picked her as a sacrifice. In the time she spent dying in his layer her one wish was to see her family one last time before she died. Yog then gave her a dream, that if she tried to live as much as she could and endured her suffering, she'd get to see her family again.

When Arad arrived, she was minutes away from her death. To extend her time and give her a chance to see her family, he turned her into a vampire.

As Arad watched the woman rush back to her family, he suddenly blinked, "Ah, it's done." He looked back and his blood shadow elongated like a massive lake. "Should've expected that it'll take a bit of time...to turn dragons."

The two red dragons he just killed emerged from the blood and had become vampire dragons under his command. "I can create Vampires, Werewolves, and Pricolici. But as long as I don't make Pricolici, no one of my creation would have a chance of defeating me."

To steal a vampire or a werewolf's power and title, like the vampire lord status, the stealer must be first related to the vampire lord. For Arad to be able to steal Akasha's power he had to make her turn him into her vampire spawn first, at which he drank her blood and won.

As long as Arad doesn't make a Pricolici spawn, the vampires and werewolves spawn he makes would never have a chance of stealing his power.

Altair approached Arad, looking at the vampire dragons with a shocked face. "I can't believe my eyes...if you gathered an army like this...won't defeating Gamond be easy?"

Arad looked at her, "No. Her whole world united to defeat her and they failed, what made you think that gathering a small band of monsters would be able to scare her?"

"Were you like this in your world?" She asked with a puzzled face.

"Like what?"

"Pulling things like that...in a few days you've turned into an unknown monster and are now gathering an army of vampire and werewolf dragons and monsters alike..."

Arad thought about everything he had done before and shook his head, "Probably...but I'm sure more people are better than me." He looked at her, "And since you asked about me... there is something that has bothered me for a while now?"

"I know I can't cook, but I at least make sure your clothes are cleaned well." She gasped.

Arad looked at her for a while, "Hmmmm, it's probably a problem with me, not you..." He looked away.

"Hey! What is it!" She called him but he only waved his hand, "Forget I said anything. It's a problem with me, not you. I'll deal with it."

Out of everyone that he met, this woman felt different and he couldn't understand why. He tried asking Yog but she refused to give him an answer, which made him even more confused.
