Chapter 1891  Not everyone around you is your Ally. 2

"At first, I didn't know what to do with everything Lady Vulpheon told me. I was too immature back then, so I simply focused on her teachings and decided to form my Path.

However, as I grew and learned about Sylveris and our 'mission' to find out about the secret weapon,

It all became clear to me."

Vulpiana narrowed her eyes at those words.

Faelara continued,

"The secret weapon those otherworlders wanted to know about was none other than Azriel Ruinous, the Progenitor mentioned."

"Yes, I get that."

Vulpiana nodded, unable to understand what her mother was trying to get at.

"Vul, do you not understand?"

Faelara questioned.

"That man is a secret weapon that killed a Transcendent within a matter of seconds. Do you really think any random being can do it? Especially a being from a Low-Level World?"

Vulpiana's frown became deeper and deeper.

"That man helped our Progenitor deal with a High-Level World, accepted our entire race as a part of Yrniel, and is powerful enough to kill Transcendents without anyone even knowing how.

None of this made sense.

Something wasn't adding up.

A being from a Low-Level World wasn't supposed to be that strong.

He must have a secret,

Something…

Anything."

"Mother… what did you do?"

The absolute power that could make me the strongest."

Faelara stared at her daughter and,

Vulpiana narrowed her eyes.

"I did what every sane being would do,

I desired that power.

The absolute power that could make me the strongest."

Faelara stared at her daughter and,

"Yrniel is special, Vul.

It is no ordinary Low-Level World, it is something extremely special. So, if I get my hands on it, I will be special as well."

Vulpiana's expression changed. Faelara, however, did not stop there. It was just the beginning.

"Of course, be that as it may, I knew I was helpless against that being.

So I followed our ancestors' arrangements and remained in contact with the otherworlders. The plan was simple. I wanted to find out Azriel's limit and slowly but surely bring an enemy strong enough to self-destruct together with him.

But very quickly, I realized that wasn't possible.

That man seemed to have no limits. Every time Yrniel was in trouble, he eradicated the said trouble within seconds. It didn't matter if the enemy was a Sovereign, a Primordial, or even a Transcendent, he was too strong, and the otherworlders, after the death of a Transcendent, had become too paranoid.

I couldn't do anything.

I had no other choice but to give in.

I even thought of going to the Vampire Progenitor, seeking his help, and living under his protection, but then,

He appeared."

"He?"

"The Devil."

Faelara spoke with a playful smile on her face.

"That child who managed to defeat the Seven Heroes like they were nothing. A child who even defeated you."

Vulpiana frowned.

"It started with a small interest at first, but the more I learned about Nux, the more my interest grew.

Defeating the Heroes, even the Dragon Hero, who was a stage above him, and then challenging a Sovereign.

Slowly, I realized it,

That child's talents were higher than mine.

No, he was on an entirely different level.

He was like…

Azriel."

Faelara spoke as her eyes shined,

"However, there was a difference between the two.

Unlike Azriel,

He hadn't fully grown yet.

If it is his talent, his secret…

I could steal it.

So, my focus shifted to him. I wanted to know the source of his absurd talent. I wanted to know what his secret was, but the information about him was limited.

That man, however, had one weakness, or maybe I should call it an opening."

Vulpiana narrowed her eyes when she heard those words. She didn't like where this was going.

And Faelara, who could read her daughter's expression, smiled,

"Yes, it was women.

That boy trusts his women almost blindly. If I could become one of his women, he will tell me everything I want to know without any resistance whatsoever.

But…

Then I realized another thing,

That boy was more careful than he looked. He was too protective of his women, and his women were extremely perceptive as well. If I got close to him, the chances of him or his women sensing that something was wrong were high,

But…"

"So you decided to send me to them instead."

Vulpiana completed her mother's sentence, and Faelara nodded.

"That is correct.

And the reason I didn't tell you anything was because I wanted you to get close to him without him or his wives suspecting anything."

"Then why send me as a spy?"

Vulpiana couldn't understand.

It almost felt like her mother was purposefully making things difficult for her.

"What mother would send her daughter away without a reason? I sent you there because I 'wanted to protect you.'

And that spy thing was nothing more than for them to let their guard down around you. I wanted to come straight so they would not doubt you. Yes, they would be careful around you, but…"

Faelara stared at her daughter and smiled,

"I knew that if you stayed around him, he would fall for you eventually and open up.

And see? He fell for you, just like I thought."

"What?"

Vulpiana frowned.

"Hmm?"

Faelara frowned as well.

"What do you mean he fell for me?"

Vulpiana frowned, and at that question, Faelara laughed out loud.

"Oh, my sweet little daughter, how are you so oblivious?

That man destroyed five Middle-Level Worlds for your sake. Do you think he would do that for any random woman?"

"So he… likes me?"

"Of course, he does. Do you think he has what it takes to control himself?"

Faelara laughed.

"My plan was successful. He fell for you.

I just needed a few more years to know everything I wanted to know through you, but…"

Faelara just sighed self-deprecatingly.

"But?"

Vulpiana frowned.

"I underestimated him."

"What?"

"That child managed to destroy Middle-Level Worlds on his own. He is the one the Universe is after. Someone that makes the entire Universe react to his movements.

Whatever his source of power is,

It is something much grander than what I can ever handle."

"Then… are you going to give up like before and finally accept his help?"

Vulpiana questioned. At her words, however, Faelara blinked.

"Give up? What do you mean?"

"Huh?"

Vulpiana frowned, and as if wanting to wake her sleeping child up, Faelara snapped her fingers in front of Vulpiana and,

"Vul, he is a man the Universe is after, and only we know that.

If we reveal this information to… let's say the Supreme Worlds, they might even allow us to become a part of them, raising our potential to an absurd level.

If that happened, Transcendent wouldn't be our limit anymore.

All of that just by providing his information to the people who want it.

There is no easier way out."

Faelara's smile widened, liking her newest plan more and more.
