Chapter 729 Lesson One
Chapter 729 Lesson One
The next day, Damien was still sound asleep when he was woken up by a knock on the door.
"Who's it?" Damien rubbed his eyes and asked before getting out of his bed.
Before he opened the door, he heard Kenneth's voice from outside, "It's me."
Damien unlocked the door and looked at Kenneth with one of his eyes still closed. "What?" he asked in his throaty morning voice. He then scratched his bare chest and asked again, "Are we going somewhere this early?"
"I am going to teach you how to win over your thirst starting today," Kenneth gave a taunting smile and invited himself inside Damien's room.
Damien drooped his shoulders and asked after letting out a sigh, "Do we have to do it this early in the morning? I'm still sleepy."
Kenneth looked very pleased by that reaction, almost as though he was doing the same thing to Damien that someone else had done to him in the past. "Yes, if you want to win over your thirst, then you will have to win over everything else – your sleep, tiredness, everything."
Damien didn't question him any further. He was already glad that Kenneth was willing to help him. So he closed the door and then turned to face Kenneth.
"So, what do I have to do?" Damien asked while putting on his vest.
And when Damien looked at Kenneth, the latter took out a small cylindrical vial of human blood and shook it while showing it to Damien.
Damien took a step back and then warningly looked at Kenneth. "Don't you dare open it! Did you forget what I did to you and your cousin yesterday?"
"No, I haven't." Kenneth's teasing expression suddenly turned serious. And he added, "That's why I am doing this so that you won't go around killing humans. And me."
Kenneth then further explained what Damien was supposed to do at the moment. "When I open this vial, you will surely smell the blood. And what I need you to do is to resist for as long as you can. When you feel like you can't resist anymore, you can take this vial from me and drink it."
However, Damien didn't seem to like the idea at all. He took several steps away from Kenneth while warning him again, "Look, Kenny… I really appreciate that you are trying to help me. But I don't think the method that you are trying to use right now would be in any way helpful to me."
"This is the only way. You will have to win over your urge by facing it head on." Kenneth then proceeded to open the lid.
"Wait!" Damien shouted again, afraid that he would end up doing something really bad to Kenneth. "I have to tell this to you before you do anything stupid."
"Tell me what?"
Damien hesitated for a second but blurted out anyway, "Your blood tastes way better than human blood. What if you just provoke my hunger, but I ignore that tiny vial and go for your neck again?"
"That is up to you to resist the urge to bite me. You can politely take this vial and be content with it for today," Kenneth nonchalantly replied even though deep down he was a little scared that Damien would do exactly what he just said.
And Damien protested for the umpteenth time, "You saw how I acted yesterday. I could have drained both you and your cousin completely! There is no way I am going to be content with that little vial of blood."
Kenneth nodded his head and tried to calm Damien down. "You are right. You drank a lot of blood yesterday. That is why I am confident that you won't feel like drinking more than this tiny vial.
You attacked both of us like that and couldn't stop because you hadn't built your resistance. You had probably never drank blood before.
And all of a sudden, when someone spread out the sweetest dessert in front of you, you couldn't help but try to devour it all. Had you been eating a small slice of cake every day, then you would be content with that small slice even if you stood in front of the table full of varieties of cakes."
Everything that Kenneth said went right above Damien's head. So he grabbed his hair with both of his hands and groaned, "Ugh! What cakes? I don't even like cakes!"

Kenneth pressed his lips together and then replied after taking a few moments to gather his patience, "I was giving an example, you idiot! What I meant to say is that if you had been drinking a small amount of blood each day, then that would have helped you to control your urge to go for the kill whenever you smelled blood."
"See! That's what I am saying! I hadn't been drinking blood every day. You already know that I grew up in Hell. So what if I kill you, damn it?" Damien asked with a tensed look on his face.
Kenneth sighed because of Damien's stubbornness. He then got up and said, "We have to start somewhere. Don't you think so?"
He pointed his brows towards the door, hinting at the other guests' rooms, and asked in a serious tone, "You don't want to accidentally kill someone important to you, right?"
Damien understood what Kenneth was trying to say. With how things were going, he was afraid that he would end up attacking the twins or Zach. He didn't want to spend another decade drowning himself in guilt if he actually did something bad to the people he cared about.
"Come on! Don't be afraid now!" Kenneth frowned at Damien.
And before Damien could protest any further, Kenneth popped the vial open. The sweet aroma of blood instantly lingered in the air and made its way towards Damien's nose.
Damien's eyes immediately changed their colors. His fangs grew out. And his mouth watered as his tongue recalled that divine taste that matched the smell.
"Remember, Damien. Resist. For as long as you can," Kenneth shouted while holding out his hand to the side. He wanted to keep that vial as far away from his neck as he could.
Kenneth then hoped that Damien would hold out his hunger and hold his ground for at least a minute.
