Chapter 241: Chapter 242: Kneel Down
Smack!
Xiao Han didn’t hold back and stepped forward to deliver a slap.
“You!” The man with the tank top glared with wide eyes.
Whoosh…
All the onlookers were stunned, their faces filled with shock, their eyes and mouths wide open. They had thought Xiao Han might hit one person, but never expected this kid would actually go on to hit several, and not just anywhere, but directly across the face. This behavior was truly shocking.
The man with the tank top looked at Xiao Han, bewildered. Then, suddenly, he lunged at Xiao Han like a madman.
Xiao Han didn’t hold back. With a swing of his leg, he kicked fiercely into the man’s back. The man was already charging at a high speed, and this kick made things even worse. He was immediately struck silly by the blow, stumbling several times before collapsing. His body went straight into a nearby greenery strip.
“Ah!!” Suddenly, a scream came from within the greenery.
The crowd looked on in horror at the man with the tank top, who then crawled out of the greenery covered in glass shards. Someone must have thrown their glass bottle among the plants after finishing a drink, which then shattered on a rock into pieces. Now, those pieces were embedded in the man’s face.
The man screamed in agony, fortunately without glass hitting his eyes; otherwise, the consequences could have been unimaginable.
“It’s over, his face is ruined.”
“This is the end.”
Many people exclaimed in shock. But Xiao Han didn’t let the man go and instead roared again, “Kneel down!”
“I’m going to fight you!” The man kept screaming in pain, holding half a bottle in his hand, attempting to use the broken bottle as a weapon against Xiao Han. Clearly, he had underestimated Xiao Han’s capabilities. Xiao Han turned and delivered another kick.
Bang!
With that, the man was completely dazed. One kick and he passed out, collapsing heavily onto the ground. He suffered a severe blow to his head, and the glass bottle in his hand fell and shattered. The man lay on the ground motionless.
“Could this lead to trouble?”
“He better not be dead; otherwise, things are really going to blow up.”
The spectators exclaimed, all of them hoping someone would teach the Little Overlord a lesson. But at the same time, they did not want the person who could put the Little Overlord in place to run into trouble. Otherwise, how would they handle the Little Overlord’s reign over this turf in the future? So they didn’t want Xiao Han to stir up trouble; if he ended up in jail, Xiao Han’s life would be ruined.
“All of you, kneel down!” Xiao Han shouted at the others.
Rustle…
Several men knelt down. Having seen what happened earlier, they didn’t dare to act rashly and could only kneel, each hanging their heads low on the ground, even the leader amongst the men had to kneel. He knew that if he didn’t kneel today, it would be difficult to leave this place unscathed.
Xiao Han’s lips curled into a sinister smile as he said, “Consider this a warning. If you dare do this again, I won’t be so lenient!”
“Yes, yes, yes!” Several men nodded their heads in agreement.
“Now get lost!” Xiao Han yelled.
The simplest way to overpower someone is to dominate them psychologically. If you beat them mentally, they will never dare to offend you. The best way to conquer your enemy is to crush their spirit. Xiao Han made them kneel to completely break their pride and their psychological defenses. This way, they would no longer dare to act recklessly.
Rustle…
The men scrambled to their feet and ran off sheepishly. Even the man with the tank top, who had been in a faint just moments before, got up in an instant and quickly ran away.
“Xiao Han, you’re so awesome!” Li Ruobing exclaimed with joy, rushing over. She hugged Xiao Han’s arm and said admiringly, “How are you so strong?”
At this moment, the boy who had been bullied hurried over and asked, “Are you Xiao Han?”
“Hmm!” Xiao Han nodded.
“You’re the valedictorian, Xiao Han?” the boy asked in surprise.
“Right!” Xiao Han smiled and said, “It was just luck that got me good grades.”
“I never imagined you were also skilled in kung fu!” The boy looked at Xiao Han in amazement then said, “It’s really an eye-opener.”
“Why were they hitting you?” Xiao Han asked.
“I accidentally bumped into them and knocked over their squid balls,” the boy said. “They demanded I pay 500 yuan as compensation. A portion of squid balls only costs a few yuan. Isn’t demanding 500 yuan the same as extortion? So, I argued with them, and then they hit me.”
“Even though you knew they were bullies, you still dared to argue with them?” Xiao Han asked, puzzled.
“Even though I knew they were strong, I still have the freedom to defend my rights!” the boy said.
“What’s your name?” Xiao Han asked, puzzled.
“My name is Chen Tiannan.” The man smiled, then said, “I’m also a student at Shuimu University, but I’m in the Law Department. I know you’re from the Finance Department. Right?”
“Yes!” Xiao Han nodded.
“I really want to thank you for today,” Chen Tiannan said earnestly as he looked at Xiao Han. “It’s getting late, and I still have homework to do. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime as a way of saying thanks.”
“Sure,” Xiao Han smiled.
Chen Tiannan waved goodbye to Xiao Han and then turned and left.
Watching Chen Tiannan’s retreating figure, Li Ruobing said with a chuckle, “What a fool. He knew he wasn’t a match for the other person, but he still had to argue. Isn’t that just asking for trouble? Sigh, are all students from the Law Department this stubborn?”
“I think he’s a pretty good person,” Xiao Han said. “Our country lacks such people. Our citizens are like frogs, our policy is like warm water, and we’re always being boiled by it. In the end, we’ll be cooked by others and become their meal.”
“Hehe…” Li Ruobing laughed. “You’re speaking too profoundly. I don’t understand it.”
“Let’s go,” Xiao Han replied.
The two left University Town and then headed towards a nearby park. There were quite a few people in the park. It was the start of the semester, and many young couples were reuniting, so they were all particularly excited. On the first night of the new semester, they walked hand in hand towards the riverside.
The Wanglong River flowed straight ahead, an unnamed riverbank. It wound slowly through the park.
The scenery was nice, and the nightscape was even more charming. The streetlights were quite unique, all solar-powered. The abundant shade of the green trees made the walk beneath them cool and comfortable, driving away the scorching heat of the summer and making one feel very comfortable.
“What do you think?” Li Ruobing asked with a smile. “Nice place, isn’t it?”
“Not bad, quite cool,” Xiao Han replied, looking into the distance. “Which school is on the other side?”
“South China Normal University,” Li Ruobing answered. “There are quite a few beauties in there.”
“Really?” Xiao Han smiled, then said, “With three schools around, there’s good business potential here.”
“What did you say?” Li Ruobing asked, puzzled.
“Nothing much!” Xiao Han shook his head. “I just think the scenery here is nice. It seems that my four years of university life won’t be too boring after all.”
“Boring? How could it be?” Li Ruobing laughed. “Once you start school, there’ll be many club activities, and the school will also have lots of events waiting for you. University life is much more colorful than high school life.”
The two strolled along the riverbank where the water flowed slowly. Since this river was upstream from the provincial city, there was almost no pollution. Walking along the riverbank, one could smell the fresh scent of the grass. The smell was very pleasant and refreshing.
“I hope so,” Xiao Han said with a smile.
After walking along the riverbank for a while, the two slowly made their way back to Shuimu University.
After returning, Xiao Han escorted Li Ruobing back to the girls’ dormitory. Below the girls’ dormitory, quite a few couples were getting intimate. Some were flirting, while others were deeply infatuated. As people saw Xiao Han and Li Ruobing walking back shoulder to shoulder, they all looked on curiously.
“Isn’t that Li Ruobing?”
“Yeah, did she get a boyfriend?”
Many gossip-loving girls glanced curiously and even sneakily took photos with their phones, uploading them to the campus forum.
Before long, the news of the pure and demure Li Ruobing getting a boyfriend spread throughout the entire Shuimu University.
Back at the dormitory, Liu Bin, Zhang Feng, and Zhang Dagou were all gone, probably out for a dinner gathering. The dormitory was rather quiet, but it was tidy. After sitting down, Xiao Han made a phone call to his mother to let her know he was safe. Then he called Yang Lu.
“Sister Yang, I’ll take a good look around here,” Xiao Han said seriously. “I think this location is good.”
“Okay, then I’ll have Zhao Lizhong give it a good analysis,” Yang Lu nodded. “I’ll have him come over in the next few days to check it out. If it’s really viable, then we’ll settle on it. We have to take this step sooner or later, so we might as well set up a branch there.”
After a moment’s thought, Xiao Han replied, “Alright. I do think it’s possible here, but there will be competitive pressure.”
“Mm!” Yang Lu chuckled, then said, “Xiao Han, are you doing okay in the provincial city?”
“I’m doing fine,” Xiao Han nodded. “Sister Yang, you don’t have to worry about me. I’m doing well here.”
“That’s good to hear,” Yang Lu nodded. “When we open the branch in the provincial city, I’ll come and manage it, okay?”
Xiao Han was surprised, asked, “Why? Isn’t Linjiang City good enough?”
“No… That’s not what I mean!” Yang Lu hurriedly shook her head. “I just think the provincial city offers a bigger space, a wider market, doesn’t it?”
“Mm!” Xiao Han nodded. “Okay, if you want to come over, when the branch here is up and running, you can come. We do indeed need an extra hand over here!”
