The first set of system messages was as short as it could get. It provided me with just the bare-bone news of what changed. And while that alone gave me enough information to ponder over for weeks to come, right now, this was the least important of my issues.

"Shit…"

I only managed to smash the autopilot switch with a desperate throw of my hand before a surge of power threatened to wash my consciousness away. And with this surge, a second wave of system messages surfaced, this time nowhere as concise as before.

It wasn't the first time me to go through this feeling of having every tiniest building block of my body decompose and recompose itself back into shape. I was no stranger to this process happening tens, hundreds if not thousands of times in every single instance.

This pain was more than just familiar, even if my most recent rebirth went through without any of this pain. Yet, even though my endurance was now shy-high compared to what it was during my last, actually painful rebirth…

It appeared as if this process somehow went behind my endurance's back, minding not whether or not the resilience of my triple-evolved flesh was supposed to dull the pain or not. In fact, this time the whole ordeal grew much, much heavier… Because I wasn't the only one going through it.

"Guys?"

Claudy's voice was the last thing I'd heard before the burning pain of having my entire body go through a process of endless reconstruction took over nearly my entire mind.

'I need to…'

More on autopilot than with conscious thought, I sent the surge of my aura straight into my core…

Only to realize it has now evolved, brimming not only with Fay's light and consuming everything through my innate darkness… but now it also seemed to provide a purifying quality to all of the aura's weaves, shedding all the fake and unnecessary and replacing it with more of the same, pure aura born out of the triple-natured core of my soul.

The surge of power rushed straight into the very core of my soul, flooding it with more and more energy, somehow reaching near the limits of what it could process or contain. In exchange, more and more of the purified energy fed into my preexisting weaves, more reinforcing than building up upon the construct within my soul.

In the corner of my vision - was it even vision when I was lost deep into the maze of my own soul? - I could see all of my stats shooting up, all increasing at the same pace, and at a fifth of the rate at which my usable points continued to decrease.

At the same time, though, my aura continued to grow as well, once again proving that, for some reason, it was one part of my system that was somewhat detached from the rest.

'What the hell... is going… on?' Your next chapter is on empire

Struggling to form a single, cohesive thought, I could only grit my teeth and wait while this surge of power continued to feed into my weave, replacing all that was even slightly blemished by…

By what exactly?

Were there levels of aura's quality? Was one aura better than the other? More… pure?

'It's a good question to think about,' I took a deep breath, still struggling to keep the pain on the inside, desperate to overcome my own ordeal and then unlock my bond with Fay so that I could take over at least some of her own burden. 'If only I wasn't fucking dying right now…'

Dying was a necessary process of one's rebirth. And so, I continued to die and die and die, over and over and over again… Surviving only by the slight difference at which my body and powers continued to keep reviving me again and again and again…

And then, just like that, with no fanfare or great, cinematic music going off at max volume, everything came to an end.

My darkness core outfitted with a hint of Fay's nature and now even further enriched by the essence of starlight consumed all of the energy that came surging into my soul. It consumed it all and then popped out nothing but aura in its purest and rawest form possible.

And with that power feeding into my existing aura weave, I could feel my entire being transforming, reaching even further beyond like in one of those legendary stories for children and grown-up men alike of ancient times.

Normally, this moment would be the cue for me to start a small celebration of achieving yet another benchmark, growing even stronger than before. In this particular case, all the more with how I've now surpassed the limits of what I knew to be possible in this world. After all, up to this day, Supremes were the absolute cream of the top, the peak of how strong one could grow.

I've never even heard of a rank that would go beyond supreme. And with nothing to start my interest in it, neither did I waste my time trying to think about how it would possibly work.

And here I was, somehow reaching a rank that went beyond supreme.

'I wonder what my current rank is called,' I thought while putting my full focus on Fay and shattering the hold on our bond, all for the sake of reinforcing my woman in her plight… Only to realize that she either had it much easier than I did, completed the ordeal way before me, or simply did it at the very same time.

Whatever the case, the moment I relaxed my own choke-hold over our bond, our souls united, while our aura weaves perfectly intermingled with each other, as if every gap within my weave was there for Fay's weave to pass through uninterrupted.

"That was…"

A low, labored whisper escaped from Fay's lips as she struggled to push her head over to the side, way too tired to even think about simply looking over.

Turning my head over as well, I locked gazes with the girl, adding yet another layer to our ongoing union.

"WAKE THE FUCK UP, EITHER OF YOU, I BEG YOU!"

Claudy's desperate shout finally forced me awake, chasing away all the demons of exhaustion that lingered after the torturous process of rebirth.

"FOR ALL THAT'S HOLY, I BEG OF YOU, SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!"
