Chapter 1358 Escape?
It only took an instant before the entire area began to fill up with the voidlings. Where there was hellishly frozen ice, there was a voidling. Where there was water, there was a voidling. The entire space was bursting at the seams with voidlings. The very reality was being twisted and turned.
Naturally, the first target of these annoyingly efficient pests was the huge monstrosity. Liam grinned wildly as his calculations did not let him down. The resistance he felt for executing the soul swap suddenly reduced as the voidlings clashed against the whale octopus chimeric monster.
Liam only needed that small advantage. He immediately got the hell out of there. Sacrificing his soul minion back at his starting point, he switched places with it.
The big bad whale sensed his absence and was quick to respond. Despite literally being on the other side of the world, Liam could feel that he did not have much time. Only a fraction of a second if at all.
BOOOM!
An explosion rocked, sending waves across the entire world. How powerful would the attack have been if Liam had felt the repercussions this far out? The land underneath him trembled and came loose just from the impact.
The murderous colossal beast did not waste time unleashing some sort of ultimate attack to shake loose the voidlings. Liam could see the entirety of trees, mountains and the very earth ripped from the root of the world.
Fuck! It was already here.
Liam was also not standing idly. In his hand was a torn talisman of teleportation that he had already activated, the moment the soul swap was complete. Now he only needed 5 seconds before he got the hell out of this crumbling world.
But 5 seconds it seemed like an eternity in front of this madness. The colossal beast loomed on the horizon like a massive asteroid striking the world. In the blink of an eye, it arrived in front of Liam.
Liam was finally able to get a good look at it. Not that this helped with anything.
Its colossal form was a nightmarish fusion of sea beasts: the massive body of a whale, the tentacles of an octopus writhing with lethal intent, and the gaping maw of a shark lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth. Scales that shimmered like dark ice covered its body, each one etched with ancient runes pulsing with malevolent energy. Multiple eyes glowed with an eerie light, each fixing on Liam with a look of absolute outrage.
Time seemed to slow as the beast reared back, preparing to unleash a devastating attack. The very air around Liam crackled with raw power, making it hard to breathe. He could feel the ground trembling beneath his feet, the shockwaves from the creature's previous assault still rippling through the earth.
"Five seconds," Liam thought, his mind racing. "I just need to survive five more seconds."
Clutching the torn talisman tightly, he poured every ounce of his remaining energy into his defenses. He used every single soul crystal he had left and used it all to form the best soul barrier he could muster.
However, it was not enough. Whatever he created was swept in the winds of power like it was merely dust. Immense power assaulted him from all sides, and his body felt like it was being torn apart. Liam gritted his teeth. Did he push too far this time? Before he could finish this thought, another blinding light erupted and the talisman's natural barrier sprang up at the exact moment.
The protective shield enveloped him, absorbing the initial impact of the colossal beast's attack. The force was unimaginable; the ground beneath him quaked, and the air vibrated with energy so intense it was almost suffocating.
Inside the barrier, Liam felt as if he were standing at the center of a raging storm. Cracks began to appear on the surface of the shield, spider webbing outward. The talisman pulsed erratically in his hand, its energy reserves dwindling rapidly.
Right at this moment, the next crucial part kicked in.
The spatial turbulence.
The many many spatial tears and ripples that marred this part of the world thanks to the meticulous work by the voidlings. This was exactly what Liam counted on to ultimately teleport safely out of this place.
Normally, something like this would be very dangerous as the chances of getting ripped apart by spatial storms were very extremely high but what were these chances in front of the rabid colossal beast who wanted to one shot him. It was better to take his chances with the spatial storms.
Liam sighed in relief as the teleportation process became haphazardly hurried and the world in front of him quickly faded from his vision before being replaced by blinding lights. The colossal beast's furious roar echoed faintly as the teleportation whisked him away, the sounds and sights of the crumbling world vanishing in an instant.
When the light subsided, Liam found himself sprawled on a rocky red terrain. The sky above him was pitch black. Liam had no idea where he was. He did not plan to be here for long. Just as he felt several powerful auras lock down on him, he immediately crushed another teleportation token.
This time there were no spatial tears or turbulence around and he found himself standing on the same system shop teleportation circle. He was back in the Purple world run by the Eternal Sword Palace.
Liam slumped to his knees in exhaustion right on the teleportation circle getting a few looks from the fairies in the system shop. But it looked like these kinds of happenings were more frequent than not. No one spared him a second glance except for the fairy who politely shoved him to the side away from the circle carvings.
Liam did not care about his disheveled appearance and took the opportunity to catch his breath and recover some of his strength. He downed a few potions and dragged himself to a nearby inn before collapsing into a deep sleep.
