“My bum hurts.” Lingzi replied, her big eyes welling up with tears.
Jiang Ning grumbled, “Serves you right! That’s what you get for not listening!”
“Wuuu wuuu! Mommy, help rub it!” Lingzi sobbed pitifully, her small arms wrapping around her mother’s neck, and shedding tears on her cheek.
Jiang Ning held her tightly, comforting, “Don’t ride horses recklessly anymore, alright? It’s not that mommy doesn’t want you to ride, you’re just not tall enough yet. Wait until you are taller, stronger, and can manage the pony before you ride it again, okay?”
“Mhm! I won’t dare do it again.”
Lingzi whimpered obediently in agreement.
Jiang Ning bent over to see Wenzan restraining his expression. She stroked his face, relaxing her tone, “Why aren’t making any noise? Your sister will be fine you know.”
Wenzan spoke with determination, “Mommy, I will take better care of little sister in the future and prevent her from being naughty.”
“I know, it will be okay.”
Jiang Ning comforted her son while directing her gaze towards Li Tingqian, teasingly, “Xiaoqian, did Wenzan and Lingzi interrupt your studies today?”
Li Tingqian immediately shook his head. “I like studying together with my younger siblings. Please don’t stop Lingzi from coming to the Elegance Palace, Aunt.”
“Of course not, your aunt is not one to throw out the baby with the bathwater.”
Jiang Ning said with a smile, “I will take Lingzi with me back. What about you two? If you don’t want to study this afternoon, you can come back to the East Palace with me.”
Li Tingqian looked towards Wenzan.
Wenzan said, “Lingzi got scared, so you should go back with her, mother. I want to stay here and hear Master Lin recite.”
“Are you sure? If you come back with me, I can make something tasty for you to eat.”
All three children were tempted by her food.
But after all, Jiang Ning wasn’t a professional cook, nor did she particularly enjoy cooking every day.
