Chapter 489 Price of Power

Chapter 489 Price of Power

"Queen Padae, for the sake of peace between our factions, hiding her isn't wise. Earth is threatened by alien forces, and her power is important for the plan to save the world," the man in the white suit urged, his words intentionally tailored for the tribal-like civilization he addressed.

Using my abilities, I saw through his true name: Harvey Lynch.

"I'm all for peace, but I'm not hiding anyone in my territory. I don't even know who you're looking for," she replied, her voice steady.

If I hadn't conducted my own secret infiltration, I might have been inclined to believe her words.

"Do you even have proof " She added questioning the validity of their claims.

Harvey paused, contemplating for a moment.

"Give us access to your territory to confirm," he responded.

"We don't permit men to enter our domain," she countered authoritatively, leveraging her tradition against him.

'Oh, she's quite the feisty one,' I mused silently as I observed the confrontation between the two.

Just by observing, I could tell that the Amazonian Queen was powerful, far stronger than Zhang.

However, the two individuals from the opposing side was even more capable than her.

The power gap between them was so vast that if they were to engage in combat, it wouldn't even be a real battle.

Plus, her fellow Amazonians wouldn't offer much assistance in a group fight, as they were all outclassed by their opponents.

At this point, they were nothing but props.

I wasn't the only one aware of this; the rhythm of Padae's heartbeat revealed that she was also contemplating the same.

What she was doing now was merely bluffing her way out of the situation. Something that would only work if she were as cunning as me. .

'Why is she protecting her too much?' I pondered silently.

Humans always have a motive, a favor for something with equal value. I wondered what Shao Mi had promised the Amazonian Queen to earn such support.

"Don't test us. Given Earth's circumstances, the sovereignty we granted could be strip off anytime," Harvey declared .

Instead of a positive response, Padae's face turned slightly red with anger.

"Who are you to decided that ? We been living in this place even before you're country was created," she sneered in contempt. She did not like how the other side was acting high and mighty.

She reached for something at her waist, and with a flick of her arms, a thunderous crack shattered the air.

CRACK!

CRACK!

CRACK!

A long, golden whip sliced through the air, each strike sending shockwaves rippling through the surroundings. The force was enough to make the very air tremble.

'That weapon is made of alien materials,' I mused.

I could tell just by looking at it that no earthly element possessed the same properties as the whip.

Every time she moved the whip, the kinetic energy built up and multiplied.

'This is getting more interesting,' I mused, touching my chin, curious about what would unfold next. That Alien weapon might actually give her a fighting chance.

"You're going to regret this," Harvey shook his head, then tore off his clothing, revealing a silver body that resembled that of a robot.

Following his lead, everyone in his group also did the same.

"You sacrifice your humanity for power," Padae's voice rang out, heavy with disdain.

"Human bodies are weak; this is the future," Harvey retorted, a smug expression adorning his face. He took pride in the extensive customization and alterations made to his body.

And truth be told, I couldn't entirely disagree with him.

Human bodies are inherently fragile and limiting.

Even my present body had undergone numerous modifications just to meet my standards.

However, I didn't have to resort to turning my body into a robot because my control over atomic matter far surpassed that level of technology.

Doing so would be like asking me to build a car when I could just teleport. Completely unnecessary.

In the end, what mattered most was power and consciousness. As long as a person was self-aware and possessed strength, they could be a rock, for all I cared.

Of course, this principle only applied to others; when it came to my future harem candidate , I still preferred humanoid partners. Find your next adventure on empire

And furries?

Well, I could totally get behind a furry as long as it has a humanoid physique.

I would be honest, I'm pretty sure I'll meet alien women someday, so it's better to expand my preferences and my portfolio at the same time.

Back to the confrontation.

"I'll break that twisted belief of yours!" Padae declared, initiating the first attack.

She swung her whip, this time with even greater speed and force, causing the end tip to seemingly teleport in front of Harvey.

BOOM!

As it reached him, a thunderous sound echoed through the air, akin to the detonation of a bomb, sending tree leaves scattering from the impact.

It was an attack that could demolish multiple buildings with a single swoop.

The fact that the whip could amplify her attack to such an extent was something that made this whole scene more fun to watch.

However—

When the dust settled, the Astrold Family group remained standing, unscathed, shielded by a semi-transparent yellow barrier.

'Oh, that's like a cheap version of my Energy Projection,' I chuckled inwardly.

They had to cooperate and pool their power to imitate an ability that I could effortlessly unleash at will.

It wasn't necessarily that creating the barrier required a huge amount of power, but relying solely on individual energy pools would have meant a longer casting time.

By pooling their resources, they could create the barrier instantly.

This demonstrated the huge investment of resources and time that the Astrold family had put into developing this technology.

I rated their version a 5 out of 10 for being a cheap copy, but awarded them a perfect 10 out of 10 for their commendable effort.

As for the Queen of the Amazonian?

When she saw the barrier, she didn't show any hint of worry.

Instead, she raised her arms, swinging the whip upward. It began to extend until it reached a staggering 50 feet.

Then, with a powerful downward motion, she brought it crashing down.

The force alone ripped the air around it, and I could see the space around the whip becoming chaotic.

Harvey in his group also noticed the increase in power by her attack this time, and in return they put up barriers again, this time it has 10 layers, because they had enough time before the attack hit it.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

When the whip collided with the barrier, it triggered a huge explosion, engulfing the area in a blinding light.

Everyone was temporarily blinded by the intense glare, except for me.

As the shockwave reverberated outward, the ground beneath us began to shake violently, experiencing a magnitude 6 earthquake from the sheer force of the collision.

'Good sound and visual effect,' I thought as I watched everything unfold, feeling like I was just watching a 3D movie.
