After a moment of thought, Mu Xichen asked, "What is the connection between this organization and what is written in these documents? Do you think they are behind the natural disasters?"

Xu Ruihan shook his head. "No. But I think the reason Grandpa Yao asked me to protect Yao Ran before he died is connected to this organization."

Seeing Mu Xichen's curious expression, Xu Ruihan continued, "Grandpa Yao suspected that one of the orphans he took in to help Yao Ran is the leader of The Ark. He hadn't found concrete evidence before and didn't want to alarm them, so he secretly told me about this matter before he died."

Mu Xichen frowned at his words. "Enemies? If the leader of The Ark is one of the orphans Grandpa Yao saved, shouldn't that person be an ally?"

Xu Ruihan rubbed his temples and shook his head. "I don't know what Grandpa Yao discovered, but he told me to protect Yao Ran from this person. He also agreed with my grandpa's request that we should marry because of this."

Mu Xichen's eyes glimmered with understanding. He looked at Xu Ruihan and said, "So that is why your grandpa keeps trying to pair the two of you. I thought he just wanted a great- grandson, but it was actually a secret deal with Grandpa Yao."

Xu Ruihan nodded, "Yes."

After a brief pause, Mu Xichen asked, "If your grandpa agreed to this, he must have received something in return."

Xu Ruihan hesitated before admitting, "Yes. Grandpa Yao gave everything to Yao Ran. When we marry, half of it will become mine. With the Yao family's wealth, my family could dominate the underground in the shortest time possible."

He paused for a second and then added, "Grandpa Yao also gave my grandpa a gold mine and a diamond mine as part of the agreement."

Hearing this, Mu Xichen leaned back, and a teasing flashed inside his cold eyes. "No wonder your family's wealth skyrocketed in recent years, even surpassing mine. Looks like your grandpa sold you to the Yao family to marry as a living-in son-in-law."

Xu Ruihan glanced at him and frowned in displeasure. He coldly said, "Stop joking. Yao Ran already has a boyfriend. It wouldn't be good if her boyfriend misunderstood our relationship. I only want to repay Grandpa Yao's kindness to my family when we were in the most difficult times by protecting Yao Ran."

"So, what will you do now?" Mu Xichen asked.

Xu Ruihan sighed and said, "What can I do? I promised Grandpa Yao I'd protect her. Even if I didn't marry her, I can still help her. I can still be her family without getting married."

"As long as my grandfather accepts her as his adopted granddaughter, we can become brother and sister. With my family as her backing, she can do more and have more courage facing her enemies."

After saying that, Xu Ruihan frowned and added, "However, something is bothering me. From what I have found, this organization, The Ark, seems to be targeting Yao Ran."

Mu Xichen thought for a moment and said, "If even Grandpa Yao was cautious of them, they won't be easy to deal with."

"You are right," Xu Ruihan agreed.

Seeing his troubled expression, Mu Xichen said, "Don't overthink it. Since you have decided, we can only move forward. Our first step is to build enough power to rival The Ark. For now, let's focus on helping your second uncle clean up this base."

Xu Ruihan raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, "Do you have a plan?"

Mu Xichen nodded, "Yes. The plan is simple. Have you heard the Second Army is recruiting soldiers?"

"Yes. Many soldiers are requesting early retirement. I guess Du Zhaoyi is anxious because of this." Xu Ruihan replied.

Mu Xichen nodded and explained, "To defeat the city, first, we need to cut off the supply. Our first move is to recruit those soldiers before the Second Army does."

Xu Ruihan's eyes glimmered with understanding. After considering the idea, he said, "Alright. Let's do it your way."

With their decision made, Mu Xichen stood from the couch and said, "I will start preparing for the recruitment. You should focus on securing the supplies."

"Alright."

With that being said, the two of them left the villa and went to do their tasks.

Meanwhile, the workers had finished installing the power grids and generators in the villa next door. After packing up their tools and collecting payment, they headed to Yao Ran's villa.

Arriving in front of Yao Ran's villa, one of the workers knocked on the metal gate and asked, "Young Lady, are you inside?"

Hearing this, Yao Ran, who had been waiting for them, quickly came out with a flashlight. When she saw them at the gate, she opened it and said, "Uncle, I have prepared the materials. Please come in."

The worker and his team followed Yao Ran inside. Once there, he asked, "Young Lady, where do you want the power grids to be installed?"

Pointing at the wall, Yao Ran said, "Uncle, before installing the power grids, could you help me increase the height of the wall?"

The worker's eyes lit up at her words, and he responded, "No problem. But you have to pay extra for that job."

Yao Ran smiled and nodded, "Of course. How much do you want for the job?"

Building a wall was a different task from installing power grids. It required more skill, longer working hours, and was physically demanding.

The worker frowned and thought to himself, "This won't be an easy job. But if I charge too much, the young lady might cancel the deal and hire someone else.'

He glanced at his team, sighing inwardly. 'But if I charge too little, it won't be enough to pay them

fairly.'

Noticing his hesitation, Yao Ran suggested, "Uncle, since you are unsure about the price, how about I pay you 200 kilograms of food and provide a meal for your team today?"
