Chapter 410 Overpriced!
The Ether Stone was a tall black pillar adorned with intricate golden patterns inscribed all over its surface. Continue reading at My Virtual Library Empire
It silently hovered in the void as Aur observed it closely.
When he checked the price, it had already risen to one and a half World Essence Stones. Fortunately, it only came from Early Tier Seven Mana.
So, Aur directly increased the bet to two World Essence Stones.
But before he could leave, he was stunned to see the price had been raised to three.
"This is trouble; my budget is only twenty-five," Aur thought with a frown. He didn't just want to buy this Ether Stone; he also planned to acquire other resources unavailable in his inheritance world.
There were many resources that had dwindled over time. Although Stella did her best to preserve and cultivate them, it still couldn't make up for the difference. Since she couldn't leave the world, it meant she couldn't come to this mysterious island, causing most of the resources to gradually diminish.
Aur tentatively raised the price to three and a half.
There was also a countdown timer set for an hour; if no one raised the bid within that time, it would be troublesome to have it.
After waiting ten minutes without anyone increasing the price, he opened his eyes in the real world and looked around.
"I've already paid too much for the Ether Stone; it's beyond my budget. Let's look for other resources for now."
Aur scoured the area, searching for one resource after another, and finally managed to gather everything he needed.
Unlike the rigorous auction for the Ether Stone, the other resources were sold in bulk and could be directly purchased from the staff on-site. The staff members were also Tier Seven wizards.
Luckily, Ray noticed there were no Tier Eight wizards in sight, which eased his mind considerably.
It made sense; although a Tier Eight wizard owned the entire place, their presence wasn't necessary. With a few Tier Seven wizards managing the location, they could generate income over time.
By the time he returned to the bamboo slip after collecting all the resources, nearly half an hour had already passed.
"Hmm?" Aur murmured as he raised the bamboo slip to his temple. His vision blurred, and he felt the familiar pull into the vast, dark void. There, looming before him, was the familiar black pillar, its obsidian surface etched with intricate golden patterns
Then his gaze fell on the price. "Ten World Essence Stones…" he muttered, his voice trailing off, leaving him momentarily speechless.
The number hung heavy in his mind, and he rubbed his eyes, blinking to make sure he hadn't misread with a scowl, this price was simply too much.
The real price should be at most two World Essence Stones and this was five times the price!
He narrowed his eyes before returning to the real world, his eyes snapped open in the real world, looking at the people around him.
"There are other places to buy what I need," he murmured with a disdainful sneer, turning on his sandal and walking away.
He didn't need to be so persistent about such a useless thing; it wouldn't matter to him even if he couldn't buy it here. It wasn't like this was the only vendor around.
There were other Tier Eight wizard merchant places where they sold Ether Stones. Buying from here would be foolish.
So Aur left the place entirely. As he walked out, he spotted some familiar figures exiting as well.
"Are those the ones I met on the boat?" Aur thought, maintaining a calm expression and minding his own business as he moved on to find Ether Stones elsewhere.
"Sister, we were finally able to buy the Ether Stone…"
"Are you happy that you were able to buy such an overpriced thing?"
"Haha, it's worth it! Father found a way to create another mental space. If I can evolve it into another inner world, then my Tier Seven Wizard powers will double, and I will be the strongest."
"Fool," the fox-masked woman muttered to herself as she walked away.
"Sister, wait for me!"
The group moved on, and Aur, standing a short distance away, couldn't help but twitch his ears.
His five senses were incredibly sharp, allowing him to pick up their words even though they spoke quietly.
Perhaps they thought that since the wizards couldn't use their spells, no one would be able to hear them. But Aur was different; he could detect sounds from miles, even hundreds of miles, away.
"So those are the siblings who hiked up the prices, huh?"
Thinking of this, Aur quickly went to another Tier Eight shop and bought the Ether Stone for three World Essence Stones. Although it was slightly higher, it was still within a sustainable budget.
Aur quickly took the boat and left the mysterious island.
"Hmm?"
The heart-pounding feeling finally subsided, and he could heave a sigh of relief.
"Luckily, I was able to suppress my instincts." His crimson pupils scanned the boat; the old man was still slowly rowing, accompanied by three more individuals, all at the Tier Seven wizard realm.
As he observed one of the figures, Aur couldn't shake a sense of familiarity.
"I think I've seen that guy somewhere." He made no move, silently looking ahead while sneaking glances at the man.
The figure had only a single leg and was fiddling with a needless compass.
He glanced at the compass from time to time, and although he tried to hide it, Aur could sense the scrutiny every time the man looked down.
"Fuck!?"
Aur cursed in his heart. If he didn't recognize that something was off here, he would be a fool.
At that moment, his instincts went into overdrive. He not only felt the scrutiny of that guy but also sensed it from all the individuals in the boat, all except for the old man rowing the boat.
The instinct he has suppressed rang in his mind and cold sweat broke out of his back.
