Of course, Shun Long knew that even becoming an early rank 7 magic beast was more than he could have asked for from Little Silver. After all, 'Silver-winged panther kings' would very rarely -if ever- become rank 6 magic beasts, let alone rank 7 ones.

The fact that Little Silver had even reached this level was a testament to its superior talent among other 'Silver-winged panthers', as well as Shun Long unlocking its latent potential while it was still young.

However, advancing any more than that was simply impossible. The black panther had already consumed the core of a peak rank 7 'Wind wyrm' but had now stopped at the early rank 7.

Even if Shun Long could somehow obtain the beast cores of rank 8 magic beasts with wind affinity, Little Silver would still be unable to advance any further and reach the middle of rank 7 in the future.

Placing his right hand on the panther's head, Shun Long took a deep breath before he whispered slowly

''Little buddy, thank you. For being by my side for so many years and risking your life alongside me... you deserve some rest. As much as I want to take you with me to the central region, you deserve to be free.''

As he finished speaking, Shun Long sent his soul sense inside Little Silver's mind as he prepared to erase their soul link.

However, to his complete surprise, the moment Shun Long was about to sever their link and break off their connection, Little Silver seemed to have realized what was going on and let out a powerful roar, one that shook the entire Shun estate as it jerked its head in defiance.

What followed next was a series of consecutive roars, as if the black panther was trying to communicate directly with Shun Long.

Liu Mei couldn't help but lower her head when she saw this scene in front of her, tears glistening in her starry-black eyes.

Although she hadn't said anything this entire time, the truth was that Liu Mei was just as attached to Little Silver as Shun Long was, if not more. After all, she had been the one to give the panther its name and had spent plenty of time by its side. However, she also understood that keeping Little Silver trapped in a confined space would be selfish.

At the same time, inside the foggy space, Little Black let out a heaven-shaking roar as he transmitted his thoughts to the defiant black panther, his enraged aura causing the fog inside the 'Stone of Time' to swirl around him like a whirlpool.

And yet, for the first time in its life, Little Silver refused to lower its head after being berated by the black dragon, as it continued to let out roar after roar, eventually alerting the entire Shun estate.

A few moments later, Shun Fang and the rest all rushed towards the source of the noise, only to see Little Silver throwing a tantrum while jerking its head left and right.

Seeing this scene, Little Black fell silent for a moment before he shook his head and explained in a low voice

''Master, this kid is adamant about keeping its soul link with you. It says that its life already belongs to you so there is no point in granting it any freedom. It would rather die if it has no more purpose.''

Hearing Little Black's explanation, Shun Long couldn't help but soften his gaze as he glanced at the black panther, before eventually falling silent.

He knew that despite Little Silver's intimidating appearance, its mind was no different from a child's or an adolescent's at most. So, it always made its decisions based on its emotions instead of logic.

At that moment, however, Shun Long's gaze inadvertently fell on the spectating Shun Fen who was looking at him with wide eyes, before a different kind of thought appeared in his mind.

Turning his gaze towards Little Silver, Shun Long petted the black panther's head once more before he continued with a smile

''Alright. You know I can't take you to the central continent this time but since you don't want to leave my side, how about this? Do you want to stay here and protect my parents, my mother-in-law, and my little sister? I still need someone to make sure they are safe. Especially Fenfen.''

The black panther's eyes widened in astonishment before it turned to look at the small group of humans spectating by the side. Soon, its gaze landed on that tiny little human whose hair was tied in pigtails, looking at its master with eyes sparkling with admiration.

After a few moments of silence, Little Silver let out one final roar before it started to rub its head against Shun Long's chest.

This time, Shun Long didn't need Little Black's help to understand the black panther's response. Although he wasn't planning on parting with Little Silver originally, this was indeed the best possible result.

A few moments later, Shun Long explained the situation to his parents, Lin Huefeng, and the excited Shun Fen who was now staring at Little Silver with sparkling eyes.

Although the young girl didn't understand what it meant to have a rank 7 magic beast as a Dao protector, the thought of having a new friend to play with made her eyes twinkle.
