Chapter 482 482: Victory

Chapter 482 482: Victory

As Caleb and Zorak squared off, the tension was palpable, their forms illuminated by the chaotic energy of the Starlight Chasm. Zorak, towering and imposing, launched the first strike, a powerful overhead smash designed to crush Caleb outright. Caleb sidestepped smoothly, his body swaying with practiced ease, and countered with a swift jab to Zorak's side, taunting, "Is that all you got, big guy? My grandma hits harder than that!"

Zorak, gritting his teeth, swung again, his fist encased in a pulsating energy field, aiming for Caleb's head. "You will regret your insolence, Earthling!" he roared. But Caleb ducked under the blow, landing a solid punch to Zorak's abdomen, causing the commander to stagger back, winded.

Their exchange was rapid, a blur of movement and power. Caleb's fighting style was direct and brutal, using his superior speed to evade Zorak's crushing attacks and respond with precise, debilitating strikes. "Come on, Zorak, thought you'd be tougher than this. I barely broke a sweat!" Caleb jeered, dodging another energy blast and countering with a hook to Zorak's jaw.

Zorak, now visibly frustrated, unleashed a barrage of rapid-fire punches, creating shockwaves with each swing, intending to overwhelm Caleb with sheer force. "You dare mock me? I will grind you into dust!" he bellowed, his strikes creating craters in the ground where they landed.

Caleb, however, used Zorak's momentum against him, weaving through the onslaught with agility. He landed blows that reverberated like thunderclaps, each hit showcasing his ability to channel his strength in devastating bursts. His fists, capable of denting starship hulls, left visible dents and tears in Zorak's armor.

As the fight progressed, Zorak's form began to show signs of severe damage. Caleb's relentless assault had turned the once formidable commander into a bruised and battered foe. His arms hung limply, injuries compromising their function; his limbs were slow and unsteady, the result of Caleb's targeted strikes; and his chest bore the imprint of Caleb's powerful punches. Caleb was only using 12% of his physical strength or else the commander would have died already a hundred times.

Zorak, now reduced to a defensive stance, could barely parry Caleb's blows. With each punch Caleb delivered, it was clear he wasn't just fighting to incapacitate; he was making a statement. "Thought you could walk through my ambush, huh?" Caleb taunted, landing another crushing blow that sent Zorak reeling. "You're just a big fish in a small pond, and I'm the storm that's gonna clear you out!"

...

As the battle continued, each member of the Galactic Knights faced their downfall.

The first Knight, a quick-footed scout, attempted to flank the Earth Team's position, only to step into a concealed trap that Alex had laid. As the ground beneath him gave way, he plummeted into a net that electrocuted him upon contact. "Trap!" he cried out, warning his comrades too late as his body convulsed under the shock.

Two of his fellow Knights, hearing the distress, rushed to assist, communicating through their comm-links. "Darn it, the Earth team is full of tricks," one grumbled as they advanced cautiously, only to be ambushed by Sarah and Leo. Sarah, from her hidden vantage point, unleashed a barrage of sniper fire, pinning them down, while Leo, cloaked in stealth, circled behind. He executed a swift, silent takedown, knocking them unconscious with precision strikes to their vital points. "We underestimated them," one Knight gasped, his voice fading as he lost consciousness.

Meanwhile, a trio of Knights, known for their brute strength, charged towards Caleb, thinking there was safety in numbers. Caleb, grinning, welcomed the challenge. "Come on, then. Let's see what you've got," he taunted. As they engaged, Caleb's speed and ferocity became evident. He dodged a hammer blow, grabbed the Knight's arm, and twisted it, sending him crashing into his comrades. The Knights, flustered and overwhelmed, could barely regroup as Caleb picked them apart with devastating efficiency, his fists and feet a blur. "Is this the best the Knights can do?" Caleb mocked.

The remaining Knights, witnessing the swift dismantling of their frontline, began to falter. Their comms were filled with panicked reports and desperate calls for retreat. "We can't hold him! He's too strong," one Knight cried, fear lacing his voice as he desperately parried Caleb's strikes.

The despair among the Knights grew as their numbers dwindled. Their once-coordinated attacks turned into chaotic, fear-driven skirmishes. "Retreat! We need to regroup!" one of the senior Knights ordered, trying to salvage what remained of their forces. But Caleb, relentless in his pursuit, continued to dismantle their defenses.

As the battle reached its climax, Caleb stood victorious, his dominance on the battlefield unquestioned. Amid the quiet aftermath, an eerie transformation occurred. Skeletal wings, vast and imposing, unfurled from Caleb's back, their bony structures gleaming under the dim light of the chasm. The wings, spread wide, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground.

Caleb, surveying the defeated Knights, his expression a mix of triumph and disdain, picked up Zorak's fallen weapon, symbolizing his victory over the once-feared commander. Holding the weapon aloft, he turned to face the remnants of the enemy forces, his skeletal wings flexing with an intimidating grace.

His voice, cold and resolute, echoed through the chasm. "Weakness disgusts me," he declared, his gaze sweeping over the defeated Knights. "In this realm, power is the only currency, and you've just gone bankrupt."

The sight of Caleb, with his skeletal wings and the weapon of the vanquished leader, sent a clear message to all who witnessed: in the Ascendancy Games, mercy was a luxury, and only the strong could dictate terms. His contempt for weakness was not just a personal philosophy but a rule of engagement in the brutal reality of the games.

...

The Earth Team gathered around Caleb, their faces alight with relief after the intense battle. They were jubilant, their spirits high with the thrill of victory.

"Man, we did it!" Leo exclaimed, clapping Caleb on the back. "And it was all thanks to you, Adam. Your strength led us through."

Mia nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with admiration. "Absolutely, if it weren't for your tactics and power, we wouldn't have stood a chance against the Galactic Knights."

Sarah, Alex, and the rest of the team joined in, praising Caleb's leadership and prowess on the battlefield. "You were like a one-man army out there, Adam. Just incredible," Sarah added, her voice filled with respect.

Caleb, however, shook his head modestly, a slight smile on his lips. "Hold on, guys. This wasn't a one-man show. Without your skills, the traps, the stealth moves, and the backup, my plan would've fallen flat."

He looked at each team member, his expression sincere. "We did this together. Every move we made, every strategy we executed, it was a team effort. You all played a crucial part in this victory."

The team paused, reflecting on Caleb's words, and slowly, smiles spread across their faces. They realized the truth in his statement. While Caleb (Adam) was the linchpin of their strategy, the success of their mission hinged on each member's contributions and their collective execution of the plan.
