Chapter 956: Chapter 955: Centennial Family’s Congee

Shu Pan’s heart couldn’t help but feel a peculiar sensation. What was he trying to convey now? To please her?

Or did he genuinely believe he had made a mistake and was therefore apologizing?

As Shu Pan mused over these thoughts, she unobtrusively opened the package, her heart filling with amazement once again at the exceptionally exquisite wooden box and other utensils used for the takeout.

To orchestrate such lavish takeout was indeed rare, wasn’t it?

No wonder so many people were desperate to buy and taste it.

Of course, it wasn’t just the packaging that was meticulous; the flavor of the congee and the side dishes was naturally beyond words. Shu Pan took just a tiny sip and was immediately astonished—the congee was sticky and creamy, and it was fragrant and delicious, warming her stomach as she ate.

Previously, Shu Pan had overheard her colleagues mentioning it; they spoke of it as a delicacy available in heaven but not found on Earth. At the time, she had laughed secretly, thinking it was an exaggeration—wasn’t it just a bowl of congee, why describe it as so extraordinary?

She didn’t like to follow the crowd, so she didn’t think to explore it further.

But now that she had tasted it, she realized that their descriptions had not been exaggerated at all; it was indeed as delicious as rumored.

Her stomach happening to be quite empty, the congee Gu Shaoting sent was timely, so she began to eat, one spoonful at a time.

Soon, she had finished the entire bowl of congee and the accompanying side dishes.

Shu Pan was somewhat surprised; she hadn’t known she had such a capacity for eating.

Upon returning, Lee reported to Gu Shaoting, “Madam has already taken the food, sir.”

“Hmm, did she say anything?” Gu Shaoting stared at the scenery outside, the outdoor sunlight silently sculpting his distinguished facial features. His whole being exuded nobility and grace, and he looked stylish and elegant.

He was slightly tilting his head, his thin lips slightly parted, and his long fingers were intermittently tapping on the thick solid wood desk. The expensive and delicate silver cufflinks sparkled with his movements.

“She said thank you, sir.” The driver spoke haltingly, thinking it better not to mention her added remark, “No need to trouble yourself in the future.”

Gu Shaoting was a highly intelligent man; without needing to see his facial expression, just by listening to these words, he guessed that what Shu Pan had said was probably less polite.

“Thank you,” said Gu Shaoting, his voice noble and sonorous.

“No trouble at all, sir,” Uncle Lee quickly replied. Gu Shaoting was his life-saving benefactor; when he had been at his wit’s end, Gu Shaoting had given him a hand, allowing him to drive for him. That was the reason for his current stability, and he was more than willing to do anything for him.

After the driver left, Gu Shaoting pondered for a moment and then picked up his phone to call Shu Pan.

Just after finishing her meal, Shu Pan belched inelegantly, thankful that no one was around.

Hearing the ringtone, she didn’t answer immediately, although she guessed who it might be.

Finally, unable to bear the incessant ringing, she pressed the answer button.

Gu Shaoting’s deep, magnetic voice came through, “Have you finished eating? Was it good?”

Shu Pan nodded, then realized that he couldn’t see her nodding over the phone.

“Yes, just finished,” Gu Shaoting seemed pleased with her response, “That’s good, if you want more, I can buy it again.”

The tone was clearly aiming to please.

“There’s no need for that; the food in my company’s cafeteria is also quite good.” Shu Pan declined, not wanting to be seen as flaunting or seeking special treatment,

After all, the current perception of her was that she was a mother with an ordinary family background, which is why she was so eager to work and put in so much effort.

Shu Pan couldn’t bother to explain.
