Chapter 716 Search for the truth
Chapter 716 Search for the truth
As the morning sun cast its gentle glow over the land, Rain, having risen early, took a moment to prepare a breakfast for his children. The scent of freshly cooked food wafted through the air, creating a comforting atmosphere within the interior of their home. Breakfast became a shared moment, a small respite from the tumultuous events that had unfolded.
With a clear goal in mind, Rain decided to take his children in the healing process of the aftermath of the battle. They accompanied him as he moved into the heart of the capital, where the injured were resting within the walls of the castle and the church. Although the scars of battle were still visible, the scene was markedly less chaotic and bloody than the previous day.
Amidst the suffering, Rain saw an opportunity for his kids to hone their healing skills. By tending to those who truly needed their assistance, the siblings could not only refine their abilities but also provide a ray of hope in the aftermath of the harrowing conflict. Seeing kids working hard made adults feel immediately better.
"Why did you bring them?" Terra asked while showing the bags under her eyes. "This isn't the worst thing to look at, but they are still five years old."
"I didn't want to let them be locked in a room another day," Rain said. "They will feel better knowing that they are helping us. At the same time, they will become stronger by improving their skills."
"Any news from Dad?" Seara asked.
"Not yet… things should be pretty stale there since I sent the report to the port city as soon as the battle ended here," Rain explained.
Since they had a lot of potions that Rain saved over the years and since Rain asked Branden and Esmeralda to buy and stock more for him, Roan was healed on the very day he lost his legs, but he still lost a lot of blood, so he was resting.
Rain's sisters were working with the mages of the capital to repair the walls as fast as possible. Others were dismantling the dragons for food and materials as well… there was not a single soul around that wasn't busy.
Eventually, Rain selected some groups of people who weren't that tired and then sent them back to the dungeons… he sent twenty-five for each dungeon, imagining that things should be pretty intense in those places. Still, all of those guys were veterans of the raging Phoenix, so their strength was quite high.
In the span of just one week, the resilient spirit of the people came to the forefront as the capital underwent a remarkable transformation. United in purpose, the citizens worked tirelessly to rebuild what had been ravaged by the dragons. Houses were reconstructed, walls fortified, and the scars left by the recent conflict began to fade.
Despite the looming threat of dungeons reaching a critical point, the collective efforts of the citizens prevailed in restoring a semblance of normalcy. The dungeons, though presenting a persistent challenge, were considered a minor concern in the grand scheme of their struggles.
On the oceanfront, the situation was relatively stable. Seadir's guidance in teaching sound magic proved to be a crucial asset. With newly acquired skills, people were able to fend off the dragons, even though the toll on their forces remained significant. The seas, though turbulent, were navigated with a newfound resilience, providing a glimmer of hope amid the ongoing challenges.

While Rain was considering his next steps, he checked his growth… although he killed a bunch of dragons, he didn't master the human path… that felt suspicious, so he wondered if the shield was the cause of that… if that thing had a person inside, by borrowing its power, Rain shared his experience. That made a lot of sense…
"I guess I will talk with Isa again…" Rain thought after a long sigh.
Although he tried a few times in a couple of hours, Rain frowned as Isa's call went unanswered. He had tried to contact her through the magic radio. However, she seemed to be avoiding the call. It puzzled Rain, as she usually responded promptly.
He considered the possibilities. Perhaps something was amiss in the demi-human territories, or Isa was busy with matters that required her immediate attention. Rain couldn't shake off the feeling that events were unfolding beyond his knowledge.
Despite his concerns, Rain understood the delicate balance of their alliance. Trust was crucial, and he couldn't force Isa to reveal every detail. Still, the uncertainty left him on edge, wondering what developments might be occurring in the demi-human realm…
"My apologies. Some troublesome guys came to visit me and ask me a few things," Isa said, and she sounded tired. "I am glad to see that you are still alive, but your mana is coming off weirdly through the relics."
"... Isa, the shield is bothering me, so I need you to tell me what you know about it," Rain said. "I already scratched its surface a bunch of times, but he doesn't shut up. I am losing my mind."
