Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 703 Fall

Chapter 703 Fall

At some point, the dragons realized that they were pretty much gone… they managed to kill a bunch of warriors that got too close to them under those circumstances, but despite that, Rain was able to kill ten leviathan dragons, and the warriors killed other five at the cost of two hundred of their lives.

Without any other choice, the leviathan dragons paid a closer look at Rain and then made up their minds… Rain shield was completely frozen and covered in a thick layer of dark blue ice, and that thick layer was quickly spreading over his body… before that covered him completely, they had to do something.

All of a sudden, the water prison was canceled, and all the water around began to fall and spread in all directions. Half of it went away, and half of it approached the capital.

Using her magic, Seara destroyed the confines of the underground tunnels to make them take as much of that water as possible. At the same time, Artisia used her sea Dragon to stop the waters from reaching the capital… At that moment, the battle completely stopped.

Still, the leviathan used the push of the waters to move faster and completely surround Rain. They were so clustered together that when Rain tried to pierce the tail of one of them and escape through the hole, he found the body of another monster on his way. The leviathan dragons summoned massive amounts of water and soon created smaller versions of the water prison. One that they could use to move a bit more and then crush Rain with their bodies. Even the dark space created by the prison that they made with their own bodies was completely filled with water…

When everyone in the capital finally could take a break, they realized that Rain had already been stuck there for several minutes. Still, the leviathan dragons didn't show any signs of stopping and resuming their attacks.

The towering leviathan dragons experienced an abrupt tremor, their colossal frames quivering under the unexpected assault. Massively long, razor-thin water spears materialized seemingly out of nowhere, piercing the thick scales of the monstrous creatures. The lethal projectiles inflicted grievous wounds, causing massive amounts of blood to spill from the newly formed openings.

As the wounded leviathan dragons staggered and convulsed, the ground beneath them shook with the impact of their colossal bodies hitting the earth. The once dominant creatures now lay sprawled, their immense forms succumbing to the relentless assault.

The entire battlefield reverberated with the aftermath of the attack, creating a chaotic and tumultuous scene as the once-mighty leviathan dragons met their downfall.

When the monsters stopped, and the water vanished, Rain appeared in the middle of the battlefield, still standing and completely unfazed, but half of his body was encased in that dark blue ice layer.

"Not enough, huh," Rain said. "How troublesome."

In the end, the dark blue ice shattered into many pieces, and then Rain's eyes rolled and turned white before he fell to his knees and completely passed out after falling.

While the water was still spreading around, Seara and Terra approached Rain and found him in a pile of blood and mud… they looked around auspiciously while looking at the shield and dark blue ice shards.

"Did you notice that?" Seara said.

"I heard it… his voice and tone were different than usual," Terra said. "In a moment, he was completely fine, and then in the next moment, he passed out completely out of energy."

Seara and Terra, uncertain about the source of the weird and ominous aura, observed Rain's shield with suspicion. Aware of Rain's previous mention that the shield possessed a peculiar will of its own, Terra decided to take matters into her own hands. Without hesitation, she approached Rain and, delivered a swift kick to the shield, and secured it on his arm.

They exchanged puzzled glances, wondering about the mysterious nature of the shield and its unexpected influence on the battlefield. In the midst of the chaos, Rain continued his relentless assault on the leviathan dragons, thanks to it despite the odds.

"... Maybe we should hide that shield…" Seara said. "Rain won against those things thanks to it, but we Don't know what will be the cost of all this…"

Terra agreed with Seara, but doing that being Rain's back seemed wrong… it felt like they couldn't trust his judgment. In the end, she couldn't say a thing about that and just checked Rain's body.

"He is burning up… he didn't suffer much damage, but he pushed his body too much," Terra said. "Take him back to the capital and stay with the kids. I have to treat the wounded."

Seara nodded… despite the crazy situation they had just endured, the battle wasn't over yet. Their friends were still fighting, and other dragons could end up attacking the capital the next day. In the end, Seara used her remaining energy to move Rain back to the capital.

She wasn't that good at ice magic, but she couldn't use the other elements, so she was forced to make him float on a small ice platform. Carrying the commander of the raging Phoenix on her shoulder would cause a lot of damage to the image of a tough guy for Rain, after all.

When Seara arrived at the castle, it was already evening, but Sealyn was still sleeping… that was good. It was better than letting her cry a lot, thanks to the somber atmosphere in the city. After cleaning Rain and changing his clothes, Seara left him on a bed in the same room as the kids.

"Papa went to bed. You two should do the same," Seara said. "Don't wake him up, okay?"

Danny and Annie nodded. It was pretty much the first time that they saw their father sleeping, so they felt like they shouldn't bother him. If Rain were awake to see that, he would say once again how his kids were the best kids in the world.
