Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 632 Attacking high

Chapter 632 Attacking high

The magic people looked a bit troubled since they didn't have anything to do… their orders were to stay put and wait until Rain and his troops were to attack. They had to do that that day, and the next, they would only make their moves after that.

The magic people had grown increasingly vigilant, perched on the borders of their camp. They were on high alert, eagerly awaiting any signs of impending danger. While they had scouts in place to warn them of any potential threats, they kept a watchful eye on their surroundings, ready to respond to any unforeseen developments.

At the same time, the tribe leaders were in the tent hearing what they had to do in case Rain attacked with his army of they had to wait for two days, but then all of a sudden, the hooded man stopped his explanation and went outside.

The tribe leaders looked confused when they saw that… the hooded man had never left the tent after all. Suddenly, stopping his speech in the middle and without any explanation seemed odd as well.

When they followed him, they saw him in front of the ten and looking up. It felt like he was waiting for an attack coming from the sky, but that was insane. Rain could fly and carry a large number of troops with him, but they were using a barrier there, and the raging Phoenix would be unable to use mana inside. They should know that…

The magic people were initially perplexed, gazing up at the sky, trying to comprehend what they were witnessing. A fiery, glowing object hurtling down from the heavens gradually materialized before their eyes. Panic crossed through the ranks as they realized that a meteor was descending upon their encampment.

In their moment of shock and fear, the magic people momentarily forgot about their protective barrier. As the colossal meteor smashed into the barrier, the entire area quaked violently. The meteor, measuring a staggering one hundred meters in both length and width, fragmented into countless burning pieces upon impact.

Even though it shattered, it managed to inflict significant damage, leaving the barrier cracked and the magic people in a state of turmoil.

"He crossed a dangerous area…" The hooded man said.

The faces of the magic people displayed sheer disbelief and shock in the moments following the meteor's impact. The notion that Rain had conjured and directed such a cataclysmic display of magic was beyond their comprehension. It was as if they were witnessing a feat of power and destruction on par with that of ancient dragons with millennia of arcane wisdom and mastery.

Rain's display of magical might had left them bewildered and awestruck.

In the end, Rain's plan worked, and he stirred deep fear in the magic people. If they step outside the barrier, they could be smashed by an attack like that. The hooded man felt like he was sighing when he realized that Rain achieved his goal.

"... We will change our plans," The hooded man said. "As you can see, your soldiers won't be able to follow orders properly."

Losar and the other tribe leaders clenched their fists when they realized that. Still, they didn't feel like fighting Rain that much after seeing such a display of power… they could tell that he couldn't launch many attacks like that, but it was better to think of a countermeasure before they tried to fight him.

"We made him reveal this kind of technique and one that relied on using the power of his allies as his own… he won't be able to come up with techniques of that level so fast," Losar said. "The next time we face him, he will die."

The hooded man didn't deny or confirm that, and in the end, he told everyone to retreat while remaining inside the barrier. Even the monsters, once again, will become an important part of their strategy to defeat the humans.

When Rain and his friends confirmed that the magic people and the monsters began to retreat through the telescopes that he had made, they sighed in relief… another war was over, and it only lasted for a few days, but it was clear that the magic people wouldn't give up that easily, even though even Rain's friends were scared of the attack that Rain just launched.

"I guess we will have a bit more time to prepare… we had to pay a high price for it, though," Rain said while rubbing his eyes.

"Did you spend the night in the sky making a boulder of that size?" Seara asked.

"Not exactly. I went beyond it and left it there to be used like I did… don't try to copy me," Rain said. "Your reserves of mana aren't enough, aside from that…"

Rain took the time to elaborate on the inherent dangers of outer space to his friends. He emphasized the absence of breathable air, the pervasive presence of harmful radiation, and the challenge of controlling one's movements in a vacuum. He told them a vivid and somewhat terrifying picture of the experience, considering that his friends had never personally encountered such conditions.

To help them grasp the concept, Rain introduced abstract ideas, such as the absence of magic beyond their world, to provide some context for the perils of space.

"... What are our next steps," Jori asked while having a hard time grasping what Rain just explained to them, and he felt like he just wanted to change subjects. "This isn't over, after all."

"We will have to turn this town into our main base on this side of the country," Rain explained. "You two can train new warriors on your old base, but this place will have to have most of the concentration of the veterans, and they will have to keep scouting the borders day and night."

"I suppose that makes sense… since the enemies can poison the waters of the waterway, and only someone like you can clean them," Seara said.
