Chapter 761: Chapter 761 Business Negotiations
Upon returning to the City of Hope, Song Jian noticed an influx of NPCs throughout the city. These NPCs were extravagantly dressed with their clothes glistening with gold and silver, and draped in numerous pieces of jewelry.
They held an air of arrogance and distinction, unlike any NPCs Song Jian had previously encountered. Clearly, they were individuals with a certain degree of status and identity.
Wang Qi, who had rush over upon hearing the news, let out a sigh of relief when he saw Song Jian.
“Chief, it’s a relief to have you back,” Wang Qi grabbed Song Jian’s sleeve and pleaded, “Come and have a look, I’m almost driven insane by these NPCs.”
“What’s the matter? Isn’t everything going well with the construction?” Song Jian replied with a smile.
Upon his return, he didn’t stay in Manor Castle, but instead took a stroll around the city. The previously destroyed buildings in the city had been completely restored. Following the city’s upgrade, numerous new structures had sprung up, including two Magic Crystal Railguns still under construction on the city walls.
To Song Jian, everything seemed to be progressing orderly, with the only oddity being an increase in flamboyantly dressed human NPCs.
“Have you seen those NPCs?” Wang Qi pointed to the NPCs outside the castle, “They just popped up out of nowhere, claiming they wish to invest in the City of Hope and develop entertainment and commercial districts. I have no idea how to handle these unfamiliar dealings, so I opted to postpone the decision-making until your return!”
“Entertainment and commercial districts? If they want to invest and construct, let them do it. After all, it’s our territory, and there are plenty of areas that we aren’t currently utilising. Why not just hand over a parcel to them?” Song Jian said, puzzled.
“They wish to purchase our land, buy it permanently!” Wang Qi explained. “Some others have proposed renting, but the lease agreements are all for very long terms, spanning several decades.”
“Are we that short of money now?” Song Jian asked, furrowing his brow.
“Indeed, we’re quite strapped for cash!” Wang Qi nodded in affirmation. “The compensations for the thirty-odd players we lost alone make up quite a substantial sum. Furthermore, almost our entire city was demolished and had to be reconstructed, which, despite costing only a third of the original construction resources, is still a considerable amount. And now that we’ve upgraded to a city, we’ve also begun the construction of new buildings…”
Wang Qi lit off a list of expenditures to Song Jian.
“What about the Valley of the Undead? How are things going in terms of its exploitation?” Song Jian felt somewhat bothered. Even in reality, he was no more than a recent graduate, he had never dealt with these kinds of issues before.
“The Valley of the Undead cannot be exploited recklessly. We have to proceed with a plan, otherwise, the entire valley will turn into a wasteland sooner or later. Currently, we have put a stop to our resource collection from the Shadow Forest, and have started planting saplings within the forest. As for the gems in Shadow River, we’ve also limited the extraction scale. The entire gem market has been impacted by our actions, the prices have dropped down by three-fold, we can’t go on like this…” Wang Qi explained.
Song Jian nodded. The Valley of the Dead could be considered a treasure trove, but if something becomes too abundant, its price is bound to plummet. It should be handled like diamond mining in reality, whereby extraction is limited each year, allowing diamond jewelry to fetch exorbitantly high prices.
“It seems like we need to recruit a team of skills negotiators to deal with these NPCs,” Song Jian sighed.
If they were not short on funds, Song Jian wouldn’t even give these NPCs a second thought. Even if the construction took longer, it wasn’t a problem, after all, they owned the territory and had no external enemies. Hence, time wasn’t a pressing issue.
However, now that they have faced financial difficulties, Song Jian could no longer ignore these potential benefactors who were offering money. Yet, skill would be required to obtain significant funds from them without giving up too much in return.Upd@te by novg0.co
“These territories were fought for by our brothers, risking their lives. If they want to buy this hard-earned land with money… Hm, I owe it to the fallen members of our alliance to make these guys pay a hefty price!” Song Jian looked at the NPCs wandering around the city, pointing and discussing his territory, a fierce glint in his eyes.
“Go and get Li Ke’er over here, see if she can assist us in any way!” Song Jian suggested after thinking for a bit.
“Ke’er? How can she be of any help?” Wang Qi expressed his surprise.
Li Ke’er was like the mascot of the alliance, spending her days within the game, frolicking around. However, she was also extremely lucky, and managed to obtain a lot of good equipment.
Li Ke’er herself didn’t care much for those items and often gave them to her friends, hence why a lot of people enjoyed spending time with her;
Some liked Li Ke’er for herself, while others wanted a piece of her good fortune. As for those with ulterior motives, Li Ke’er would usually notice them after a while. Even though she was a mere child, her emotional and intellectual quotient surpassed even those of adults in their twenties.
Wang Qi was fond of her, and could guess from their interactions that Li Ke’er was from a fairly wealthy family. However, the idea of her being a skilled negotiator was something he found hard to believe, given her young age.
“You and I put together might not be as good as Ke’er in dealing with such things,” Song Jian laughed and shook his head.
“Alright, I’ll go get her over!” Wang Qi replied. He left the conference room shortly and returned with Li Ke’er trailing behind him.
“Song Jian Brother, you were looking for me?” Upon seeing Song Jian, Li Ke’er’s eyes squinted into crescents, her face exuding happiness.
Looking at Li Ke’er, Song Jian was taken aback. In just a few days, most of the equipment she possessed were now of gold and silver quality. The mini crossbow tied to her waist was now an epic quality piece.
“Ke’er, the alliance needs your assistance!” Song Jian informed her.
“What is it, Song Jian Brother? Just tell me!” Li Ke’er’s eyes lit up. The fact that she could assist Song Jian made her even happier.
“Recently, numerous NPCs have arrived in our city. They all intend to buy plots of land and construct commercial areas for business. They plan to make money here.” Song Jian said, “But we need to extract money from their pockets. However, we can’t afford to make a significant loss. Every inch of the alliance’s territory has been won through the blood and sacrifices of our brothers. We can’t easily let them buy it. You understand, right?”
“Understood, we need to attain maximum benefit at the least cost!” Li Ke’er nodded seriously.
Wang Qi, standing nearby, was astonished. Such words were definitely beyond the capabilities of a teenager.
“Ke’er, I want you to engage in negotiations with these NPCs. Do you think you can handle that?” Song Jian placed his hand on Li Ke’er’s shoulder, asking seriously.
“Business negotiation?” Li Ke’er’s face lit up. She replied, “No worries, brother, let me handle this. I’ll ensure they bleed money!”
